I posted pictures in the other car thread of it. In retrospect, I'm glad it wasn't Dodge I chose in the end.

I saw that, congrats, the SHO is a kind of steal for the price-to-performance ratio - my local dealer has a new one with the Performance Package, moonroof, nav (they're pretty much loaded otherwise), for ~$38K. The 3.5L Ecoboost also is super easy to uncork with just a tune, there's ~50HP (and substantial extra TQ) with a 10 minute tune upload and you don't even have to open the hood :D

BTW, is this to replace the SS? It sounded like you were in love the aforementioned, not sure if you kept it (never saw any additional photos, assuming it's gone)

Many of those issues were fixed with software updates. The majority were early released models.

If that was true, cars wouldn't be falling apart in the hands of customers (feel free to check the Giulia forums) or in the hands of the press.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a10308214/alfa-romeo-giulia-issues/

After a decade and a half in the business, I have a host of stories like this. But the Alfa is different. My last Giulia press car—two months ago, in Seattle—idled so unevenly, the cabin rocked. Its transmission didn’t like pulling away from stoplights, either slipping excessively or jerking to speed from a stop. Earlier this year, when our digital director, Travis Okulski, had a test Giulia, the headlight washer cover fell off, the seat-height adjuster came away in his hands, and the radio refused to change stations.

Consumer Reports’ Alfa has been to the dealer service bay three times since they bought it. The UK’s Sunday Times had three Giulias crap out on them. Forums abound with reliability issues. Pistonheads had an Alfa Giulia break down in the middle of a test against a Mercedes and a BMW. Motor Trend’s Alfa was completely defeated by a normal driveway.

The above lines were published a day after Jalopnik’s editor-in-chief, Patrick George, found himself on the side of I-87 with a Giulia that simply stopped running. The same exact vehicle that R&T's web team had a week earlier, which also threw a check engine light. Motor Authority went to Gingerman and had issues. Finally, R&T’s sister publication, Car and Driver, has seen three test Giulias to date. The first one, a Quadrifoglio, forced itself into limited-power efficiency mode whenever you remote-started the car. It wouldn’t leave that mode unless you reset it with a code reader. The next car, another Quadrifoglio, at the magazine’s annual Lightning Lap track test, refused to rev to the end of the tach. It threw trouble codes, lit the check-engine light, and started short-shifting. The most recent car that C/D tested, a 2.0-liter base model, jammed its sunroof open. The headliner-mounted switch console also stopped working. Someone eventually got the roof to close, but the car spent the rest of its time at the magazine with a note attached. It said something like, WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T OPEN THE SUNROOF.

I asked C/D’s technical director, Eric Tingwall, if there was a common thread. “They don’t fail with any kind of consistency, in my experience,” he said. “It’s not like there’s just one component that’s causing this. It’s not just Quads, it’s Quads and 2.0-liters, engines and transmissions.” A few weeks ago, when Tingwall left to test the Alfa Stelvio SUV in Tennessee, he reluctantly packed a code reader in his luggage, assuming it might come in handy. He didn’t need it, but, “Within two miles of finishing the drive, I’m pulling up to the hotel, and the auto-start-stop icon on the dash lit up with a warning light next to it.”

Software updates can't fix broken trim pieces. There are guys on the Giulia forums who are scared to use remote start because they fear it will brick their cars.

All of these issues stem from FCA's shoddy engineering and short development time.

I follow Giulia Forums also. Most of the affected Giulia were from the first batch. After May batches most of them are problem free.

I've actually always wanted a PT Cruiser and Chevrolet SSR...

And I am sure you would want your SSR with the 5.3 V8 and not the LS2.... Not like the SSR needed that extra power to move its Trailblazer foundation at an acceptable pace for a retro hotrod truck. :D

It's _so_ weird, I've been seeing SSRs around here all of the sudden ... maybe it's an SSR club in town for some va-ca :D

The SSR, was, umm, interesting. It kind of did nothing very good (I mean, it was reasonably perky in a straight line ...), tried to tap into the El Camino style and/or sport truck market, it had AD truck design cues from the 50s ... and on top of everything else, it was a _hardtop_ convertible. It's wacky!!

Lexus are finally doing my airbag recall. I also think i'm getting some carbon buildup. Maybe its time to get a 3IS...or sell my soul to the germans.

Problem is apart from the RS3 and M140i nothing in the german lineup currently interest me. Well...the C63s too but thats way above my pay grade.

Sadly, yes, I sold my impala SS to a shop owner who has been asking me for over six months wanting to purchase it. Finally, one day we had lunch together and he pulled his checkbook out and asked me to give him a number.

I took this photo on the last day before I sold it. I do miss it, but the Taurus SHO has been a pure pleasure to drive and fairly exhilarating with the TwinTurbo. I actually wanted tuxedo black for a color, but it was going to take a month to get one in my city (I'm impatient). So I settled for "white platinum metallic Tri-coat". The color almost Morphs based on the lighting outside, makes it kind of unique. I do plan on doing a tune, but I was advised by a couple of mechanics to wait until my powertrain warranty expires, as Ford can be fairly particular when it comes to tunes from my understanding.

Yeah, it's clearly in their right to deny certain warranty work if it can be attributed to a [aftermarket] tune, and that could be anything engine related, drive train, etc. It's apparently detectable if they're looking for it too. That being said, it seems pretty rare for people to have issues with Ecoboost tunes on the 3.5L, if it's from a very reputable tuner and things stay within a fairly conservative power target.

I told myself I was going to wait too ... I didn't make through my second year of warranty :D

That's why I might wait while, as I wouldn't want to have any work denied on the vehicle due to Ford finding the tune.

I also agree it definitely is important to find a performance shop that knows what they are doing. It's amazing the difference a tune can make. But I definitely have this on my sites in the future with the SHO, but have been impressed thus far with the performance.

Yeah, today's ECUs and the myriad of computers manage to record just about anything you can imagine. Some are also tough to get into.

Zenithal is to PT Cruiser, as AutoUnion39 is to <insert_crappy_Chevrolet_here>

Oh, yes, I am trolling to an extent. I actually think the PT Cruiser is a unique looking car and I wouldn't mind having one years from now, albeit restored and furnished much differently. Also a new engine and tranny. At one time in Europe, they'd take FF vehicles and rebuild them for snow rally but move the engine towards the middle of the car or the rear. Short gears, very powerful engine, very light stripped out car.

With the way 3D printing is going and the costs of owning your own CNC machine coming down, I think it's very possible to build your own trim pieces and whatnot to replace OEM stuff. The SSR much like the Magnum was dead on arrival here on the west coast.

I didn't take many, a few of my car for some promo pics (for my sponsoring wheel company), some crowd shots for the wife (I couldn't believe the turnout!)

Hopefully, the official site will have some photo updates in the next few days.
[doublepost=1502584907][/doublepost]Kind of get a sense of the size of the event, you can see _way_ off into the distance the crowds!

What year is your Mustang and how many miles?

What year is your Mustang and how many miles?

It's a MY16, delivered to my door from MD, 10/31/2015 (halloween evening, barely had to time to give it a quick test drive before starting the fog machines). I think I'm at mid 12Ks, I had some really major use the first few months (I could of major roadtrips), but otherwise, I don't have to daily-drive it, mostly just used around our small operating area of about 10 miles.

Performance Package (6-speed manual, Brembo brakes, different suspension, bigger coolers, extra guages, 3.73 rear with a TORSEN), most options (nav, ACC), premier red interior.

No longer stock - getting less stock by the month :D

Very nice. I like the aftermarket wheels and red interior. The coyote engines are very strong and put out some nice horsepower.

Quick story. When my car was on its way to be delivered, the semi driver actually damaged one of the wheels on the back passenger side. So when The dealership did there initial delivery inspection when it arrived, the driver admitted that when he removed the straps, it gouged one of the wheels. The dealership called me and stated I could choose a different wheel package due to the inconvenience and the insurance company of the delivery service was going to cover the wheels. I got to choose a different set of 20 inch different wheels that I liked better than the ones that originally were on the vehicle.

Apologies, but Forgot to ask. Are sure about the $38,000 price tag for this package? Or is this a 2017 model your referring too? Because my cost was $44,000 without the moon roof. (And mine does have the 401A with contour seats and Performance (Police) package with the larger brakes, Suspension, oil cooler, etc). $38,000 doesn't seem likely to include the performance package and moon roof, which should be priced well above $38,000.

Yep, but that was after their ~$8000 discount (so if you were comparing MSRP it would seem way too low):

MSRP: $46,485
You Save: -$8,097
Internet Price: $38,388

$42K base, $3K options (Perf Pack, Nav and Moonroof)

From there you can review the window sticker:

That's a great price. $38,000 is as low as I have seen it with those package(s). I guess I am confused to why is their an $8,000 discount. The wheels on that model you listed are the one's I had originally equipped on my car and had them switched out. I didn't care for the 'flower petal' design. But overall, that SHO won't last at that price with those packages.

Too expensive or too cheap? I haven't followed your conversation much, but isn't the SHO the overpowered Taurus?

There are some really aggressive dealers here in the southeast - a buddy of mine got right around $8K off his '17 convertible C7 last year (local Chevy dealer). I've kind of been shopping Explorer Sports (also the 3.5L TT Ecoboost) and just right online I'm seeing $6-7K discounts without even any haggling.

Funny, my main design beef with the the SHO is the wheel design, yeah, flower petals, that's exactly it. Kind of cool yours got dinged, and your replacements are _way_ better.

Taurus is rumored to be killed off next year or so. A lot of cars are on the chopping block. Impala, Sonic, Spark, XTS, Taurus, Fiesta( already killed), SS sedan( already dead, last one produced 3 months ago), Volt( strangely enough, but would be spun off into a crossover according to the rumor), etc. It's a different market today. Though can't help but think if this is going to be a repeat of post-SUV fad and the American car makers be caught with their pants down again.

I should have test drove the SS sedan when I was shopping just to cover my bases. It's massively underrated and largely off the radar for a lot of people, but it's a good vehicle.
