Hahaha, reminded me of this Simpsons bit:

I’m just trying to think if it is worth getting the hood insulation repaired... Cant imagine there being much of a downside to not getting it replaced besides aesthetics.

Is it the hood liner? i.e., the mat that's directly attached under the hood?

Sticky velcro tape may be simpler to use. AFAIK, hood insulation is held in place by gunky tape or glue.

OK, yeah, I was going to say you _could_ just remove it if it looks bad, it does provide a little noise dampening, but some people suggests it's actually for safety (supposed to be a fire retardant in the event of a major engine fire). I've actually thought about pulling mine, it looks much better *naked* (Mustangs also have a cool Pony logo hidden underneath it).

@D.T. Have you seen the new 4Runner? :(

Some new-new? Holy smokes, no ... let me go look.

[edit]

OK, I'm not seeing anything other than the current 5th Gen (i.e., MY2009+).
[doublepost=1510229892][/doublepost]Yeah

Neat, wow! HP race is on AGAIN, and I thought the last time this happened that was it. The body work - regardless of the legit effectiveness on track - is U. G. L. Y. ugly, I mean this car, like the ZL1 1LE is cool on the track but would be sort of embarrassing to drive around the street ... and before anyone says it: no, it's not a "street legal racecar", it's a street car with loads of track capability.

Speculation about the price tag? I saw someone post, "likely in 6-digits" ... ya think? Of course it is, with the Z06 already in that territory once you load it up with the Z07, one of the carbon packages. I did a BYO on a Z07 to about $110K, I'm going to say this car is a Z06 + Z07 + carbon + limited/special production (with few options) coming in around $130K.

Rumored price tag is around $120K.

It’s still one hell of a send away for the front engine Corvette. The mid engined C8 should be debuting in 2019. The C7 is supposed to be sticking around until 2021 or so, but C8 will be the future. Also have to wonder if the C8 will also spell the doom of the OHV engine at GM.

Yeah, that is going to be _odd_. A huge model variance, on the lot, at the same time. It's not like, "Here's a Corvette Grand Sport, and here's a Z06, this has all this, but a supercharged engine for more power, and better brakes <whatever>"

This is almost like a totally different model, difference engine configuration, totally different engine design, a shift in the exterior that's not fenders/spoilers, but a wholly different body ratio.

It will be interesting to see if the Corvette can pull off 750hp without the rear end breaking loose like it does on the Hellcat if you even touch the gas in 1st :)

Considering that the Corvette is actually a legitimate sports car and not a pony car, I suspect they may actually be able to pull it off with enough suspension tweaks. The FMR layout is already ahead of what you get on a typical pony car.

The Hellcat has ridiculous skinnny tires, ‘Vette will have wider tires.

Yeah, at one point I was running 335s on the rear of my Supra ... I could light them up at 60MPH :D Bunn is right, it'll be more about the suspension, and ultimately, more across-the-board performance.
[doublepost=1510274020][/doublepost]Think I'm going to go to the C&C Cruise-in on Saturday, we're actually headed to Universal the same day, but later in the afternoon.

2019 Corvette ZR1 officially unveiled. 755 HP, 715 lb. ft of torque, only gained 60 lb. of weight, front end is all heat exchangers for cooling, and will not cost more than double the standard Stingray.
