2019 Corvette ZR1 officially unveiled. 755 HP, 715 lb. ft of torque, only gained 60 lb. of weight, front end is all heat exchangers for cooling, and will not cost more than double the standard Stingray.

Love the orange color

Impressive, that spoiler is pretty obnoxious though.

Doubt they could go down the Porsche route. The rear view of a 911 is really good for how sloped the backend is. Can't really use that type of wing on this Corvette and lose what little visibility you have. Popup wing, perhaps?

Doubt the pop up wing could withstand the 950 lb. of downforce the wing can generate on the ZR1.

I think @D.T. has one. I can't remember now. I'm getting old

I actually own it and I couldn't remember ... I must be _really_ old :D

Has anyone here, purchased a 2018 Ford Mustang GT or similar...?

Anyway, I own a '16 GT convertible (pics, details, ongoing modifications scattered through this thread ). I'm reasonably hip to the goings on with the 2018 models (exterior changes, power increases, new packages, colors, etc.), so I can probably answer any questions (and definitely regarding my experience with my '16).

I purchased this GT with no previous Ford ownership experience, but having been through multiple Corvettes, BMWs, cars like a Supra, S2000, RX7(s), etc.

:)

Oops...!

Only tint and an JLT oil separator. I was very close to having the calipers painted red. But, after seeing so many variations of the GT around, 99% of them didn't have painted calipers (seems like a wasted cost - $700). Plus, concerns with how it will deteriorate over time...

You did, back in September :D

Have you done anything new to it lately?

Hah, I knew I'd seen that car before! I love cars that low from the factory, but they're awful to drive here in our state. so many awful streets and driveways that would catch the front lip. Ideally, a front axle lift system should become an option on all cars in the future.

BTW, the C&D article quotes "10º of adjustment and 500 lbs of downforce at top speed" [for the ZTK package]

View attachment 735835

Motor trends article states 950 lbs of downforce for the ZTK’s wing. C&D’s leaked article was wrong on the specs....

Currently working, but will check the official press release later to see which one is true.

Ah, OK, I was reading that article and remembered that particular spec you mentioned - it's not really all that big of a thing, already over this car :D

... but in the spirit of accuracy, the GM press site does indicate the 950lbs as documented by Motortrend.

Suddenly inspired to post my A4. No mods or anything (just tints). I love this car (although when my lease is up, I have some decisions to make)

Nice. We need more photos of actual cars people own and/or are legitimately shopping :)

I'm kind of jazzed about the revised Wrangler, it's been in need of some modernization in terms of transmission, lighting, electronics. Especially interested in the diesel option!

Well here is my black Hyundai coupe and my fiancee silver coupe.

The silver one is an F2 stock no mods (yet) it is automatic and only 27 are left over here.

My black one had those rear lights imported from states as cannot buy them here.
17' team dynamic Monza alloys
heavy tint front sidelights, when off blend in with paint work.
Got an SRI kit to fit soon and a set of headlights with halos fitted.

Jeep is like the only thing of value from FCA right now, so yeah, the Wrangler is super important

It's another option we've considered, but I felt like the drivetrain was a little underwhelming (on current models). It would give us a nice, flexible, beach friendly, family hauler, we'd just get rid of the 4Runner. Get the optional hardtop for the "winter" months here, setup a ceiling winch for storage, summertime, we've got a second convertible (or maybe the only convertible and I go with something else ...)

Just thinking out loud :D

It’s optional. It’s apart of the ZTK performance package.
Even without it for some reason the Corvette has this redneck vibe, at least up here.

I wish someone would buy Jeep from FCA and save them from that disaster. The new wrangler looks like a big improvement. I’m concerned about the Fiat electronics... and the fact they’re using a 2.0t 4cyl is weird. I hope the body-colored interior trim is an option... it reminds me of the PT Cruiser.

It’s hard to find a real SUV these days. I forget if you mentioned this, but would you be against with replacing you T4R with a new model.

Nothing beats the fun of a wrangler/series Land Rover/Defender with the top off in the summer.

Agree more photos. Planning on tacking some soon.

It's kind of out of contention. The new one is a solid SUV, but in '17 it's time for a better transmission, the electronics are kind of dated (no CP ...), it looks pretty decent with the right wheel/tire setup, I totally dig on the TRD edition, but that's a lot of extra money just to be an off-road poser :D Plus, I kind of like to try different makes/models, otherwise it just kind of feels like more-of-the-same (and in some ways, it even feels like a downgrade in the engine department since we have the V8 model).

Wranglers are Jeep's moneymaker, aren't they? I'd say if FCA screws it up, the brand is toast. I can't imagine what company could buy and improve the Wrangler. I wanted a Wrangler so bad back in the day. For some of the young people in here, before computers and cell phones, and before beepers got cheap, us older people used to do other things for fun. :p Anyway, having a Wrangler then meant you were just the coolest dude in the world and women would hang out with you to ride in your Wrangler and then some. In a time when much of car design was boxy and made of steel, the Wrangler was this odd, small and tall vehicle that go you around and all eyes were set on you. It had ****** gas mileage, but gas was less than a buck then, and it also had the worst storage space, but who cared because you could squeeze four friends in the back.

it reminds me of the PT Cruiser.
Such a cool and badass car!

Fond memories of playing bridge and pinochle. While Delores, a friend of a friend, would ride the dynamo bike. We even had to move a light bulb from room to room. They were darn fancy.

I joke. Never knew a Delores. Did have a dynamo bike. Lots of bulbs. Most of my university off time was spent playing poker, drinking and smoking cigars. In my then "wisdom" I figured that cigars were less dangerous than cigarettes despite not having a filter. Smoking was known to be bad at the time, but the lack of internet availability and reading material being slim, no on really knew the dangers until it started being pumped out more and more. There's a funny story involving my first email account in the early 90s but that's for another time.

Getting back on thread, Matt Farah recently did a video on a Stratos.

Been lurking on this thread for a bit, not much to add over the time though, despite my 10+ years of covering Detroit and Chicago auto show for places like Autoholics, Car Domain, Bimmerforums and a few other sites / local media. I have really not been doing much of anything car related for the past 8 years or so.

Still own 4 cars, but with the exception of one, all later model German cars, with my newest getting on to being 7 years old now.

Big Audi fan, and have a friend who owns the shop where Quattro club started worldwide ( Chanhassen Minnesota ).

Daily driver is an A6 Avant (wagon) with a few performance mods done to it. 2nd to last year we received their large A6 wagon. We now only get the A4 that is branded as an allroad here in the States.

Only older car that I own of any significant value / historical importance is a Mercedes 190e 2.3-16. It has a small part in history, but not as popular as its later BMW rival, but I always liked the subtle looks better.
