I have citron. Similar color actually, they got it right. Sunburst yellow is the color I was thinking of. A few British and German makes used it back in the day and it was a really nice color. It ages well, too. Towards the latter half of the 1970s, the color got more sharp, if that makes sense. Away went the summer like charm of the color.

Do your students ever tease you and question where your elbow patched sport coat is? :p

They don't have to ask me where it is :)

I also keep a green plaid flat cap in the MG, but never wear it-it's more a practical thing since I'm tall enough that wind over top of the windscreen makes it move uncomfortably at moderate speeds and would probably pull it off at high speeds.

The 2020 widebody Charger is now official. That Frostbite blue looks incredible.

Dude.... Dodges color schemes are fire. Frostbite blue is easily one of the most unique shades of blue out there, and appears it will change based on the ambient lighting outside. (They also added ‘Sinamon Stick’ And Hellraisin for the Other new colors.... I mentioned earlier, their marketing is always unique and they make it fun.)

Don’t all colours change based on ambient lighting? That’s why we sell colour criticise lights to car manufacturers.

Nice. I bet it has a lovely tape deck though!

Sure slightly, but if there’s pearlescent pigment in the paint, which it looks like Frostbite has to me, the shift is much more dramatic. Just look at the color differences on the rear left corner of the bumper for example.

Some colors are more transformative than others. Obviously with your basics like ‘white’ or your slate colors like ‘black’, those are not, but these more unique colors like the one listed above, shows different shades of blue based off the lighting.

Example: Ford had a color called ‘Dark-side’, which was more like a forest green color, during the day, it clearly resembled a darker green, on a cloudy day, it looked like a black car.

Congrats. And I got to say on that note, I’d say in the last six months, I’m blown away how many Model 3’s are now driving throughout my city. To be honest, I thought they were hideously ugly at first, but they’re starting to grow on me in terms on the look. Really though, I think the Model three will be highly successful as long as Tesla can meet the demand and keep the quality under control.

Yes I snap a photo later..

The buying process was the strangest I've ever seen and it's a PIA.. I assume this is costing them some sales as it's a MESS!

They are selling like crazy right now as everyone is trying to beat delivery by the end of the month., I picked mine up @ the Portland Tesla dealer yesterday and he said they were making 40 deliveries a day at their store...

I didn't upgrade to full self driving ($6,000 more) as I don't see the need for it at this point and can always buy it later if wanted... It comes with autopilot and that's fine.. I used it last night on the drive home and it's a complete trip! Activated it and it keeps you in lane, auto steers and accelerates and brakes based on traffic....

There are a crap ton of Tesla's here in my area as well...

I toyed around with Teslas website building a Model S, it’s really unique how they have that set up with what you’re choosing, extremely simplified, but the choices were very limited in what you’re actually picking, it’s either <Option A> or <Option B> versus complete à la cart selection.

My neighbor has a white P 85D Model S, and absolutely loves it. The regenerative braking is awesome.

Enjoy!

I think they still look ugly. I hate the egg-like shape from the side profile, the short stubby hood, and the duck lips the front seems to be giving me. The Model S is gorgeous though, but way outside my price-range.

You know, I thought similar initially. From my own perspective, and one thing I’ve tried to stop doing, is judging a car based off pictures, and once you actually see the Model 3 in person, I think it holds its appeal differently from photos off the Internet. So I try not to make too many rash judgments until I actually see it in person. I think the Model 3 isn't necessarily for me, but it does look much better in person, at least from my viewpoint.

I agree, The Model S design is more on par with my preferences. But you’re right, the price tag skyrockets dramatically. I think my neighbors Model S P85 D booked new in around $90,000-ish.

There's actually quite a few of these around me as well. The egginess of the design isn't quite as exaggerated in person, but the duck lips are very much impossible to not see.

I also think they look better in person and don't mind the look at all.. I got the 18" Areo Wheels and they might need to go but I'll wait and see if they grow on me..

There was a family picking up an X at the same time I was getting my 3 and I always thought the X was fugly.. After seeing theirs in person, wow, that is a sweet looking (but = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$) SUV in person...

I’m toying with the idea of picking up a 2016-17 BMW 740/750 XI

With 30,000 miles... they are running real clean in the low to mid $40k’s..... it’s insane how depreciation is

Mostly because they're priced high. Even the Panamera drops like a rock.

It's gotten cheaper for MBZ and BMW to build out their higher end cars by simplifying the software stacks and physical parts. They learned from VAG and Toyota.

P cars are the only German brand that seems to actually hold there value after a point.... sticking to my 3 year rule for buying used cars.... panamara are still holding around $55k-$60k which is sadly out my way

Personally... though I can appreciate the luxury and performance... I find German cars are overrated and prefer not to look like I have money... I’m a V8 guy and German V8s are notorious nightmares. I think the S6 is the perfect car for me but I’m not dealing with the cost of engine out repairs

Only thing worth buying nowadays are pickup trucks that I won’t have a use for... I’m bout to just get a used power wagon or a JL Rubicon and call it a day

No, just no.

If you really want one, lease it. They're giving away the 2019s because the facelift just came out for MY20.

Edit: if I ever wanted a full-size German luxury sedan, the A8 and S-Class would be my choices.

Pretty much. 996 Turbos were cheap for a long time until people began realizing you could the crap out of one and that engine would stay strong. Then prices began going up. Even if it's the ugliest generation ever. The regular 996 kept going down until cheaper IMS fixes became available people realized they're pretty good cars with a tune or just stock. Or make a good car for amateur track racing. And prices went up.

Can't believe it's been 4 years already.

And let's be real, you'd go for the A8 because you prefer Audi, but also because it's far newer and more technically advanced, even if the S-Class is more luxurious. I think the safety features of the A8 would sway me a lot more than having toe massagers, if MBZ announced that as a feature.

I know German cars are notorious for their a la carte options-I saw at least 3 on the way home from work today(2 BMWs and a VW) where turn signals must of been one of the options left off the order list...

So, 760 HP in the new Shelby GT500.
How much horsepower do we really need? Don't get my wrong, I get it for those that visit the track. But, for those daily drivers, like me, what's the point...?

Alas, I will remain content for now, with my 460 HP. Thanks all...

Along those same lines, I have a co-worker who bought a new 2015 Scat Pack Challenger. I teased him over not buying a Hellcat, especially since I know he can certainly afford to buy one a few times over(he's in his late 60s, both of his kids are grown, and this is his "post retirement" job where he's still making a solid 6 figures).

His response-"I seriously considered it, but figured all I'd end up doing was making the local tire shops love me."

In every day driving, these modern muscle cars(for lack of a better term) seem honestly to go to waste. Most of the time, nailing the throttle at a stop light isn't a good idea, and at least in the case of something like a Hellcat vs. Scat Pack, where can you actually use the extra ~300hp?

That's not to say that having one wouldn't be a ton of fun, but also a few burn outs a day aren't likely to endear you to your neighbors or the police.

I'd put my HP limit to around 500-600. I'm one of those weird car people who prefer having a fast car that's versatile. Also, being quite tall it makes a lot of cars out of reach or rather cramped.

250 HP is the lowest I'd want to go in this state. You have to live and drive here for a while to understand why you'd need so much oomph whereas a 120 HP car may do you well in other places of the world.
