And... ordered:cool:

New 2018 Scat Pack in ‘Pitch black clear-coat’ to be delivered from Stockton, California next week.

This will be my fourth black performance car, but I couldn’t get away for how menacing the Scat looks in black. Dodge has some of the best color schemes over any other manufacturer, but this color sells itself.

So, this Scat is loaded, Apple CarPlay/ 8.4 UConnect, Heated/cooled, LED lighting, Beats audio, Brembo brakes, Performance Pages/Track Apps, remote start, The list goes on...The stock 20 inch wheels are awesome, (And that’s kind of hard to find with a nice looking stock wheel, so I won’t have to switch them out.) The bolstering on the seats is extremely aggressive, which I commend Dodge on.

So now that I ordered a new 2018 and I saved some money from not opting for the Hellcat, the following modifications will be installed immediately at my Performance shop before I actually Drive it home:

  • Ceramic Coating by GTechniq
  • All-around window tint (25%)
  • Mopar Full Catback exhaust

Those mods will take another week to be installed, so it will be about two weeks before I have it completely in my hands, but this car will be a monster when it’s ready.

Pictures to follow......

WTF is Cadillac thinking? So they unveiled the CT5-V... which only boasts 20 HP more than the standard CT5 with the 3.0TT V6. It looks like they are trying to mimic the Germans which have the S4, M340i, and C43 with this move, but that is why they had the V-Sport. So they kill the V-Sport and dumb down the V branding.

There is still a higher performance model coming( V+?), but GM in general is losing me in their branding strategy( also see the new Trailblazer).

They've been trying it for years. Explains the angular design for the past decade plus.

And the poor ATS. It handled pretty damn well. It's a shame.

It's almost time for tires for the M3 (E46) and I'm stuck between the following:

1.) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

2.) Goodyear Eagle F1 UHP All Season

3.) Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS

Choices are limited because I need something in 225/40R19 for the front and 255/35R19 for the rear that can handle light snow. What say you?

No desire for separate sets for summer and winter?

My last Pilot Sport A/Ss(I think they were PS2s, so this was several years ago) were great for the 25K or so they lasted. I honestly don't think that there's a better performance a/s tire around at least when it comes to dry grip.

With that said, I no longer have a car that I feel really "deserves" a Pilot Sport, and I've transitioned over primarily to GT class tires-I have had Bridgestone Serenitys, although mostly have been using Michelin Primacy MXM4s(which I think now have transitioned to the Premier). Across the board, I like the quieter and smoother ride I get from GT tires, and am happy to give up a bit of dry grip on them in favor of what-in my experience-is better wet and snow grip vs. the PS and other A/Ss in its class. It also helps that I can usually get ~40K miles out of a GT tire vs. a sport tire. I'll also mention that this isn't a cost decision, as at least in a 17" 45 or 50 series tire, a GT tire is often 15-25% more expensive than a sport A/S.

In any case, if I had an M car I'd probably be shopping for another set of PSs. If it weren't for your mention of needing light snow traction(and presumably not being able to avoid temperatures below ~50º), I'd suggest the non-A/S version of the Pilot Sport. With that said, though, my experience with was that PS A/Ss weren't as good even in light snow as MXM4s or even a cheap set of Coopers I threw on the same car when I needed tires and was short on cash.

I should say that most of my comparisons were on my Lincoln LS, which is V8, RWD, and about the size of an E39 5-series(and in my very biased opinion better than everything but a manual 530i and an M5 :) ).

Don’t find it any worse material wise than the E90 or F30 3 series.

I like how you leave out the Mercedes C-Class or Audi A4 in your statement

Hopefully Cadillac doesn't cut a bunch of corners with the CT4 like it did with the ATS.

GM cutting corners? They would never do that. How dare you!

I took these pictures a few years ago. Such amazing quality!

France, Renault's biggest shareholder with a 15% stake, had been pressing for its own guaranteed seat on the new board and an effective veto on CEO appointments.

But after late-night talks with FCA Chairman John Elkann, the French government has accepted a compromise that would see it occupy one of four board seats allocated to Renault, balanced by four FCA appointees, the sources said.

Renault would also cede one of its two seats on a four-member CEO nominations committee to the French state, they said.

Looks increasingly likely that FCA and Renault are going to follow through on their merger.

The new GLS doesn't look bad...

Wow. That's the merger of some of the worst auto brands under Renault with FCA.

I think the merger is going to effect the European side of the business more than the US side, especially if Nissan doesn’t take part. As long as stuff like Hellcats and Trackhawks stick around, I don’t mind the merger. If it goes through there will definitely be some economies of scale benefits by becoming the third largest automaker in the world.
