What does it do exactly? Is it a service interval thing or does it reset a setting the hire company made?

Pleased to announce the sale went through without a hitch and on Saturday I picked up my first car :) this is has all been very exciting for me, as not only is it my first car, but its also pretty much my dream car :) so I have double the excitement!

im very happy with how everything turned out, its exactly what I was hoping for in a Model 70, she drives well and only needs a few things before she is road legal :) the main things being lights and tyres, but ill also be giving the brake and fuel systems a thorough inspection and replacing any suspect pipework etc

I have already replaced the air filter (after I took the picture) and cleaned all the Carburetor jets out, a Webber 32ICS10 for those wondering

The selection of where the air flows stopped working on my Golf. So if I selected air flow to the screen or the footwell it didn’t have any power. Just light amount of air coming out. Doing this just resets it. It won’t break anything.

Thinking about buying one @AustinIllini?

The new GLS leaves a lot to be desired, if we can come back to normal cars for a moment. I was considering it just because but it looks like the new car is more cramped inside let alone the lazy styling.

Not me. Maybe a long way down the road, but after this Audi loan I don't much want to finance that much for a car again

Starting at $60,000? Are you freaking kidding me? I was expecting $99,000 for the base model. That’s an absolute bargain for what you get.

If I can ever afford it.... the C8 Corvette will definitely get me to trade in my Camaro. Holy crap......

Just doing a [rare] drive by post :) Watched the C8 reveal live last night (Airplay to big TV :D), and was in a chat with some of my old Vette buddies, pretty fun.

All the GM media communication has been saying, "About the same starting price of the existing car", which is ~$55K. I think for a while there was some muddle information circulating that sort of implied a C7/C8 concurrent program, where the C7 was the "intro" model and the C8 took the mid and upper tiers.

Speaking of, can't wait to see the TT V8 Z06/ZR1/Zora model(s) hit, and push the output over 700, 800HP (some folks inside GM engineering were saying something to the effect of, "At 1000HP there was some body twisting issues ...")

Some neat details:

- 8-speed DCT, lower 1st gear, 7-8 overdrives - but more interesting, no more manual (not surprised)
- 3,366 lbs, outstanding, especially in 2019
- Dry sump oiling (all models)
- PDR is now HD video, pre-configured with popular tracks (slick), can double up as a dash cam
- A trunk __and__ a frunk!
- Front has a hydro lift for clearance and it can be set with a GPS marker to automatically lift at specific locations. Neat.

Price-to-performance (and features) is a real game changer.

The no more manual interests me, @D.T. Specifically when it comes to sales this car is usually aimed at. On the other hand, I'm impressed with the gearing and performance specs provided they're true in real world testing. I'm not too hot on the general design of the vehicle. The back end isn't nice to look at. Not at all.

Nope. I can think of about 10 cars I’d have before a corvette.
Much the same. However, this is the first Corvette in a long time I'd want in a garage. That said it's something to look to when I'm in my late 50s or early 60s.

There are a lot of cars I'd prefer - if I didn't have to pay for them (or had an unlimited bank account).

For what it costs and the performance you get, there's nothing else that even comes close to the new Corvette. When I look at various Porsche models I can't think of any reason I'd buy one, unless I'm a snob that needs to have a certain badge on the hood. And don't mind paying twice the money for a car that wouldn't even be as fast.

I can't imagine what the top trim is going to be like. This is nuts.

Probably about the same price as a base model Porsche.

I meant in performance. The new 911CS spanks speed tests throughout the range while being heavier than the 991 gen. I can't imagine what the GTS's performance will be like. Let alone the Turbo and Turbo S.

911s tend to handle differently than most cars out there and it isn't simply because of the engine layout. They've always been engineered where you could take a street corner at say 60 to 70 MPH and it'll remain planted except inside you'll want to die because of how much you get thrown around in the seat. Think a sharp turning radius.

People buying a 911 aren't usually cross shopping a Corvette. I somewhat expect quite a few accidents with this new Corvette if they've never driven a mid-engine car. If you really want a P-car but don't want to spend the initial depreciation-and-hold value, buy a CPO Porsche. 90% of the time they're under a few thousand miles or even less and in perfect shape. If you want new, buy new. Once the new 911 Turbos come out, the old 991 Turbos will see a value drop. Not huge, but they're wicked fast and at 70 grand a steal for something built so well. Compare that to something like $211,000 MSRP new with options.
