This is what I’ve always used in the past. This product has been around forever from Meguiars Plast-X. [I talked about it on here before], but it’s a very easy-on applicator that you rub on with a microfiber cloth, the key is to put a little force when rubbing and then allow to dry, then rub off. I even used this product on removing scratches from discs, and even minor scuffs on plastic trim in vehicles.

Funny you should mention trim scuffs. I recently bought a car with a few minor interior scuffs and was wondering about a product that might help. I'll check it out. If anyone else has a recommendation too for scuff remover (for a black interior), I'd love to know. Thanks.

Edited: checking out Meguiar's other products to see if there's a black plastic restorer for interior scuffs.

This seems to be different than the Meguiars Headlight Restoration product I bought first that describes the product as a cleaning liquid, but according to the directions the entire lense must be treated, and when finished, the entire lense appears frosty. This alarmed me because I don’t want to degrade the plastic surface by roughing it up, and then applying a liquid to make it appear clear. The question is in the environment how long does this method hold up? It carries a 1 year warranty.

In contrast the 3M Restoration system uses sanding abrasive disks, a polishing cream, and a drill to treat just the area that needs treatment and the process sands out the oxidation, not degrades the entire surface with a chemical. And of note, the Menguiars product is listed as non returnable, although I talked Amazon in to taking it back due to an inaccurate description of the product.

How Does it Work?

The 3M Headlight Restoration Kit restores clear plastic lenses in a way that standard cleaners cannot. This convenient system requires just a few simple steps. First, apply high-performance masking tape (not included) to the painted surfaces around the lens you are restoring. Use a progressive system of Trizact abrasive discs to remove yellowing, scratches, dirt, haze, and other material buildup on the plastic lens. With a common household drill (not included), Hookit attachment system makes it easy – just slap the disc onto a pad, and you’re ready to go. Also includes 3M Rubbing Compound to achieve maximum shine and clarity. Remove the masking tape, and you’re finished.
About Trizact Abrasives The abrasive in 3M Trizact abrasive discs for headlight restoration is so fine that you can sand across the plastic lenses without worrying about creating scratches or other damaging marks. 3M Trizact abrasives feature microreplication – small 3-dimensional structures are reproduced and then uniformly distributed over the surface of the disc. These patterned, precise mineral structures contain multiple layers of abrasive mineral. As the structures wear, fresh, sharp mineral is exposed. The result is that the abrasive cuts faster, stays sharper longer and allows for precise finish control – it removes the yellowing, dirt buildup and small scratches that can cause haze, without damaging the lens itself.

I've used the Meguir's restore kit in the past. It works great but seems to only last ~1 year or so. The last one I did was parked in a car port so had minimal sun exposure and I got ~18 months. The outside kept one got less than a year.

They look as good as the factory finish to me if you do it right, but are definitely not as durable. Still, though, considering that new headlights are a few hundred dollars each, I'll take polishing them again once a year.

BTW, I found out several years later that one car I polished had been wrecked and it wasn't on the Carfax. The give-away-one headlight was really cloudy and the other fairly clear. I pulled it at the same time, and sure enough saw collision repair behind it.

So, I have some faux carbon fiber in my Ford Taurus SHO, and there were some light scratches on the side trim pieces (Minor enough where you couldn’t even feel it with your finger nail.) I used the Meguiars Plast-X, and it completely removed the scratches.

Now, I don’t recommend this, but I even had factory scratch [Quarter of an inch] on the infotainment screen in the upper right hand corner, and I used it on this as well, and it removed the scratch. I don’t recommend anybody try that, as some displays have an Oleophobic coating, which could cause a distortion with the display and ultimately void the warranty.

2022 Toyota Tundra (3rd Gen)—

I think Toyota is completely changing face on leaving the look behind with the tacky chrome trim, large bulbous headlights and overall just very dated appeal, now aiming towards that more aggressive, sportier, futuristic look across the line with the Camry, the Avalon Trd [which is now discontinued] and now the new Toyota Tundra. I really like what they’re doing, and they’re really bridging that gap to that younger demographic.

I found this piece really interesting that I pulled from the article:

Two powertrain options are on offer in the 2022 Tundra, both based on the same 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6. Yes, the Tundra's much-loved 5.7-liter V-8 has finally been dropped. In the 2022 Tundra, the base option, branded i-Force, delivers 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque and actually beats the old V-8's numbers. Upgrade to i-Force Max and you get 437 hp and 583 lb-ft, as well as a hybrid system where an electric motor-generator between the engine and transmission can serve as an engine starter, recover energy under braking, and provide a power boost during off-the-line acceleration and towing. It can even power the truck on its own during short low-speed (up to 18 mph) drives. The standard transmission on the 2022 Tundra is a 10-speed automatic.”

Which headlight shape provides better lighting at night? The large swept back headlights as seen on Tesla Model 3 and Porsche, or the more horizontal design as seen on newer Hondas and Toyotas? And does one produce more glare than the other?

2022 Lexus LX600:

-3.4 V6 [409 HP/479 TQ], which actually is even more power over the previous Gen 5.7.

-Standard 10 speed transmission.

-Starting price tag at $90,000.

-12.3 Touch display

22” wheels standard

Interesting it has multi angle cameras around the vehicle, even one that is mounted under the rear of the vehicle that shows the ground from behind.

The most staggering part of that vehicle definitely is the grill, but for the luxury segment of users, I don’t think they’ll mind it.

this has me ready to trade in my 2017 Tacoma. Im just patiently waiting to see what the MPG will be with the hybrid version. Its either this or the new F150 Lightning. Regardless my next truck is either half electric or full.

To me, that vehicle is to large and looks very top-heavy, it’s just a monstrosity. It wouldn’t be for me. But this will be popular for the leasing crowd for Lexus fans with a six-figure price tag attached.

I would seriously consider the F150 Lightning. I live in ‘truck country’, so it’s not uncommon that the Ram, Silverado an F-150 are king here. And I can tell you, pre-orders are already exceedingly high for the Lightning. Government/construction contractors are looking to invest in the Lightning, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in fuel and maintenance costs, plus tax incentives. Of Fords entire lineup, the Lightning by far will be the the most significant asset to the company’s future.

There’s actually at least four members on this very forum who have already pre-ordered the Lightning, and I’m really excited to see what they have to say when the time comes. Personally, I still am interested in the Tesla Cybertruck. 2022 will be a huge year.

Lexus haven’t produced a nice looking car for over 20 years. They are good cars mechanically and we’d have them as company cars where I work for Directors, but god they are ugly lol. It’s like a team of designers that never meet each other.

They're not ugly just boring. They can make a good looking car, it just cost over $400K. Not to mention incredibly slow. Not saying it needs to be a race car my god getting on the highway scares me sometimes in my 2004 ES. Not a problem anymore with '21 X5M 😂 (although the gas is killing me)

Fuel prices?

~93 octane at $4.28G, translates to $77 into the Cobra tank over the weekend (The Cobra actually averages 13 mpg.) I would spend that two times over just to have more road-time before winter storage is a reality here shortly. To many cars, not enough time.
