Yes they do, there is also brake fluids, steering fluids, transfer case fluids, coolant, etc. Just no engine oil, although some may have that as well. I do not subscribe fully to the story that EVs don't need maintenance, especially considering the hygroscopic fluids used, and all the other parts that still move so you can go places.
Generally they mean no engine oil/ engine air filter/engine oil filter changes needed.

IIRC the OG Model S's did not have oil filters on the drive unit. It was added to the 3/Y, though the expectation is that you don't have to change it as the temps seen are considered mild VS a car engine.

You still have to change Brake Fluid, Cabin Air filters, and AC Desiccant bags though.

The oil also isn't circulating carbon from burnt fuel.

Good thing Apple did not take any of the Biden electrification $. The rest of the US automakers did and since nobody is buying due to range anxiety and the cost to repair EVs, all the US traditional ICE automakers are on the verge of bankruptcy.

GM still making money over fist.....

When are they going bankrupt?

GM is struggling in China right now, but that's because they are behind the EV curve there.

But nice job getting me to reply to your trolling.

You think the US Auto industry is hurting because of their R&D and manufacturing of EVs?

Certainly a very large percentage.

Not a sustainable business model.

The only automakers struggling are the ones that put out crap products or didn't diversify their lineup. Nothing to do with EV's.

Nissan and Stellantis are horribly mismanaged companies. They are the ones under threat of declaring bankruptcy, not Ford and not GM. And again nothing to do with EV's. GM and Ford are still very much profitable.

I am always entertained reading people on the Camaro forum I frequent( used to own a 2017 Camaro SS) now jumping for joy due to Trump's election thinking the Camaro can now come back. They constantly ignore the Camaro was a dead car rolling anyway before the big EV sales wave between 2021-2022. Overall the 2 door RWD sports coupes/pony cars is a dying segment. Mustang is the only pony car left and its sales are still cratering. People just can't accept their preferred automotive niche is quickly falling out of favor with the general car buying market. Instead they want to point to this "forced" push to EV's as a coping mechanism.

Investors seem do disagree

It’s not just US car manufacturers struggling. German companies are in a similar position.
The reasons are many and varied.
The world wide economy being one. EV’s are a factor for sure. As more people adopt, those car manufacturers who are behind the curve will lose sales.

Tesla and other Chinese car manufacturers are selling to the same group of customers. They are taking sales away from the older companies.

And yet they still made $900 million profit last quarter. Not a company in danger of going bankrupt.....

GM made $3 billion profit last quarter. Not a company in danger of going bankrupt.

Stellantis on the other hand reported a 27% drop in revenue. Nothing to do with EV's. Just their products suck or didn't have a fleet of fuel efficient vehicles to offset all the Hellcats, Demons, etc. Or priced people out of Jeep's with their constant rising in prices.

Bringing any new vehicle, especially one which requires new tooling to market has a cost. The first few years, if you look at just that vehicle's cost to bring to market vs profit per vehicle is a waste of time... Especially if you are developing a new platform. From there, that platform can be used to develop multiple vehicles (reduce R&D per vehicle model) and increase sales.

Look at Tesla. The Model 3 almost ended Tesla (2018, so not so long ago). Once they had it up and running and added the TMY to their lineup which shared an unpresented number of parts between car and SUV they were able to have the number 1 selling vehicle (Model Y) in 2023, and likely to be the #2 in 2024.

2023:

Yup, officially in 2021, but it was down big time in 2019 as well. But looks like Honda and Nissan will come together. Two dull brands with occasional hit vehicles.

Have to disagree on Honda. I've always found my Hondas to be engaging for their intended market. The announced attempt at a merger was not a positive for Honda. I don't really see other options in today's market as long as Chinese auto manufactures are able to flood the markets in countries with no domestic auto production. it's fairly apparent now that this is their long term strategy.

Hehehe fair enough, that way I would agree. I guess I'm not their intended market. Civic Type R, NSX, yes please...Jazz, nah I don't wear that shade of beige top to bottom 😇🤣
