Mazda is another carmaker that has been producing some good looking compact SUV's in recent years

The nicest one I saw recently was the Alfa Romeo Tonale - really great detailing. Nice headlights and grill, nice side profile.

Junior also looks pretty good but I haven’t seen it in person yet.

Sold my M3P and bought a cybertruck 2 days ago. It’s fun

You can probably get a good deal now. Their sales are absolutely horrible.

Electrek estimates 9000-12000 sales in q4

I'll wait to pass judgment on if the numbers are horrible until I see F150 Lightening, Rivian R1T, Chevy Silverado EV, and Hummer pickup EV sales numbers.

Mrs AFB Kia Picanto has its annual MOT and service tomorrow.
Just dug out the service book. Only has space for 12 with number 12 being tomorrow. Never filled a car’s service book before!

This is a charitable yet meaningless comparison. The truck market is full of heavy hitters. This doesn't even come close.

1 million preorders and their sales are going down.

The word is out. Cybertruck is a disaster.

They have made a big mistake as well, where the Cybertruck can't even be registered as a road — legal car in many countries. I mean come on, it is 2024, that just shows the inexperience of Tesla in making cars. They started off well, I'd even credit them for making a market in general. But apart from FSD, again not legal in most of the world, there isn't much there any more but competing on price. There are so many much better options.

You literally have to be delusional to think this thing is a success.

It depends. I don't think it is. Despite my criticisms, I do think it is a success. Not as a car, as a car it is stupid, not smart, sales limiting, etc. However, as a halo for the company, it is marketing gold. It attracts attention, good or bad, doesn't matter. It gets people talking. Furthermore, it enables a bunch of 'influencers' to create more posts. Even in markets where it is illegal, it creates content by getting it onto the roads.

So no, I don't think people literally are delusional, I think they are smart and understand how to make money out of what is effectively a failure; thus it is a big success. ;)

They make more money from Trucks and SUV in the US. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Shoot, Ford doesn't have a sedan in their lineup either (the only car they have left is the Mustang).
It’s hard to imagine with Toyota and Honda still making lauded cars that GM can’t figure it out.

Eh. They could they just don’t have a compelling profit motive. Especially since the American brands don’t sell vehicles anywhere else (in any numbers).

I’m curious if the Japanese brands are still selling US specific cars or if they switched to the ROW versions.

I believe Dodge is still planning on releasing a 4 door Charger sedan in 2025, supposedly with electric or gas powertrains. Haven't seen a whole lot of information on it recently, they are mostly concentrating on the 2 door Daytona EV models that are starting to hit showrooms soon.

If you still consider Dodge "American".

My good friend from college lost his home in the Palisades fire.

But I think he was more upset about losing this:

He ordered it as soon as the dealer could take them and it still took over a year for him to get it. His was a 2007 with <20K miles.

Toyota, Honda, Mazda, and so on, produce the highest selling cars and trucks in the US. If there was not a profitable market for these automobiles, then these automakers would not produce them. :)

I like the looks of the 2024 Camry XSE (or TRD) with a normally aspirated V6 in red or dark-gray color, but this one too is being replaced with a hybrid or with a 4-cylinder turbo (I like the V6).

What do you mean by highest selling trucks?
