This sonnet, has a broken speedo needle and the odometer doesn't work hence the mileage is unknown I am sure that hurts the value (of any car).

The "Buick" Fender vents, I actually though about getting those for a breif while, but decided real fast it would look completely stupid on a Lanos. There is, Electronic Turbochargers on the market for a Lanos though. But I don't think it's worth the money for less than 10HP gain, However I can get a "Cat delete pipe" it's a Muffler shaped like a Cat, put in the place of the cat. Perfectly legal with states (like MN) with no emissions testing. That would probably be a worthwhile investment.

As a side note, There aren't many Lanos' (Or Daewoo's In general) to compare to either.

Kinda funny how things work. You do renovations to a dwelling or building it adds value, you do modifications of customizations to a vehicle it devalues it. For instance if you put a $1.50 Door bell button on a house it adds $4 value to the house.

Yeah, having a loud droning exhaust combined with a nice strong smell of gas is a pretty solid value.

You should get one of those turbos for the Lanos!

You don't even know what a nice pair of performance tires will do. The thing will go 0-60 in sub four...hours

Sounds about like my church's old E450 Turbo Diesel bus...

You could hear the turbo spinning up on that thing and tell when it was actually there. I think the 0-10mph was about 30 seconds.

When these popped up on the market several years back, it became one of my fave mods :)

its in much better cosmetic shape than mot cars its age
How so? The videos and pictures you post online show that it is pretty beat up.

The average age of a car in the US is like 11 years old. You're not far off from that. It should be maintained much better than it is being cared for right now.

Actually, A Cat-Delete muffler, will give the car it's installed on alot of HP that is lost by the heavily restricted Cat. Tis muffler provides all the same kind of muffling the Cat provides without the restriction. A O2 Sensor emulator would have to be installed though.
Why do you want a dash cam?
Too many Idiot drivers. People running stop signs, red lights, ass-riding, cutting off. Saves my ass for the sake of insurance claims.

Only a 6-8HP gain not worth the cost. The Cat-Delete muffler would be a better investment.

Tires are tires.

Quite true. A person who states that doesn't know the difference between off the shelf junk Korean made tires and soft-sticky performance tires. Huge difference.

One of the first things I did when I bought my car was junk the crummy Cooper tires on it for a set of Michelins Pilot Sports.

The last time I needed tires, I had a hard time tracking down the same Michelins in the correct size, so went with a Bridgestone Turanza Serenity.

The Michelins were a HUGE step up from the Coopers. Incidentally, I priced Coopers(or Mastercraft, which was the chain's PL for Cooper) when I bought the Michelins and they were about $400 cheaper for a set of four. I can't begin to describe how much better they were-handling was a LOT better(the most important thing to me not to mention that road noise, ride quality, and wet traction were all better.

The Bridgestones I'm using now aren't quite as good as the Michelins, but I'd say are pretty darn close. They were about $20/tire less expensive than the Michelins.

Actually, it won't. I've got about 100 hours of dyno time, across multiple vehicles, several builds (everything from bolts-ons to radical head-cam and forced induction), worked with a number of tuners over 20-ish years. You _might_ pick up 3-5HP, maybe a couple more if your current cat is horrifically clogged up.

:)

I think I already told my story of the Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires that came with my Saturn Aura. Anything, but dry roads they sucked. Smoothly and softly pressing the gas pedal on flat road in the rain from a stop, they would spin out. Snow? You were stuck until it melted. I ditched them for Goodyear Eagle F1 tires( which wore out prematurely due to a poor alignment) then onto Michelin RE960AS Pole Position tires which are on the car today. The traction improved greatly. They are much harder to get them to spin out and can actually drive the car in the snow.

Tires can make a HUGE difference in how the car drives.

You don't see Ferrari's, Corvette's, etc on tires that a Volt or Prius would be using.... If they were, they would never be able to put their 450 HP+ onto the ground in a usable and safe manner.

I can't wait to finish wearing out these crappy OEM A/S Dunlops so I can get a set of PSS. I also hope Costco starts carrying them again, as they're only carrying the older Pilot Sports currently.

I didn't wait for the LS2's to wear out. I ditched them at 7000 miles.

Stick on fender vents are the quintessential example of a modification that will devalue your car. They look ridiculous no matter what they're on. Modifications are only appropriate for the car their on, and even then they may still detract from the value. Lets take some examples.
- Driving lights, brush guard, driving lights on a Jeep - increase value
- Driving lights, brush guard, driving lights on an Acura SUV - probably adds no value
- Driving lights, brush guard, driving lights on a Mercedes Sedan - detracts value (why- because it doesn't make sense)

A Daewoo Lanos is in no way, shape, or form a performance car, nor will it ever be. Dressing it up to make it look fast is oxymoronic and basically turns your car into a rolling joke (no offense). Everyone is entitled to their own tastes, but the original conversation we had is about resale value. That said, the resale of your car is quite dismal. You put the resale value at $2000, which I assure there are very few cars your age, with your mileage, that would be

We've been over this before. Removing your cat won't be noticed by MN emissions officials because they do not exist. That said, under federal law, driving without one is illegal. Technically, mechanics are obligated to report that- otherwise they could be fined. I'm sure most won't, but if I cop looks under your car and suspects funny business, he can have you go to the DMV for a mandatory inspection, even if your state doesn't have inspections.

For the 4hp you might add, it's not going to do any wonders to your car. It's a 1.6L 4-cyl in a Daewoo, you can't possibly expect much. If you really wanted to delete your cat, you just remove the cat components (be sure do throw the platinum away) and weld a pipe through the cat to make it look like the cat is there.

Kinda funny how things work. You do renovations to a dwelling or building it adds value, you do modifications of customizations to a vehicle it devalues it. For instance if you put a $1.50 Door bell button on a house it adds $4 value to the house.
$4 is pretty negligible on a house, considering the average US home is slightly below $200,000. That's 0.002% of the house's value. In the part of CT where I grew up, due to the proximity to NYC (not so even much the house quality or size), there are many of towns with the average house price of well over $1m. The cheapest house you can buy is probably $800,000 or so. $4 is negligible unless your house costs $40. Considering Renovating/updating the kitchen will likely add value--- unless it looks worse than before. Adding a swimming pool doesn't necessarily add value to a house, since some people don't want to deal with the maintenance and increased insurance costs. It's not all black and white here.

Too many Idiot drivers. People running stop signs, red lights, ass-riding, cutting off. Saves my ass for the sake of insurance claims.

My thoughts exactly.
