ok here are a whole bunch of gears of war sound effects in iphone .m4r format, great for text tones and alerts!

If theres any that you think would be good and are missing, let me know and I'll have a look for them.

You know it would be awesome to get COG Tag sound without the heavy bass sound in there at the tail end. Kind of link the sound the 360 Special Edition Xbox 360 makes when you turn it on and off. (here a quick video of it)

seems like that was a special sound for the console, or not part of gears 1... i checked the rest of the file the other sounds were in, nothing like that.

something funny I did recently i just thought id share

my baby nephew has this thing now where he's always saying "gaggle gaggle" so i pulled out my iPhone one day and opened the recorder app and recorded him saying it

i cut his "talking" into a 2 second clip (right in the app) of JUST the "gaggle gaggle" part and e mailed it to myself, formatted it to MR4 and now its my text tone

its hilarious LOL

You beat me to making this thread! I want to suggest that instead of linking to tones online, we should upload them for others to use. For texts, I use the "pause" sound from the original Super Mario Bros. game.

Nice! Just installed it. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, I was super busy the last few days.

Here's the MacStartup Tone. As a bonus here is also the Old Spice Whistle Tone and a Chrono Cross Alert.

Thanks for the Macstartup tone, really appreciate it!!

Has anyone set this tone as their text notification tone?
The reason why I'm asking is...I can't seem to make it work on my iPhone 4 w/ iOS 5. Other custom tones work perfectly...

All other custom tones I currently have are less than 2 sec. This one, according to iTunes seems to be around 3 sec, which seems to be the only difference between the other ones I have....

hmm...

I have this problem with a bunch of my custom made tones- but it appears to have nothing to do with their length. Some that are significantly longer work just fine. Others do not.
I've been trying to figure out whether there is any common denominator among those that DO work vs. those that don't, but so far, I haven't been able to see what it is.
I'll try the Mac startup chime as a Text Tone and report back.

FYI, I just changed one of my contacts to use the Mac startup chime as a text tone and got a text from that person. It works fine...
I'm still trying to figure this whole text tone thing out- why some work and why some don't.

does anyone have or can anyone make the sound of an F1 car. tried to look for that all over. cannot seem to find it. thanks so much in advance! :)

This or any NASCAR ring/text tones would be great like the sound of a pack of cars going by at daytoba.

So am I correct in understanding

#1. I can't put these ringtones on my iphone without syncing them with itunes.
#2. I can't sync ringtones with my iphone until i wipe out whats already on my iphone and sync them with whats on itunes.
#3. I can't redownload ringtones I've purchased within iTunes on my iPhone without having to purchase them for a second time.

I am still trying to fully come to terms with the severe lack of logic for this entire procedure. Can someone please lay down some logic here?

1. Yes. Download the .mp3/.wav/.m4a files and change them to .m4r. They will now open in the Ringtones section of iTunes.

2. If you've been syncing with your computer, there's no reason to "wipe out" what's already on it. When you sync your phone, it adds the new items, not remove everything and only put back the new stuff.

3. If you purchased ringtones from iTunes, you should be able to re-download them by going to the Purchased section in the iTunes store on your phone (not tested, I haven't bought any ringtones)

Hope this helps. :)

Figured no one would know what I was talking about if I got into that. LOL

I knew what you were talking about.

Glad I found this thread, I've been looking for a couple of days to add some custom alert tones. Thanks to everyone for posting them already in m4r format.
