I've seen several pics of the new ultra expensive magic keyboard accessory with all kinds of little defects. I don't recall seeing any other accessories with similar results. They're supposed to be the best of the best so it's surprising seeing these bubbles, specks, cuts, etc.

I hope this is just isolated sloppy manufacturing.

Another option to close apps...use cmd (⌘) tab to bring up the on screen bar of open apps (same as Ctrl-tab in Windows). While holding cmd (⌘), repeatedly hit tab to navigate to the app you want to close. Without lifting off of cmd (⌘), press Q.

Many ways to do the same task throughout the iPad. 😜

that just removes it from "most recent used apps switcher" or whatever its called. if you open the normal multiasker its still open. only if you swipe it away will it be gone.

this seems like a cool tip but when I try it and then goto expose, the app that i just supposedly closed is actually still open. the Q command only removed it from the cmd tab options but doesnt actually close the app.

Well I clearly stand corrected. Not sure I understand why it’s implemented that way by Apple. 🤔

Have you ever been on these forums immediately after the release of a new iPhone? The number of threads pertaining to any number of flaws and defects is difficult to wade through.

It just the nature of early adopters of Apple products. When anyone is spending a significant amount of money on anything, it’s going to undergo a pretty stiff level of scrutiny.

And remember, most people happy with a product don’t go online to say, ‘yup, my <insert device name> is working just fine.’ You’re always going to see I high level of complaints online.

OK, so I use my 12.9 iPad Pro in bed quite a bit. Usually I have it sitting on top of a pillow, resting on my stomach. How does the Smart Keyboard work in bed? Is it pretty comfortable? I imagine you would have to tilt the screen more down towards you... correct? Does it work well? Thanks!

Received my 12.9 Magic Keyboard today and super happy with it. Typing is great, the new hinge system works much better compared to my old keyboard folio

Very comfortable to use in bed in my opinion - no issues at all :D I tend to have screen at a 90 degree angle in bed but hinge is so good its say to adjust for perfect angle in bed.

That’s not good. So far I’ve seen one posted on here with some defects in the material. Where have you seen the others?

Yup, works perfect in bed. While the screen is slightly limited on the maximum angle it will open to, if you need less than that, it is literally continuous just like a laptop, so finding the perfect angle is trivial. Plus, it’s super well balanced at these angles. Huge improvement over any previously folio design.

It seems the Smart Keyboard is out of stock everywhere you look now.. is anyone having any lucky finding it right now?

The new slightly extended angle of the Magic Keyboard is perfect for airplanes! 76A08CC8-5A11-488F-A6D7-93BDC5F440F4.jpeg

Oh man, I travel for my job and haven’t traveled in months! .. and we were told yesterday, no more traveling for the rest of the year. It’s great working from home, but I do miss being out on the road! Nice to see the AMK works well on planes...

Just got my 12/9” MKB yesterday and putting it through its paces today as my “work” machine. My wife is teaching virtually these days, so our WiFi struggles a bit with her multi-student Zoom sessions and me just downloading/uploading files to my work server, so I’m sitting outside of my local coffee shop, “borrowing” their WiFi (don’t worry, I’m buying copious amounts of java too) to do some work and attend a web meeting in a few minutes. Even though there are still limitations with iPad OS, this is a pretty seamless work platform and I’m really digging it. The MKB is fantastic and has really transformed my workflow in these strange times! Bravo, Apple.

I’ve been using the 12.9” keyboard with my 2020 iPad Pro LTE for a couple of days now. This thing is really brilliant.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been heading out on my motorcycle daily to set up an “outdoor office“ in scenic, isolated places in the mountains, (living in a place where outdoor recreation is an “essential activity”) and I can get an incredible amount of work done - the keyboard has truly kicked this into overdrive. If it’s this good now, I can only imagine what’s coming in future generations. One tip; tap-to-click is a total game changer with the trackpad. It’s in hardware keyboard settings. Also remapped globe as esc.

Using it as a hybrid laptop has really been a pleasure. Overall, it’s a lot more fun (if perhaps not always easy) to use than my 13” MacBook Pro, and for certain things it’s much superior. The learning curve has been real, but short.

Everything I do, from video outlines with sketched notes and storyboards to reviewing 3D product engineering designs is easy on the iPad Pro. And quite honestly, my typing error rate is much lower than on my MacBook Pro.

Yes, social isolation and the general situation may suck, but the timing of this device and what it brings to my workflow has really been great for me and my use case.
This is great! I have been riding my motorbike a lot during the lock-down just to get out of the house and get some fresh air (nothing like a nice bike ride to clear the mind - I highly recommend everyone doing it!). Now, I may have to throw in some work on these rides to justify me being away from the office for a couple of hours in the middle of the day! Out of curiousity, what do you ride?

This is economy seats on AA with the iPad fully extended for viewing.
Wow, you’re still flying? My company has clamped down on travel so my monthly trips have been all but non-existent since February. Feels weird to not have been on a plane or at an airport for so long. I’m not saying I miss it that much!

I wouldn’t say i miss it but just staying at home sure makes you lazy...

The 11" version arrived yesterday.

Likes:
  1. The viewing angle is fine for my needs. When I use the iPad in tablet mode having it in hand without a cover is refreshing. The beauty of the iPad design is lost when obscured by a cover.
  2. The typing experience is pleasing in terms of key travel, build quality.

Dislikes:
  1. The track pad click noise is annoyingly loud. Makes me want to avoid using it whenever possible.
  2. I've noticed a wear line appear on the bottom of the flap that covers the round hinge. Minor now, but this is after 20 hours. I assume it will become more pronounced over time.

I went to tap-to-click because of the annoying loud click. Also seems to require more force to click it than my MBP. I think I’m going to have to switch the MBP to it too, as i keep tapping on MBP and then I remember I need to click there :)

I was about to say, 'wow, coffee shops are still open where you are?'
They've all been closed for a month in the UK and no signs of that changing any time soon.

Is there a way to mark text without the stupid click on MK?

I either have to click or poke at it with my finger. Selecting text to copy or cut n paste elsewhere is decidedly meh.
