I removed iPP from MKB and reseated it and voila! It then worked fine..!
It helps, but is no solution :(
(BTW: my “Reset“ is „to lift up the iPP from the MK an back“)

Many apps with the same problem or shortcuts like „control+cmd+q“ (to lock the iPP) doesnt work all times.
Then i read that the Smart Keyboard has the same problem. I think apple will not solve this problem for us

I bet there's a frustrated Apple engineer who was pushing to have an additional battery pack in the Magic Keyboard, arguing for how beneficial it would be at improving the center of gravity of the whole combo.

Of course, he was shouted down by his colleagues who rightly pointed out that the iPad Pro already had enough battery life.

Only issue i have is the material on the casing gets plenty of marks on it already. Granted you can jut wipe it off but can look dirty when it gets dust on it for example.

Yes, material und some functions, which are not always work. But its a pity that the Smart Keyboard has the same problem. Is apple not interested in these problems???

By default it brings up emojis.

Just got my 11 inch keyboard.

I love the build quality. The track pad, keys, travel are great. Definitely sturdy as well.

It is a tight fit, though — I’m pretty big and worried it might be too cramped for me.

The tightness hasn’t been an issue. Took notes for about two hours on it and it went well. Ability to use on lap seems to depend a bit on how I’m able to position myself.

I am loving this thing. What a compact, go everywhere powerhouse. Too bad I can’t go more places because of the lockdown. 😂 Popping off the iPad when it’s time to tablet is working fine, trying to get used to having nothing on the back.

My only issue now is that it’s too large for the Apple leather sleeve that I’ve had for a couple years, and the Tom Bihn sleeve I have. Is anyone using a sleeve they would recommend? Just want some extra protection when in a bag

I keep touching my screen!
I need to train myself to use the mouse/trackpad better LOL It’s an ingrained habit.

I do have to say that this typing experience is REALLY good. I really like the keyboard a lot !

The floating feature of the keyboard was designed so the tablet sits closer to your hands, to encourage use of the touchscreen.

True but I’m trying trying to train myself to take advantage of all the new features with the trackpad. I’ve got a lot of muscle memory with touching the screen that I need to retrain

I just realized that you can just swipe up from the right corner To bring control center down. Ive been clicking on the battery icon this whole time To bring it down, and all I have to do is swipe up lol. I love this damn thing dude.

How's the material been holding up for everyone? Heard from some that it feels a bit more hard wearing than the Keyboard Folio, with others saying it's the same.

Same. I find myself touching the screen probably more than I should when I have the MK attached. I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong to touch the screen (it is a tablet after all) but we did get a keyboard with a trackpad for a reason.

Just got my Magic Keyboard delivered today. However just noticed that there is as chip in the X keys. Not sure if it is worth exchanging. But at this price I am inclined to do so.

Finally figured out how to end the application, once you have the task switcher open you can 2 finger swipe and app away. Yes I know we should not have to do that but....at least I dont have to touch the screen for if and when I have to now :)

feel so tepid for not figuring this one out sooner.

What do you mean?
Create a shortcut to bring you to the hardware keyboard settings - accessible via home screen and widget:

URL: prefs:root=General&path=Keyboard/Hardware%20Keyboard
Open URL

I created a shortcut in the shortcut app with the instruction given by eninety with the settings above, that allows me to immediately go to the keyboard Hardware Settings and adjust The keyboard Backlight brightness Without having to click through 10 windows in the settings app. Add the Short cut widget to your home screen, and just click the short cut button, and you can slide the brightness to whatever you want or off. Hopefully apple has better solution with ios14, but this works amazingly for now..

With the trackpad -- do hot corners work like on Mac?
nope, no such thing as hot corners on the iPad. Only thing remotely similar is if you push the pointer deeply into the bottom or the right of the screen you can bring up the dock or slideover, respectively. But again, nothing like hot corners.

if it were me, I would do it right away. That’s not acceptable.

I’ve been using my 12.9” Magic Keyboard for just a couple of hours, so consider these very initial impressions.

First, some background. Although I have an iMac Pro and a Mac mini, along with a 2017 12” MacBook and 2018” MBP for “couch” use, I still get the most use out of my 11” 2018 iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. So basically, I’m a heavy iPad user :)

Last week, I got my 2020 12.9” and it fits the new Magic Keyboard like a glove! The weight really doesn’t bother me, although you can really tell it is more top-heavy than any laptop.

It took me longer than expected to get the trackpad/mouse settings to my liking. You have to go into 3 different Settings to configure! I sure hope iOS 14 improves upon this. Changing the pointer speed and ‘tap to click’ were the first things I had to tweak.

The keyboard is absolutely great to type on. Much better than my 2017 12” MacBook, and better than the 2018 13” MBP. The cursor support along with the trackpad is better than I was expecting. Selecting text is even easier than using the Apple Pencil. Although it’s annoying there are no keyboard controls for volume, the design of the case allows for perfect access to the standard volume buttons, not many cases can say the same.

My only concern is that the material of the palm rest and outside of the case is the same as the standard Smart Keyboard. I used this with my 11” Pro for nearly 1.5 years and of course it’s showing wear. It’s not terrible, and I’ve seen worse, but it seems like this thing is going to look pretty rough after 2-3 years.

In summary, the Magic Keyboard makes my 12.9” feel like a real laptop. For any serious work, I use a desktop. But for media consumption and typing posts like this, I think I’ve found a match made in heaven. Some will say “just use a laptop”. Well, with Promotion, and the speed of the iPad, it feels much snappier for app switching, scrolling and just general use.

I might even go so far as to say you're heavy Apple user.

Anyone able to make a similar shortcut for the trackpad settings?

I've used the same syntax (prefs:root=General&path=Trackad) but it doesn't work.

Another option to close apps...use cmd (⌘) tab to bring up the on screen bar of open apps (same as Ctrl-tab in Windows). While holding cmd (⌘), repeatedly hit tab to navigate to the app you want to close. Without lifting off of cmd (⌘), press Q.

Many ways to do the same task throughout the iPad. 😜
