Let's put it a different way. Mr. Wolf doesn't use many words, and those that he does use aren't particularly nice. And while a picture is worth a thousand words, he doesn't share those either.
Indeed because words themselves can only point you to the potential experience. And when you don't have any actual physical experiences to share with; then it's difficult to have "many" words to point to something which is nothing.

Wrong! I have shared many photos.

I have resisted for 331 posts ...
There have been some great, interesting side discussions, but frankly, most of the posts are a complete waste of time.
These interesting discussions should continue, just not in this thread and I was glad to see that @kenoh and @macmgg picked up and started new threads :) - THANK YOU!! I had the same thought but been busy the past few days with new drives, Big Sur upgrade and such ...

I'm gonna add 1 more observation about OP, he only seems to participate in threads he created - so here is to hope that these new thread will stay on topic, photography enthusiast centric and civil ... there is way too much hatred in the world going on right now and we don't need that here in this subforum ... we should embrace diversity, different viewpoints and learn and complement each other...

Your media score shows of 20 (which includes screenshots) says otherwise unless you are hosting your photos elsewhere. Ten actual photos is not many.

Try again. And maybe with that nice voice we talked about.
Quality above quantity.

Just for the heck of it I took a look at DPR's list of forums and by gum, they have one that is right up Mr Wolf's alley: A forum specifically dedicated to Canon Powershot Compact Cameras! Woot! Go for it, Buddy!

There is also a forum dedicated to beginners in photography, too, but to me the one related to the camera he has makes the most sense in terms of being useful.....

The forum format there is really poor, and it's unfortunate that in all these years they haven't seen fit to change it to a more user-friendly one! What I think is especially annoying is when someone posts an image or two and then everyone responding to that post repeats the same darned images over and over and over.....

I suppose there are SOME participants who are actually helpful and supportive, especially to newcomers, but yes through the years DPR has had a reputation for members not being nice in the forums. There are moderators on there but I don't know how effective they are or how mindful they are to their responsibilities. The reviews, done by staff, are a different story and they are quite useful indeed.

The DPR forums aren’t that bad. It’s just that’s it’s a older crowd and you need to be respectful. I think the average age of these forums is a bit younger so we tend to be more tolerant. But most of the DPR crowd are photographers with like 40+ years experience. Don’t mean to sound agist, but old guys don’t got the time for nonsense.

I’d say it’s mostly an older crowd in here as well! We have posters in their 70’s. You just wouldn’t know it as they come across much younger!

That is a good point, bsamacash -- most of the participants on DPR do seem to be older guys who have been around the photography block many times for many years, and a lot of them are definitely gear heads as opposed to being more concerned about the art and technique of photography. From what I've observed they like to talk about the gear and which lens is better than that lens, which brand is superior to other brands, etc. Many came from the days of Usenet and the art.rec.photo and other newsgroups which were the predecessor to web-based dedicated discussion forums. That happened to coincide with the era of digital photography coming into its own, and there was a lot of excitement at that time about all the fascinating new gear arriving on the scene.

There was also a lot of rivalry, too: Canon vs Nikon; Canon vs Sony; Nikon vs Sony.....and Sony's odd Mavica with its unique approach to memory storage vs just about everybody else's digital cameras with their standard CF cards. Lots of heated squabbling would go on over this, time and time again. Massive flamewars over what we would now regard as something rather trivial..... Digital photography was in its infancy and we were coming into our own right along with it as another developing young entity, the internet, too, grew and grew, coming truly the World Wide Web.

Ah, Usenet: the Wild, Wild West of the online world......

Ironically, it’s been my experience that it’s the older photographers that talk about DPR being so rough! I agree that here it’s pretty tame. There’s a hardware forum that I visit that gets downright nasty. You definitely have to let stuff roll off your back there. Granted, trolls aren’t too hard to identify.

I think canon sony and others need to add AI like Apple on top
I believe Apple uses AI/ML in its imaging pipeline because images would look rubbish if they didn’t. Small sensor, noise challenges, limited dynamic range, limited optics means a lot of the way images look need this approach to one degree or another. Canon, Nikon, Sony don’t need it in the same way. They already use it but in different ways, an example being all of the Eye-AF stuff.

Please lord no. The main selling point of pro/semi-pro cameras the that they are fully manual and predictable with RAW capture. I don't want the camera telling me how the photo should look.
That is what that Arsenal device is for right?

They already do apply AI with AF algorithms and things like Animal/face/head/eye detect. There are super high burst mode settings, scene modes and filters, and sensor shift modes to take higher resolution images. You can do in-camera HDR, focus stacking, and pretty much all cameras let you tweak various settings in the JPG output. And when it comes time to process your images, many software options apply lens corrections automatically and have advanced noise reduction and sharpening. ILC shooters of today has way more tools at their disposal. Phones just do all of the above mostly automatically, but I think most phone shooters want it that way.
