So lets play the Linux game...post your uptime

I wish you would have asked before I got my Kill-A-Watt... I've drastically changed how long I keep my computers on since I got it. But, I think the longest I ever kept a single Mac up was about 10 months. That was back in the PowerPC days. Now, with all the updates to OS X, I don't think my uptime goes much beyond 2-3 months.
AH! 20 Days! My machine isn't usually up for more than a few days. I recently "fixed" sleep on my X99 hack, but there's still a nasty audio bug that results in a restart here and there. Before, I would shut down every time I was done with the machine. Usually only a 6~ hour uptime unless it's a weekend...
If it's any consolation my hack was built to power efficient since here in Germany I probably pay twice what you do even in NYC. The Hack is connected to a 30" ACD and that thing uses more power than the computer does I think
What app is that?View attachment 634641
Are iOS devices allowed? (I shut down my Mac Pro every night so I don't win anything there)
Just 8 days, here. Rebooted after a reoccurring kp that I can't quite figure out.
SIP is disabled by default on Hackintoshs to prevent any problems with unsigned kexts. You should already have the mentioned RtVariables in your config.plist.
Both "rootless=0" and "kext-dev-mode=1" are useless in El Capitan, you can safely remove them.
I'd try using a Clover-based method to enable HDMI audio, e.g. this script.
I'm not sure what it means by "no IOReg/HDEF; BIOS/audio/disabled or ACPI problem"
Maybe this is a better description of my problem if anyone can help?
On Skylake motherboards, the audio device is called "HDAS" instead of "HDEF". You'll need to rename the audio device in your DSDT, which can be done with a simple Clover patch. Have a look at the audio chapter of this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/
Some motherboards like mine have the Creative Soundblaster series that are not well supported.
No, the Mac EFI portion will just be ignored. Will my flashed pc video card need to be flashed again to use in a hackintosh?
What kind of CPU cooler are you using?I just recently sold a Hackintosh with the following:
-Intel i7-4930K (overclocked to 4.4GHz)
-ASUS Rampage IV Formula
-Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290X (4GB Reference Model)
-16GB of Samsung (MV-3V4G3D/US) Memory
-512GB Crucial MX100 SSD
-Seasonic Platinum 1000W PSU
I had to play around with it a bit at first, but once I got everything figured out, it was rock solid and worked just like any other Mac. The only thing I wasn't able to get working was the ASMedia USB 3.0 controller (ended up just disabling it in the bios).
Anyway, as I said, I recently sold it (parted it out) because it wasn't getting used a whole lot (even though I never had any issues with it, I still never really felt comfortable using a Hackintosh as a primary work machine). I'm sure I'll end up building another one when I'm not so busy with work / have a bit more free time to mess around with it.
What kind of CPU cooler are you using?Building a Skylake now. 6700K overclock to 4.5Ghz. I will check InsanelyMac to see how they are going. Apparently only El Capitan can run on this chipset properly.

[doublepost=1466431161][/doublepost]Is it possible to overclock a GPU in OS X? If so, how? If not, is it possible to overclock a GPU in Linux and flash the BIOS so the overclocking will work in OS X?
