Are you at all concerned about the 13th and 14th gen issues? I'm not completely sure if Intel has the problems figured out right now.
There is a Page from Intel where @ least some can check if the CPU is not affected via Serial Number or ATPA and Batch Number FPO:
Select Prozessor and enter the Numbers...

I have not noticed any degradation on my 14700k as of yet

I’ve kept sensible power and voltage limits from the start so hopefully that helps

I do wish there was a definitive way to test it

Apparantly the only test anyone has figured out requires an nvidia gpu, which, running macOS i obviously don’t have
I have set the MSI CPU Lite to 1 to under clock and save energy so i guess that helped...
The concern that I have is that the issue on some was caused by oxidation which takes a toll over time. I assume that it's fixed by now but I wouldn't want to get one during the period of manufacturing problems. Intel hasn't released a date range for that issue. What's annoying is that they apparently have known about this problem for five months but really haven't said much about it.

AMD has a new 3 nm chip which looks a lot more interesting.
If i was

If i was buying a chip now I would certainly be looking at amd more closely than I normally would

Having already bought I can only hope my cpu is fine

I thought I read that the oxidation issue was 13th gen, while both were affected by crazy voltage requests

I do wish there was a way to test it
And the Info from Intel is weired at least for saying is not related and then later sometimes related to...
incidentally, as per buildzoid, it turns out you can simply set a limit on the voltage the cpu requests and that's that. no problems at at

edit: at least on gigabyte z790. don't know about other bios/boards

14.6 on my Z490 RX 6600 with AX210 and BT Stick runs as it should.

Update as usual since 14.4 i think with:

SecureBoot disable (Bios)
SecureBootModel Disabled (OpenCore Config)
AirportItlwm Disabled (OpenCore Config)
BT kext´s Disabled (OpenCore Config)

Update all Kext and OC

Update MacOS

Activate SecureBootModel
AirportItlwm
BT kext´s
(OpenCore Config)

Enroll EFI in Bios for SecureBoot

Done.

For my Hackintosh i remember that after the 14.6 Update MacOS was not requiring a new blessing of the NVME after activating SecureBootModel in OpenCore again.

After the 14.6.1 Update i had to bless my NVME like normal 1 time. I also could not directly connect via ScreenSharing. I had to switch it off and on in the SystemSettings then it worked again directly.

My MBA M2 only showed the 14.6 Update on the 7th of August and i was greeted with the 14.6.1 this Morning immediately

So i would guess there could be a serious security issue with 14.6.

I don't care at all, but it is required for some games to run under Windows.
Since this Z490 is a triple boot...
Take precautions when updating Windows.

I have the Luxury of several separated NVME´s for each System that avoids any Problem related to this.
This is not the first time Windows is hacking the Boot Efi or writing certificates into incompatible NVRAM etc. so anybody with some experience should now :)

My Dual Boot Laptop 1 NVME 2TB is unaffected, my Zorin is always up to date...
I think i do not try my luck, should i... yes i did...
no probs...

Btw.: also my Hackintosh OpenCore Bootloader is running.

I swear to God that Microsoft and their ilk of dispersed, disorganised manufacturers couldn't organise a nun shoot in a convent. How do they mess up so much ? How is it that they perform so LITTLE oversight of such important things - I always feel that they just react poorly to what others do, and on that reaction, they rush out whatever they can and then totally forget to implement the process about 2 weeks later, but I digress from the topic in hand, so I'll stop there.

I mean, look how they are still using control panel in windows 11, wich still does thing Settings won't do.

the trade off is that you can still run windows 11 on pretty much any x86 machine you can get your hands on regardless of how ancient as long as it can do uefi. (you can get around secure boot and tpm)

macOS becomes more and more difficult the older the machine all the way to impossible to even boot

I am from the older GenX and have all Networked so i do not use Handoff or Continiuty also not on my MBA M2 but i would guess it does not work. Some of this features have worked with Airportitlwm.kext and my BCM based iogear BT USB Stick.

My Config is listed in my Sig. and i have tested Graphic and CPU Performance with Cinebench2024.
On my Hardware it is faster with MacPro 7,1 SmBios and deactivated internal UHD630 which my CPU also has.

The mentioned Network Problems with Sequoia are also not Present on my Mac´s because i manage all Network related Stuff in my Router Mesh.

I am also from the "older GenX" and find handoff and continuity features invaluable to some of my workflows, but obviously everyone uses computers differently

what are the "mentioned network problems" in sequoia?

What Laptops in 2024 would make sense for Hackintoshing? What newer laptops are compatible for Mac, if anyone knows?

No one, Apple Silicon laptops are just in another league.

I'll expand on that. It could be done, but you are on borrowed time.

Keep in mind that the first M1 Mac came out in 2020, so that was the first one on Silicon. If the trend holds well, one would have a 7-year OS support cycle for the hardware it will run on. The example I bring up is my mid-2011 13" MBA. MacOS High Sierra was released in 2017, and a year from that, that MBA was labeled as unsupported. Taking that in, the last Intel Mac was released in 2019.

When the M1 Mac was released, Apple said that they would still support Intel Macs via Rosetta 2 "until a future time" when they will drop Rosetta 2 support, and by extension, all Intel Support. If the math is right, that would put it around 2026-2027 at the latest. So you should be able to find an x86 version of MacOS, but when Rosetta 2 support is dropped, all Intel Support will be dropped. From current day, you may be on 2 year's time for using something as a Hackintosh.

Not really worth it at this point in time.
