Just ordered an

11" i5/8GB/512GB SSD

I had been waiting for the announcement today because I really wanted a new Pro, but realized I didnt need the retina screen, even though the new 13" Macbook Pro has a nice price point, the Air offered mostly what I wanted which was portability. And I don't do much heavy lifting like most folks here so I figured the Air it is.

I have currently have a Macbook Unibody Rev 6,1 it's about 3-4 years old, a new laptop was due! :)

You all seem to love your Air's, so I think I am good shape, can't wait to see what an SSD is like.

I just got that exact configuration - it came in on Monday and after a trip-up where it turned out my 2010 Pro's "Thunderbolt" port was only good for video output, I got my data transferred yesterday using a FireWire adapter. I upgraded the Air to Mavericks, then closed it for the night. Right now the battery is at 87% with 6:57 remaining. I'm surprised it's not better, but it's also a new machine and I need to look through the stuff ported over that I don't need to load at boot.

I love it so far, I think you will too.

In a coffee shop.
Earlier this summer, I ordered it, and today, belatedly, I have finally managed to lay hands on my CTO, 13" MBA. (I work abroad, and am away for months at a time; the CTO had not been ready when I last returned abrad to work, hence, I bought an 11" refurb - with 2012 specifications - to tide me over in the meantime.)

Anyway, this CTO it is the 2013 model, with 512 SSD, 8 GB RAM, and has an i7 Core. For the past three months, I have been using my 11" exclusively, (which I love - it is extremely portable).

Surprisingly, a few of the chicklet keys on the 11" began to give trouble, - the number '1' key kept coming loose, and today, it was despatched to Apple to deal with; the MBA is still under warranty (it was only bought in July).

However, using the 13", this evening, a blazing fast machine, I am amazed at the sheer size of the screen real estate. Compared with 11", 13" now seems enormous, but welcome for my eyes......

Anyway, I am enjoying greeting my new computer.....

Personally 11" is just too small for me, but maybe it's good for you. That SSD will be a major upgrade

Just finally ordered a 13/i5/256 last night. :D

11" should be fine :)

I had a 11" 2011 Air as my main work machine until August, but since it got upgraded to a MacBook Pro Retina 15" (love the retina screen and the form factor compared to the old Pro 15") I thought that for my personal notebook it was a good idea to get back to maximum portability this time around.

Congrats on your new 13"!

Made my first Macbook purchase ever, the 11/i7/512 2013 version; it'll be delivered on Tuesday. It's a refurbished one (also a new experience for me) so I'm a little nervous about it. I almost sprung for brand new, but saw one with maxed specs on the refurb page and decided to save some money. I believe it came to about $400 in savings!

I sold my 2012 MBA 13 fully loaded and just ordered the 2013 model.
Its a fully loaded MBA from the refurb store. Can't wait to get it. The battery life and Haswell, drew me in to this computer, even though I have a 15 inch rMBP.

There was a 3 day option for my delivery, only standard shipping. Found it fairly strange as they are delivering through DHL, which I know have options to get it here (UAE, Dubai) within a day from reciveing the package. Which I have used many times from other companies sending me packages here.

Got my MBA today. Its a full spec refurb. The battery charge cycle is 34. I find that a little high... what do you guys think?

I sold my 2012 MBA after a year and I just had 50 cycles. Wondering how come a new/demo/return refurb unit has 34 cycles....

We only have Authorised Resellers here. Purchasing electronics can be a frustrating experience living here.

WOW!.. I just passed through Dubai, just the airport and not outside and I was constantly bombarded by promotional materials on how it is a shoppers paradise.

The duty free had abundance of the usual suspects, alcohol and tobacco but electronics was far and few and were very expensive compared to US rates.

After spening 5 hours installing Logic Pro on my MBA 13, I was reading some articles online and noticed that the text was flickering baddd... when scrolling.

I remember having this issue with my 2012 MBA and had it replaced. It had an LG panel and the replacement was a Samsung panel. I happily used it for a year before I sold it.

Now this one has a Samsung panel and yet the flickering while scrolling is horrible. The text almost becomes invisible and then slowly darkens back when you stop scrolling.

Called Apple and they said they will replace the unit. Haven't gotten the shipping label yet.

Another weird thing I noticed is when I boot the MBA and gray screen with the Apple logo appears, there is a bright flash, almost xenon white and then the screen comes back to the gray screen.

Anyone have that? Wonder if Mavericks update did that as I can't remember.

I had the exact same issue with the unit I ordered a few weeks ago. It had a Samsung panel (that also had a ridiculously poor color gamut, well everything about that display was just really, really bad). Got it replaced last week for an LG equipped machine and I am much happier.

While the screen is still poor compared to competition (I think I'll never get over it, especially that the MBA is such an amazing computer save for that), there is no flicker, contrast and colors are ok. I can live with it, especially when getting 15h battery life :)

Anyway, I think this might be my "I just got my new MBA" post. I was waiting till I was sure I am keeping it and well... I am. I have been using it for around 10 days now, my switch to OSX is complete (I only need to get the Office for Mac suite, cause what Apple provides is a joke). I am really happy with the battery life and overall performance. I adore the fact that I can just close/open the lid, I never turn the machine off. I had some teething issues after restoring the unit with Timemachine from the previous Samsung-panel unit, but all in the past now.

Very happy with my purchase and my first Mac indeed :)

Congrats on a great machine!

I talked to Apple and they are playing coy about this issue and I told them even their support community is full of threads where people are discussing this issue.

I am afraid that even the replacement I get might have the same problem.

Hence I have decided to return it and probably go for the 13" rMBP Pro. It will be a half a pound heavier and nowhere as portable as the MBA, but I am just tired of getting faulty screens and replacing them... :(

In hindsight, I should not have sold the 2012 MBA.... Well I was tempted by the haswell and battery life.

Hope they update the MBA with a higher resolution next time...

I was in this exact same boat as you are.

I figured if I get another one with a faulty screen I'll just return it and get the rMBP. I wouldn't be happy for the exact same reason as well. I just prefer the portability of the Air (0,5lb on paper is not 0,5lb in your bag you carry around all day) and the form factor.

I really hope you get one with an acceptable screen.

Outside of the airport there is a huge abundance of malls, even the worlds largest! But most of them are filled up with high-end designer fashion shops. Though we do have a small computer mall which you can find all sorts of 1st and 2nd hand computers at some good prices.
