Old one is recycled to wife in place of her Mini - so I get to experiment on the Mini now !

Now-- I hope these rumors of an update next week don't screw up my order. I may have to do a return and re-order if there really is a refresh. ><

Looks like I lucked out on them not updating the top-end model of the MBA. I miss out on the $100 price drop, but that's just $100 that I would have pissed away somewhere else I suppose. haha

Maybe I'll see if I can get a store credit, or a discount on Apple Care or something. Anyone have any experience with this?

Ordered the 13" mBA last night
Refurbished 13.3-inch MacBook Air 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5

Now, checking the serial number in my support profile it shows:
MacBook Air 13 inch Core i7 (Mid 2013) :eek::D
1.7GHz
Week 7 Feb 2014

Fingers crossed for RAM upgrade and HDD upgrade as well.

Arrives tomorrow

Picked up a 2013 13" Macbook Air at a significant discount at my work yesterday, opted for the 4GB RAM / 256GB SSD option. Had 8GB been an option I would definitely get that for comfort but it wasn't an option, sadly. I have a 27" iMac I use a little bit each day and this machine is going to try and replace it, I have about 13 days to see if this was the right choice for me.

I don't mean to over-post-- but I got my "Ready for Pickup" email, and am even more distracted than I have been all week! haha. Is it 5 yet? I just want to go get my new MBA and go sit in a coffee shop and work. :)

Jeez... I just picked up my unit today and already had to perform surgery on it. Had to pull up the escape key cause it was really hard to press. Found a loose screw jammed at the edge of the cutout for the key. Took it out. The key seems to work about 90% as well as the other function keys... whatever. haha

I would exchange it. I would not want a new computer to have anything working at 90%...

Eh, I think there is some plastic that is slightly altered where the screw was jammed in. I need to take off the key and look at it again a little more. Probably an easy fix. If not, then my friend works at the genius bar and can sort it out.

I've come to appreciate the comfort one can find in reminding themselves that nothing in life is perfect. Obviously, this is not a reason to become complacent with bigger problems-- but it's a good way to remind yourself to not sweat the small stuff. ;)

I agree with not sweating the small stuff, but a $1000+ device not in perfect condition within the first 24-48 hours is not small stuff, IMO.

Would you say the same thing about an oil leak in a new car? How about a dead pixel in a new TV? Or a blender that may be missing a one blade (it has three instead of four)?

Not trying to be difficult, but it sounds like you have too much money to care about this purchase.

I certainly don't have too much money to care about my purchase. My lack of concern with the issue is rooted in the fact that the escape button is working 100% of the time that I press it. It just feels *different* from the other function keys. That's what I meant by the "90%" figure before, the key travel tension is ~10% firmer on the escape key. BEFORE I took out the screw-- it was really difficult to press, but now the difference is negligible. I am willing to bet with continued use, either A) the travel tension will soften up (possible, but unlikely), B) I will no longer notice it (probable), or C) It will drive me mad and I will get it looked at (highly unlikely). It really is VERY minor.

If it becomes a problem down the road, I've already told my friend that is an Apple Genius that I had to do this little repair. She has already told me to go ahead and come in and they can look at it at some point. I will wait to see what the outcome is. I have pictures of the screw in the machine, and a picture of the extracted screw, as well as the screw itself. I'm more than prepared should I need to get it looked at.

Lol im amazed, I really am stoked.

If it helps anyone, i ordered at about 1935 GMT with 24 delivery.
I know when i looked later in the night during my night shift (about 4 hours later) they were all sold out, so not sure if there was a run on the base refurbs due to the price drop.

Guess I can post in here again. Just ordered a base model 11" Air from Best Buy with the current student discount sale.

Going to see if it's better than an upgraded iPad Air (w/ case + keyboard), for not a whole lot more $, to go with my 13" i7/8gb/256 I've been in love with since August. Not sure if it'll stay or go, but for the price I thought it was worth trying out.

Should be here next week, none of the local stores had one in stock to go pick up. :(

Nice. What did you use to check the specs after ordering?

Chipmunk.nl is listing the base 13" refurb I ordered as having the 1.7GHz Core i7 and very recent production week: 15 (April). I've got a few days before it arrives and I'm just wondering about the accuracy of that site.

That's exactly what I used mate and it was bang on.
Only thing I can think is a run on returns and that's all they have left...
It never showed the Memory just said 4GB or 8GB.
Fingers crossed for you

Just ordered the Macbook Air 13 inch model... newest version with a 1.4 GHz processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB SSD.

With a promo code, it came out to $1,061 at MacMall. No sales tax or shipping charges either. Also had cashback on my Discover card so the real price is around $1,011. Not too bad! Basically a free RAM upgrade.

I quite fancy a refurb i7 1.7/8/512 to replace my 2012 i7 2.0/8/512. Tempted to order the i5/4/512 spec and see if I get a free upgrade lol.

Just ordered a 13" MBA refurb and can't wait. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as some of the other posters on this thread re: unintended updates. Either way I'll be using a computer way faster than the old white macbook I am typing this on.
