I ordered my Air on the 24th for delivery here in Birmingham UK tomorrow, last sign of it was a departure scan on Friday in Warsaw and nothing since. UPS are no longer giving me a delivery date. Has it fallen of the back of the truck?

The drama has ended.

I returned my first Air as I realized it would be better suited to be my main computer so I upgraded the hard drive when I bought again. I received that unit, and it was warped. The bottom left pad would not touch.

Fearing that I would have to do an Apple.com return because I order a BTO from them, I called my local Apple Store and sure enough they had it in stock. Swapped out on the spot and super happy.

Awesome machine.

Just picked up a 13" base MBA from Best Buy yesterday using their student coupon. I'm coming from a late 2013 13" rMBP and I'm glad I made the switch. Wish I had gone with the MBA in the first place.

Just got my new 11" MBA 2 days ago. Loving it so far, it's such a nice machine and I really can't get over how small it is. Coming from an old 15" Toshiba, the size difference is insane.

Did you guys ever workes with Latex on a MacBook Air 13 inch? Is it a good idea or should I better consider a MacBook Pro Retina 13 or 15 inch model? I want to use a Editor like Texmaker where I can type on the left sight and see the output on the right side. I am know sure if there is enough space for that since the resolution is not that high?

I want to write down my notes in the university library with help of latex, matlab, Inkscape and some programs for windows (would install parallels).

I don't have any MacBooks with Latex to test thats why I need your help with your experience.

Thank you

Ordered my 11" last Sunday. Today, I got this: A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible. / Your package was released by the clearing agency.

Not what I wanted to see... It was scheduled for delivery on Monday, but now UPS says all bets are off.

The "I just bought/ordered/got/shipped my new/refurb MBA" thread, merged

Ordered an 11" MBA today from the refurb store. Couldn't resist the offer, I'm getting it for less than my Education discount would be for a brand new one.(It's the April 2014 128GB Model). :)

Why? Just curious. I, like many others here are trying to decide between an air or shelling out a few extra hundred for a pro retina. Just curious to hear your input.

Just bought a 13" Air with 256GB SSD. Expensive, but yes. Much good. Very beauty. So shiny. Wow.

Uh, only thing is that I might have to return it because I don't know if i can afford it lol.

I ordered a 13" MBA with an i7 processor, 8gb ram, and 256gb SSD. Coming from a mid 2011 13" MBP I'm so excited for the thinness and amazing battery life the MBA will offer. I wish they had a few of these custom MBA in stores so I would be able to pick one up quick without having to wait and get it shipped from China...

Wondering how do you felt about such a huge change in display (since you were using the retina one).

Im thanking to buy one as well (MBA 11" Intel Core i7 dual-core a 1,7 GHz 8RAM 256GB HD) mainly coz I need a small computer to fit my on the go needs. Currently have the late 2013 rMBP.

Could you comment pls.

Thanks a ton,

Thanks a ton,

I am also thinking of selling my late 2013 15" (top-end) rMBP (only bought due to the crazy price). I went through six 2014 13" rMBP and all have had image retention, so I've just bought a base 13" MBA for university (which is still sealed while I decide as I cannot return it once it is opened due to the price I got it for).

I don't need the processing power of the rMBP (so 4GB is more than enough for me), but I have a perfect screen on my rMBP and the 15" is nice to work on (I can have word open and a PDF side by side at the highest scaled resolution).

I don't want to own two computers as it seems redundant for my needs (also have a tablet for reading medical books - saves carrying them on campus).

Hey,

I just ordered a 13" MBA with the 256gb SSD and the 8gb of RAM, does anyone know how long it takes to build these, plus then the 3 days shipping? Can't imagine Apple actually makes these items build to order, they sell that many they must have warehouses full! Also, will it ship from the UK (I'm in the UK) or will it ship for Singapore or somewhere out that way?

Many thanks
James

You can always look in the refurb section. I believe I found a 13" MBA with those exact specs but it was in the U.S. only...

Don't worry. You'll justify keeping it no matter how thin your reasoning becomes. I've done it several times before and I'll continue to do so aslong as apple keeps pumping out shiny things.

If it's anything like BTO iMacs, probably about a day.

I ordered a BTO iMac 8/21/14 at 17:56 CDT, and it shipped out Monday evening.

Hello

I order a MBA on 25/8/14 and UPS have just said the exact same thing to me! How long did yours take to clear this error and how long after the original delivery date did it deliver?

Many thanks
James

I bought the computer on Sunday, Apple got it out on I believe Tuesday, and the computer was delivered on the next Monday. I think they expedited the shipment after the delay. Here's the tracking info: http://wwwapps.ups.com/etracking/tr...iryNumber=T&InquiryNumber1=1ZV501976775593938

Basically, 10 days... Longer than I would have like, but normal as far as I can tell. I live in a relatively large city, near a UPS regional distribution center.

Thanks a ton,

Honestly, for real life use the display difference is only slightly noticeable to me and only at certain times. Sometimes I'll think "this looked better on the retina display", but that doesn't mean it hinders my usage in any way.

I needed more portability and better battery life. I actually did notice a weight difference in my backpack and the open MBA is just easier to carry around one handed. I'm on the go A LOT though, so I know not every needs the ultra portability that I value.

Just ordered a MBA 11 (i5, 8GB, 128GB) and I wish it was here already. It's going to be a bit of an adjustment from using a 17" HP Envy though...
