Apple now says my order has shipped and UPS says it departed from Facility in Shanghai after going through Export Scan.

I wanted to provide a detailed history in case it helps anyone else, as I know the process was frustrating for me. I got a lot of great info from y'all so I want to return the favor.
Midnight MBA 10/24/2 (fully loaded) ordered within 5 minutes of preorders at on the apple education site. Initial estimate was Aug 2-9. My apple card was eventually charged on (i believe) the 24th and within a day it was preparing for shipment. Est delivery was updated to Aug 1-8. Was shipped via UPS International saver or whatever it's called. Initial estimate when UPS got the label on the 25th was Aug 29. Below is the shipping progress pics. Throughout the course, apple held steady on ship date. UPS would change from the 29th to 27th to 28th depending on whatever the system felt like putting in (LOL I'm sure it was probably some system estimate, but it didn't seem to correlate to anything). After it cleared customs in China, suddenly UPS said estimated delivery unknown, and my guaranteed window was canceled. That was on the app and details, however on the overview in the UPS my choice app it continued to show the 28th. Once it left Incheon and got to Anchorage, UPS updated the delivery day to the 29th. That ended up being correct. I live in a fairly major city (Norfolk, VA). I'll check back once or twice in the next few days in case anyone has any questions about my progress, but I hope this helps someone.
I picked up my Starlight 8/10/16/1T this morning at the Apple Store. I'm really glad I went ahead and grabbed this one and didn't wait for the other order to be delivered. The store wasn't very busy, and I was in and out in about 10 minutes.
I think the color is gorgeous! It exactly matches the Starlight on my iPad Mini. It almost looks silver until you see it next to my Space Grey Intel MacBook Pro.
I haven't done a lot with it yet... just poking around at it and getting things set up the way I like them. But compared to the Pro, it feels really zippy. I like the keyboard. But, I was a fan of the Touch Bar, and now I'm going to have to get used to function keys again. So far it's been completely cool, but I haven't stressed it at all.
I saw the Midnight in the store. It's a really, really pretty color. But I think the smudges would drive me nuts. The Starlight really doesn't show any yet. Although that might change with age.
I'm very, very happy.
Hoping for swift and uneventful journeys for all of the MBAs winging their ways to all of you!

Mine did that, which went on for 2 days. Since Wednesday DHL is reporting it as "Picked Up" but still in China!

Mine is hopefully following the same pattern. I noticed yours delivered one day after receiving this information. UPS has mine delivering on Monday, August 1.
Well my Silver 10/24/2 delivered 3 days earlier yesterday. Everything lined up and it made it here. Thank you for all your feedback and best to you all.

Ordered on the 15th midnight 8/10 /512/16 , just moved to preparing to ship today, how do you track by reference on FedEx or UPS? Tried order number and phone number.
Apple says mine shipped. UPS says they are lying. The preorder ponzi scheme is now the clown show.
Preparing isn't shipped. Once it's shipped you'll receive a UPS or FedEx tracking reference.
Mine shipped Wednesday and still hasn't left China.
Finally “Processed at Auckland” at 07:02 this morning woohoo! Just as predicted, there was no scan activity between “Picked up in Shanghai” and arriving/processing in Auckland.

took 2-3 days from preparing to be shipped to shipped. However shipped does not really mean shipped as there is still no tracking info after 12 hours..
They do a Saturday delivery, just not part of their regular service. You have to pay extra for Saturday deliveries:

"Saturday" and "Morning scheduled" deliveries are an additional payment service.
My MBA FINALLY showed up Friday, I haven't had time to get it set up until today. It shipped FedEx and took 5 days to arrive at my local depot, then another 2 days for Fedex to hold it because 'it wasn't due for delivery.' But it's here now and it's everything I thought it would be. Comically enough, it's the same thickness as my 2016 MBP 15" Touch Bar. This is my first 13" laptop and I'm still deciding if it's actually big enough for my liking. I wanted it for portability, which it is absolutely perfect for! Thankfully, I really love the new notched design, I just wish we could have face-ID on MacBooks.
It does get quite warm where the SOC is though. If they release the rumored 15" MBA or MB next year, I may trade this for that. OR if they introduce the MBP in midnight (would trade for that immediately.) The keyboard is amazingly responsive and the updated trackpad is wonderful. The midnight color does show fingerprints immediately, but that doesn't bother me much. It doesn't seem noticeable for most people, but the lid magnets are fantastic now, I always disliked how much force it took to open my 2016 MBP. Overall, it's a fantastic laptop for $1600 bucks (EDU store) {Midnight/10/16/1tb/67w}
