What a long strange trip its been
UPS Blew the sort in Secaucas so it cycled back to KY, but it's finally here.
First impressions compared to the M1 its replacing.
Taking it out of the box it feels lighter.
MagSafe strong solid connection, welcome change from USB C
Camera, meh looks the same.
Keyboard Just fine, liking the full size function keys.
Screen just fine, colors, viewing angle great, no defects or bleeding.
Sound stage smaller than M1 but perfectly usable for a machine with no visible top speaker grills.
Processor, feels quicker. Even though spotlight is still indexing, I wouldn't know it.
It also ripped through migration using thunderbolt in about and 1hour:40 mins.
Trackpad fine and touch id is less finicky then the M1.
Finger prints, overblown. Your screen / keyboard will get smudged. If the case bothers you more get silver.
Its a keeper

I just picked up my M2 MacBook Air in Space Grey the 8CPU/10GPU 8GB/512GB configuration. I'm going to play around with it for the next 2 weeks and see if I can replace my iPad Pro. I like the customizability, I wish iPad let me move icons exactly where I wanted them, notifications are way better on MacOS than iPad and I love how light this thing is. I'm looking forward to testing out battery life and the typing experience (so far loving it more than my magic keyboard).
Well... My Starlight 10/16/512 was still sitting stubbornly in "processing." But, I've been haunting the online store, just out of curiosity you know. And it turned out that if I bumped the storage up to 1T and was willing to take the 35 W charger I could pick it up tomorrow at the store nearest me. So... I don't really need 1 T, but... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sometimes it's better to just get more than you need. I did that with colour, space grey wasn't my first choice but at the end of the day it's just a colour and it's still a nice one overall so oh well.
I like space grey. I've had two or three space grey MBPs, and my iPhone is space grey.
I wanted to go a different way this time. I have a starlight iPad Mini, and I think it's a really gorgeous color. It looks really nice with the dark cherry cover I have on it.
Just showed up on MyChoice! Delivers on August 2nd unlike Apple's ETA of August 10 - 16.

Mine was 'Preparing for Shipment' for 2 days and reverted to 'Pickedup' on Wednesday and hasn't progressed beyond that in 48 hours!
DHL don't deliver Saturday's unless Apple paid extra (which I doubt). Always a working day.
DHL doesn't do a Saturday delivery. Will be Monday if it's not out for delivery today.
I know this isn't the post where you asked me lol, but yeah mine did the exact same as yours re: app vs online delivery date. They arrived in KY early this AM and since then have quickly made it to my delivery office, so I'm assuming today is still on although it doesn't show out for delivery generally for me until about 1000. Ordered my Midnight 10/16/1tb/67w, 2 minutes into pre-orders. Finally shipped last Friday, got to my local FedEx warehouse this Wednesday, and they've been holding it since. It has an ETA of today, fingers crossed it actually shows up. I'm working until 1530 today, so hopefully the day will go by quick and I can get home and set it up. My first new MacBook since 2016 and I'm over the moon excited.
Out for delivery! Anyone know if UPS requires signatures in the US? I don't see signature required on the UPS MyChoice app or any tracking details so I assume not?
So there is UPS shipment activity on the weekends (although no deliveries).

It needs to come across the Puget sound before it goes “out for delivery,” though, so I’m not positive it will make it today…
Does UPS worldwide express saver do Saturday delivery?
Oh? Over here (The Netherlands) they do Saturday delivery. They even do Sunday delivery. UPS on the other hand doesn't do any delivery on a weekend day over here.
