Has anyone noticed a specific time frame orders change from "available to ship?" as in, is there any time of day it's not worth refreshing the page? haha

Haven't you set up iMessage/SMS notification? That's how mine is and they SMS me as soon as a change is made.

Ha! Yeah...I've tried to set my expectations low, but my wife keeps getting excited saying "You'll have it before you know it!", so that makes it a little worse because I KNOW it's gonna be a bit.

----------

My B&H order has said that since Dec 19th...

Sorry bro:(

That's disappointing, but I'm hoping that orders are starting to get ramped-up and maybe my late order will coincide at juuuuuuuuuust the right time.

One can hope.

On the theory that a watched pot never boils, I challenge the group to go 24 hours without hitting refresh. Is it possible? (not sure if I can meet my own challenge).

I once did this for most of a day and definitely felt better about life!

The problem is that last time I was in this situation (1st gen rMBP launch), my order did turn from processing to shipping as I was repeatedly refreshing!

I have a pending charge of $212 and some odd change on my bank account this morning from Apple online store. I assume that is the apple care charge, since my cost was $199 for it (educational discount). Maybe I am getting a step closer to shipping notification.

So it seems like 3 a day... maybe it should have been made in China after all

I doubt it's a problem at the assembly factory unless they just have no workers. By my estimation, there couldn't be a consistent demand of more than 1000 oMP a day given the number of total Macs sold. Most of that factory look automated, and it allegedly already has something like hundreds of workers, so it's Gotta be parts shortage. Even with all the workers shown on the video (unless they were actors) should be able to crank out a few hundreds a day.

Makes a lot of of sense that. Really it boils down (yet again) to communication. If Apple came out and said "Look, we're delighted by the number of orders that have been placed for the new Mac Pro [insert more hyperbole here] however parts are constrained and we don't estimate being up to full production capabilities until [insert date here]."

Couple that with realistic shipment estimates (using real dates rather than obscure months) and we'd all probably be much happier.

Even if it's not-so-good news, it's better to have *something* tangible to hang your hat on than endless disappointment when you click refresh for the six hundredth time that day.

Apple "probed" my credit card for the AppleCare amount a day after I ordered (12/27) and subsequently the pending charge was dropped. That's how they roll...

I ordered mine on 12/19 and this is the first pending charge I've seen. Got my fingers crossed that I'm not just getting probed

I decided to email the Apple CSR I placed my order with last night to check in, woke up this morning to find it's preparing for shipping! Don't think there's any causation there but still, progress!

EDIT: And now it's been shipped! Expected delivery 1/20/2014!

Two nights ago my CC was charged for AppleCare. Last night for the whole computer. It shipped today (8 core/32gb/512gb/D700). I ordered around 2:20am PST on launch day, Dec 19th. Finally. What's that, 3 months from announcement and 7 months from the preannouncement? :)

Well, for what it's worth I got hands on mine yesterday.

Mind you, I am upgrading from a dual core i7 MacBook Pro and a quad core i7 Mac Mini Server, so in every respect I am blown away by the speed and power this thing offers. I ran some test renders and one scene where the Mini needed over 40 minutes a frame the nMP was spending less than 4 minutes per.

I can now scrub HD video in Premiere and After Effects in real time with no lag or stutter.

I can do that now on my rMBP 15" or the iMac late 2012 maxed model 27" with a Thunderbolt RAID or an SSD. My hope is it exports out of Premiere faster.

I'm going from those systems to an 8-core nMP with dual D700s, so I expect to see some improvement on core count alone, nevermind dual GPU use on export with Adobe premiere Pro CC. After effects uses almost exclusively CPU, so I don't expect to see as much impact there.

Interesting to see so many of us on here are Premiere users. I've loved it since switching after FCPX came out, didn't realize I was among this many others.

I've tried playing around in FCPX a number of times but one of my primary cameras is an XF300. FCPX supports Canons MXF format, but it doesn't seem to understand the merged archives created by the canon utility. (I created the merged archives because Resolve used to have issues with multiple MXF clips). I much prefer how Premiere can see and access media at the "file" level (ie I can just drag and drop a merged MXF file into premiere and it see's it fine, whereas FCPX gives me issues)

Since Premiere CC came out though I've really had less interest in FCPX. I was specifically waiting for multi-cam flattening support which it finally has. Makes round tripping multi-cam to Resolve much easier now. I also find it much easier to produce high quality compressed video from Media Encoder then Compressor.

Its a bummer to find out the timeline preview only supports a single card, but as I work pretty much only in 2-2.5K at the moment, shouldn't be an issue. Can't wait to check out renders with the 2xD700's.

A look at the spreadsheet seems to confirm that Apple is not filling orders in the order they were logged. That kind of sucks for those that rushed in when the store opened.
