Nice office... Is that the Sharp Display? Can you provide some more thoughts on that?

Yes, it's the Sharp display. So far I'm happy with it ... great resolution. I wish I had a choice to increase the menu fonts in OSX ... but maybe that'll come.

Finally...

My order got shipped today as well. I placed my order at 12:31am PST for an 8C/1TB/16GB/D700.
I had called Apple to update my credit card (got new cards with a new number) back in December and they upgraded my shipping to overnight free of charge. Apple consistently does this for customers that call in to check on their order. They upgraded my shipping on my iPhone back in September when I had to change my shipping address, plus they comp'd me a free $39 case.

To those that haven't had their orders ship - it is worth a call to Apple!

I apologize - your analysis was right

The one ordered at 6am is a 8c/64gb/1tb/D700 which matches only 1 other config in the US store, at 12:30 which also shipped.

The other, at 5:45am is a 6c/64gb/1tb/D700 which matches 2 other configs. One ordered at 12:30 which also was shipped, and one ordered at 12:39 which doesn't have any update status. There's no username attached to it, so its possible that person just hasn't come back and updated the sheet. Though its also an edu order (like mine) which I've known in the past sometimes gets de-prioritized.

I was informed though that about 2-3 days ago my order came up for approval, hoping thats a sign that things are moving.

My order shipped today and it was the same configuration as a Canadian order that also shipped today.

Mine shipped today. Unfortunately it shipped ground so I am not supposed to see it until next week. I saw someone's post about calling apple last week and did so. The Apple guy assured me "apple always ships next day whenever there's a delay between order and availability." That didn't happen.

My bank called around 8:30am PST to verify the purchase and by 9:30 I received the notice of shipment. I called immediately to see if they could fix this and they said no.I whined and the guy offered me $100 store credit (available to me in 3-5 business days) I'll take it, but I'd rather have my nMP tomorrow... The short version, definitely call apple...

Oh well, at least it's not the VERY End of January. BTW, My order was placed about 10 minutes after the store came back online, roughly 12:30am PST.

My new prize:

3.5GHz 6-core with 12MB of L3 cache
32GB (4x8GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC
512GB PCIe-based flash storage
Dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM each

What is the HOLD UP APPLE !!!!!!!!

Seriously Apple, why sell something if you an't deliver it. I ordered 12/19, and has indicated WILL SHIP IN January ever since. What the heck ! O order stuff direct from China and get it quicker even going through customs. No excuse of this kind of delay.

My order is the same configuration as two orders that got marked Prepared for Shipping today to Europe (6C/16/1TB/D700). Both of the European orders were submitted AFTER my order but yet mine has not budged from processing. So it doesn't look to be solely based on identical configurations.

FedEx beating Apple delivery date?

Not sure if it's normal but I just received an email from Apple saying my Mac Pro shipped :) with a delivery date of Jan. 22nd.

Clicking on the 'Track Shipment' button brings me to FedEx's site. There is tells me the delivery date is Jan 17th.

That's a pretty big spread. Is that normal?

Truthfully I'd rather have picked it up in Austin. Went to the F1 race there this November and had the time of my life! Hopdoddy Burger Bar... mmmmmmm.

Thanks for the tips :) I called them and they said they will upgrade my shipping method to the fastest one they can choose. But they used a interesting phrase "When it enters US" to describe the shipping process... Is that a human error or Apple finally decided to move most of manufacturing processes back to China?

It's a brand new product that has been totally redesigned AND it is being assembled in brand new factory in the US.

When you pre-ordered it you knew the ship time was going to be sometime in January. You still got 2 more weeks for that. Saying there is no excuse for the poor communication is one thing. Saying there is no excuse for this kind of delay ... boggles me. You knew what you were getting into lol.

Mine changed to:

I hate to be the repeated bearer of "meh" news but my B&H order has said "Drop ship order submitted to vendor UPS ground" since the 12/19...

I wouldn't blame B&H, they're a pretty amazing place, this is all apple. Hopefully since B&H is usually a preferred customer of apple's, they'll get first dibs on stuff (like 12 cores) once supply stops being so damned spotty.

Are you're orders from B&H 12-core? Maybe that's why they haven't changed yet.

For those whose orders are still stuck on "processing" (mine included), best of luck for today...

Let's hope we see as much progress with orders today as we have seen the last couple of days and also see some orders for Asia Pacific get going.

As much as I'd rather have a specific anticipated date for dispatch, as we now know without any doubt that there is no logic whatsoever to the order in which Apple is dealing with our orders and that it's purely down to luck, it's going to make the moment of getting that update to "preparing for shipment/dispatch", knowing that we've successfully navigated Apple's random ordering system, even more sweet.

PS In case anyone isn't aware, orders show as either "preparing for shipment" or "preparing for dispatch" depending on the Apple site you're logging into (US for the former, UK for the latter etc), which explains the interchangeable use of terms on here.

That is really interesting, because producing them in China would make much more sense business-wise.

My money is on Apple "producing" nMP in USA being a marketing stunt and real bulk for worldwide distribution being manufactured in China.

No worries. :D I'm just posting my updates more as a "play-by-play" for an order that was just recently (1/12/14) placed through B&H.;)

I have no issues with B&H. They handled their part very professionally.

I ordered the 6-core and it's only been a few days, so feel no pity for me.

I called Apple this morning to see if any update was available in regards to my order (still processing, ships in January) and was told they are working hard to get them shipped before the end of January. When I asked if I could change the shipping speed she said there is no expedited shipping available; it will be standard ground, 4-6 days to my location in Pittsburgh. If it ships before week's end, it would be 5-7 days because of the federal holiday on Monday. Bummer.

I don't get why anyone would think that Apple must have become so evil that they now even lie about where their gear is built. I happen to know the person in charge at Apple of the US manufacturing project and the Mac Pro is definitely part of it. That said, we're talking about assembly of components that are sourced from everywhere and from a wide range of external vendors.

But remember, there are still 2 more weeks for all you eager "January" guys and 6 more weeks for you "February" guys.

Because this is what megacorps do?

"Evil" and "not evil", as well as "lie" and "euphemism" and "creative description" have nothing to do with profit margins and shareholders' happiness.

P.S. Apple was happily employing suicidal overworked underpaid Chinese for a long, long time - and started to "care" about them only after PR stink it made. You surely don't think they did not know about China working conditions?

Looks like someone messed up the google sheet.

Added my record back in.

Looks like quite a few cells have been deleted. I should be able to copy most of them from a backup later today (unfortunately I can't access the spreadsheet at all from work other than on my phone). If anyone else has a back-up and can do this in the meantime (which needs a bit of care to get right), please do!

Wait, so, I ordered my BTO from Apple on the day of release and it's not shipping until February, yet you ordered yours from a reseller and it shipped yesterday? Thursday morning when? The 19th of December?

Pity - *deleted*

Stored for later use, likely on self, reserves running low...

I've been thinking...

For individuals like you and myself...will we get any sort of update on shipping? This is the first time I've ordered through B&H along with D/S. Do they update their order with a tracking number Apple provides, or should we expect something (email) direct from Apple?

If this is the case, then your reseller already had it on order from the 19th. Unless, you can show us that the order went to apple on Thursday and it is now shipping.

No idea. Pretty much every time I've gotten anything from B&H over the last 10 or so years it was always something that they had in stock on site, even BTO apple stuff, they always had the parts before, assembled the sucker right in front of me, not so much this time.

They never gave me a proper apple tracking ID/order#, so all I got is "drop ship submitted..." And I know they have some stock models there, so I'm just kinda confused. I assume that once it ships B&H will give the proper UPS tracking ID so the actual shipment can be monitored, that'll be less stressful. But as for now I think we're up ****'s creek.

I saw a 12-core on the spreadsheet yesterday, but I'm starting to think that was a review unit...:(
