Just got mine

I've used Windows all my life. Never again. Mac is the best I've ever used. Coming from an enormous 17" Dell Inspiron weighing 8 pounds, my little 13-incher is quite a change. Having a smaller screen is a small price to pay for portability IMO. This thing is pretty dang quick and all my friends always want to use it. I love it and will never go back.

I ordered my 17" Macbook Pro (mid 09) yesterday, after also waiting some weeks for the hardware update... Anyway, I need to have one by next month and to be honest, the hardware in the MBP isn't bad at all.
If Steve decides to bring the update during the next 14 days, I will return my MBP and buy the newer version, otherwise I will live happily with it...

This coming from a longtime windows user...

Now, I just hope they deliver it fast enough... can't wait anymore :)

Twase the night before the MBP update, wifey and kids all sleeping, all that stirred was trjwv. As he opened the brown box which was delivered to him today, a grin appeared on his face. What to his surprise was a 2010 week 12 MBP 15” 3.06 Ghz 4Gb Glossy 500 Gb 7200 RPM, his first MBP. As he took the sleek aluminum thing out of the box, he sat and admired what a wonderful sight. He fired it up, set everything up and logged onto mac rumors, only to say to himself “no more misery waiting every Tuesday for an update to occur”. lol

for 1649.99 CND i had to buy it I can't wait anymore.

I believe it has the express card slot too... as it doesn't have the 7 hour battery... right?

I bet i can use this up until the NEXT NEXT update, sell it and lose 200 dollars maybe.

I just ordered a 13" Macbook Pro on apple.com. I had read that new models were coming out, and waited a bit, but I need to replace my current laptop prior to a business trip and this seemed to be the last possible day I could order, based on the "arrival date" that the check-out page listed.

I highly doubt the the newer versions would be necessary for my use (internet, light photo editing, word processing, etc.). I picked the lowest processor and upgraded the ram, and did a slight boost to the hard drive to make it match the regular Macbook, it was a pretty cheap upgrade.

It was confusing, they listed the arrival date the same whether I clicked standard free shipping or paid $15 for 2-3 day shipping. I chose 2-3 since I'm under a time crunch and hope that helps me to get it sooner in the window.

My husband works for a university so I used that discount.

Ships: 1 - 3 business days
Delivers: Mar 29 - Apr 2 by 2-3 day shipping
Part number: Z0GK
Configuration
2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Backlit Keyboard (English) / User's Guide
Microsoft Office Mac 2008 - Home and Student Edition
Accessory Kit

Congrats!

Congratulations to all the new macbook pro purchases. Been using macs for mmm about 6 years now, and love them more and more every time I get a new one. My first mac was a 15 Powerbook with motorola processor.

It got stolen sadly and I got a 13 inch Macbook, loved it for what it is but sadly missed the bigger screen.

I tried to go back to an HP mostly for the 17 inch display but after 9 months I could not take it anymore. The loudest fan in the universe and hardware in need of a lot of firmware updates to work correctly. No longer my problem.

I can happily report I got a new 15" macbook pro, and wow...just wow. Was so thin and well designed it was like falling in love with apple all over again. Love the unibody design, and crazy awesome display. Granted it will be updated soon I am sure but well just something to look forward to in several years when I get my next Macintosh.

P.S. Got a great deal off mac mall. Had a $60 instant online rebate came out to $1566 with free shipping, beat amazon and was barely more then a refurb model. Trick is to add the item to your shopping cart and see if the instant rebate comes off..they do not advertise this and you may need to check back periodically.

My Macbook Pro 17" (Mid 09) arrived 2 days ago and I really really love it... Even knowing that the hardware update will come in the next weeks/months it's still very fast combined with the beautiful screen, fantastic unibody design, silent fans and great battery...

Now I'm getting used to my first Apple computer (since owning some ipods and a iphone). Already thinking of selling my 1 year old desktop PC since I don't see any use for it anymore :p

Also thinking of upgrading the HDD with a 7200 model to make the system a bit faster, what do you guys think, is it worth it?

Only criticism i got, is the Magic Mouse I also bought. The touch surface is great, but the mouse isn't very comfortable and the glide strips underneath the mouse are very bad and make the mouse loud when using it on a table... I would advice to buy a top-of-the-line logitech mouse for that money!

Anyway I don't regret buying the Macbook Pro and I think I will be happy for quite some time with it...

I just ordered my 15 MBP 2.53ghz refurbed laptop from the Apple store. This is our families first mac product and we are looking forward to the switch. We also bought AppleCare.

With our education discount it came out to $1806. The laptop was the same price, but AppleCare was about $100 cheaper with ed discount. Good times!

Just got my MBP yesterday.

Traded my Dell XPS 16 for a 1 Month old 2.8Ghz MBP w/Anti Glare Screen

My XPS had a bit better specs, but was a lot bigger and heavier than the macbook pro. Also needed OSX to mod my iPhone a bit more!

Right now, I'm running Windows 7 via Bootcamp

I made the switch to a Macbook Pro after using PC's for all of my computing life. I received my 15" Macbook Pro w/ anti-glare screen about a month ago. So far I love it. It's super fast. I made the switch primarily because I had to use a program called ZoomText with PC's due to a vision problem. The program slowed the computer tremendously. The Mac has a great accessibility option for zooming text. Plus, the backlit keyboard is a godsend.

you talking to me or the other guy?

That was for zyk, but I found the link a few pages back. Congrats on your MBP, we have the last 15" models with the express card. I hope the refresh will go back to them vs. the SD card slot, which is so consumer level.

My 15.4" MBP 2.66 arrived today! Can't wait to get out of work! It's a refurb, so I have a question. I know I shoudl use the search feature but I'm useless with it for some reason. Sincwe this is a refurb. what should I do immediately out of the box to make sure everything is working the way it should? If someone can find a link that addresses this I sure would appreciate it.. in the meantime I'll try to find it myself.

WooHooo!!:) I'm like a kid on Christmas morning!!!
