Just ordered the:

15" i7, 4GB RAM, hi-res glossy

Can't wait for it to arrive - though will have to wait until 22nd to 23rd April according to Apple Website..

:D

Just ordered MBP 15-inch, i5 2.53GHz, 4gb, 7200rpm, hi-res glossy... will also upgrade to 8gb immediately.
Estimated delivery date 28-29th April... will be a tough wait..

just initiated a return for my MBP 15" 3.06 received 3 weeks ago. they ok'd return with no restock fee...lol. I can buy the i7 for $370.00 cheaper than I paid for the 3.06 same specs, just have to wait for the refund to hit my card, they said 3-5 days after receipt of MBP. I just printed return label, which they even paid for.....

I ordered the vanilla 17" model. My wife wants a laptop to sneak off to the bedroom with for Movie editing - apparently I won't get off the 27" iMac long enough! I was just waiting for the quad cores to hit, now I've pulled the trigger.

You're gonna be let down when you find out that 17" isn't quad core.

Just ordered 2.66 ghz core i7 15 inch MBP with hi res screen - 4 GB (I can always buy online and add bigger memory myself). I really hope it comes the 16th as it says will be here by 16th-22nd.

2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
SuperDrive 8X DL
MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display

Delivers: Apr 16 - Apr 22

Alright, I just ordered the base 15" 2.4Ghz Core i5 with the regular glossy screen -with student discount!

Hope I don't regret not going with the higher res screen - it just seemed a bit too high for a 15" screen.

Standard, low end 15" version here. I was going to get the 320GB 7200RPM drive when the offered it as an upgrade of the last version but now that's a £120 price bump. No thanks. But the student discount and cheap applecare - love it.

Should be here by Friday - hopefully earlier?

BTW, is anyone having trouble getting their Apple account/order status? I keep getting "An Internal Server Error Has Occurred."

My first Mac!!

Happy Ending

Well it was worth the wait in my case. I've been sitting on a crippled 2008 MBP for two months now. I was authorized a replacement but since my computer still technically works, I decided I might as well maximize my free upgrade.

Long story short I've gone from the first gen 2008 unibody 2.53GHZ 15", to the top end 2.66GHZ i7 15", paying only the $100 difference for the high res monitor.

Like everyone else I'm disappointed in the GPU but considering it's a free upgrade from my 2008, I am MORE than happy. Also, it's a new unit so they prorated my Applecare and I'll get a new one so I'll start with 3 years of new protection :)

Just ordered a 13" MBP. Just the base one, it was tough giving the package right back to the ups guy today. (Bought the 2.53 mbp 13" from the refurb store. With the education discount I ended up saving 200 on the new one). Now I have to wait another week!

just a touch more expensive in Sweden

the new base level 15" 2.53 is US$700 more expensive from the Apple online store in Sweden, compared to the US. www.apple.se
What a joke!!

sold my 17inch a month ago and just ordered:

15inch mbp
2.66 i7
4gb ram
500gb 7200rpm ( went back and forth so many times about ssd but ill add my own)
high res antiglare

Finally ordered a 13" 2.66GHz! Only upgrade I bothered with was the $90 for 500MB hdd.

Been waiting way too long to care if this update was anything special, and after last week's rumors about the 13" not getting ANY update, I was pretty happy with the spec bump and battery life extension.

Woo! Now just have to wait a week :(

im really dissapointed with apple... and look that most of people are happy because they added i5 / i7 processors.. cmon !

where is a real graphics card ? GT330M 512MB is a piece of ****...
whats the problem with steve to release a REAL graphic card with an apple notebook ? where is the 1gb GPU cards ? Blizzard is realeasing starcraft 2 and diablo 3 for MACs, and still crap cards with 256mb of video ! this is terrbible..

WHERE IS HDMI ???? I ****ing need it , every notebook on earth have one HDMI , that you dont need adaptors to conect to a tv and watch !

FULL HD display , cmon steve most of HPs , SONYs notebooks use 15.6" FULL HD 1920x1080 ! u keep 1440x900 or 1680x1050 , cmon...

so basically you added a new chip and people are OMG !! i need one !!

ive been using apple since 2000 ! and never had a PC during this time..
but my next laptop gonna be a PC , because i want to pay no more than 1500U$ on a notebook and im getting HDMI, FULL HD display , i7processor ,
RADEON HD 5830 1GB of video , 8gb of ram all for 1500 U$ , with that money i cant even buy the worst 15" , with a stupid card , no hdmi , i5 and crap display..

For the first time apple dissapointed me , expensive notebooks as always but this time im not buying a notebook that is already old. with no HDMI and a descent graphic card , FULL HD display , apple dont even give the chance to change the crap card to a powerfull one.. crap.. you know why they dont add a nice graphic card ?? because the notebook would cost 4000U$ with HDMI, 1gb card and full hd display..

apple you dissapoint me with notebooks ! ( iphone , ipod and ipad save u guys )

i really should have gotten an ssd .. :(

If it makes you feel any better, the way I see it, those things (and RAM) are going to drop a ton in price over the next couple years. Since the shiny new computer will be plenty fast for now, I can just wait until the prices drop and the computer starts to feel a little sluggish, then upgrade all of that and BAM!... instant new computer feel for very little $$. :D

I basically did that for my current 5 year old Dell when it was about 3 years old. massive ram/hdd upgrade made me very happy.

And you are posting in the "I just ordered / bought / got my new MBP" thread why?

because i want to undestand why people need to like everything apple launches.. even when its crap !

paying 2000 U$ for a laptop that dont have HDMI , full hd display and a descent graphics card.. the only new thing here is the processors that been on other laptops for months !!! then apple comes launch a "new" laptop with i5/i7 and add a stupid GPU and call it new ! more powerfull ! with a 256mb card, is a joke for 1799U$ really.. its a ****ing joke ! 256mb of video i have on my macbook pro from 2008 !!! HDMI and FULL HD display where is ?? any crap laptop from HP costs 1500u$ delivery 1gb GPU card , FULL HD display and HDMI , apple have a 100000x better case ? for sure , the design kills anyone ,the batterie life is amazing ( maybe thats why he uses crap GPU cards ? to save batterie life ? ) but the most important the hardware , they lose hard ! for the price they are asking you can get a muuuuch better laptop that dont have an apple ( and im a big apple fan , believe me )

here is the config of a laptop im looking for after todays apple launch.

i7 1.76ghz QUAD CORE (3.06ghz) the top of the line
8gb of ram DDR3 1066mhz
RADEON 5830 HD 1GB dedicated video
640gb HD
HDMI
FULL HD Display 1920x1080 anti-glare 15,6" ( apple talks about a 1680x1050 diplays like a FULL HD display... wake up apple !!!! )

ALL OF THAT FOR LESS THAN 1800U$.

just would like to hear what you guys think.. beside im buying anything apple launches please.

Gotta agree with the fact that this belongs in another thread!

First of all!

Video memory has very little to do with overall performance of a GFX - The only place you are gonna feel the difference is at higher resolution, and the resolution shipped on the MBP's are easily runned by a 256 and 512 Mb GFX

Full HD on a laptop? Yeah i guess the extra desktop workspace is nice, but i personally think that a 15" is too small for a resolution like that. "But i can see Full HD content on my laptop" - Yes, you can - But you simply can't the extra amount of detail, for that you need to a 50"+ display.

HDMI on a laptop - I both agree and disagree with you here. Sure HDMI is nice, but i like the idea that you can connect different external devices with Apple's adapters, no matter if they use VGA, DVI or HDMI.

Of course have also made the adapters to make some extra money, and for that i don't like them - Don't get me wrong, Apple should make money, but not by removing something just make it an buy-seperately option.

And last - Apple's notebooks are mainly portable products, and are not made to be desktop replacements, therefore batterylife is very important to them - I'd reckon you will be able to pull around 2 hours on the machine you posted.

And the 5830 is like the slowest card in the 58XX family, so i doubt that Starcraft 2 will run smoothly at max resolution with all eyecandy turned on.
