Since I survived the "I'm waiting for Arrandale" thread, I'm happy to come here and announce I ordered the 15" i7 with 500 GB 7200 RPM HD and standard screen (no need for me for a higher resolution, I'll be able to play games in native resolution with the 1440x900 screen).
This update is exactly what I suspected and it's enough for me to update my early 2008 MBP.
I always wanted to get an unibody, and now I feel the performance gap is big enough to justify myself an update :)
Expected delivery : 22-23 april...

Order Cancelled

I had ordered the MBP from the Apple store UK on Thursday. I was waiting for the update but my Toshiba is on it's last legs and I couldn't wait Tuesday after Tuesday for the update. So I wasn't happy that the update came out today, but when I went online at the Apple Store it said that the order had been cancelled and replaced with a new product. I phoned up Apple and they had indeed replaced my old order with the new model. The only complaint I have is that I have to wait another week for my new Apple computer, it's gonna be a long, long, long wait. :D

WOOHOO!

I've been waiting for a few months to upgrade my early 2006 Macbook (not even a macbook pro). I have .5GB of ram, core duo (not even the C2D), basically the base macbook in may of 2006. Doesn't have snow leopard.

Went with the base 15 inch with the upgraded resolution. SO STOKED. This is going to a huge upgrade.

This was my reward to myself since I just found out I have been hired at a big 4 accounting firm.

Bought a 15" base i5 with high res. glossy screen, but Jesus… I am getting second thoughts now. :( Perhaps I was a bit too easy on the trigger. $2492 with students discount… a base 13” is $1544 (Denmark)

A base 13” does actually match my demands.. Really don’t know what to do. A 13” is way cheaper but I would probably feel screwed over if I bought a C2D – I mean, that’s 4 years old technology?? What to do?

Anyhow, anybody does one cancel an order? Can I do it by email?

Piece of advise? Don't cancell the order. I ordered the Base 13" 2 years ago as my first mac and regretted the day I got it. 15" is way more comfortable when you work on your laptop every day. If you decide to go with the 13" now I'm sure you'll regret it too... Just pay the premium, at least you don't have to buy a new one next year because of the screensize. (Like me:p)

What he said!

Used to work with a 13" Macbook Black, and it is too small to work with every day imo.

Ordered the base 15" as well, but with the standard screen, and i'm from Denmark as well.

And it's actually 200 kr. cheaper than the old 2.66 Ghz model, and alot faster, so i'd say keep the order and find something to do while waiting for it to arrive :)

Just picked up the 15" i7 stock model (500gb/5400, 4G RAM, 2.66 i7, stock glossy screen) - ready to crack it open and migrate my stuff and get moving again!

I finally made the plunge

I've been reading these forums for months and finally bought a new MacBook pro. It's 17" with the 7200rpm hdd, anti-glare screen and core i7 processor.

I almost forgot to mention. This is my first mac ever!

hmmm I see a lot of people getting the 7200 RPM HDD, is the difference that substantial? I just got the base HDD, I play a few games, not many but mainly just use my computer for work and such. 350gb is more than I will ever need, but is the RPM critical?

Let us know if the i7 runs hot and kicks in the fans or if it stays quiet.

Picked mine up from Best Buy 5 mins ago, picture

Hello,

My local best buy JUST (25 mins ago) got the shipment. I now have a 3771 in my hand booting up. The picture is of the outside of the box. I can also take a picture of my receipt, but honestly, I really don't care.

: ) it's awesomely fast and sexy

I GOT MINE! & Apple customer service people LIE!

Wellp, I went to the apple store today and picked up my brand new i7 17" MBP ^___^ it's been too long overdue.

Further more, Apple customer service lied to me. I used the web chat thing on Apple's website, and asked whether I would be able to pick up a 17" with custom options (i.e. screen, i7 as opposed to i5, hard drive upgrade) at the retail store. In fact I asked two CS representatives, and they both told me a resounding "NO" I'd have to order it online or by phone, they said. Well, I called the apple store and lo and behold they had just the spec I wanted in stock. (Although I don't know about hard drives, I only wanted the base version since I'm going to upgrade on my own)
