500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive

Should be here next week. Very excited!

Has anyone been given tracking info for a BTO yet?

I ordered mine around 8 am PST and it still hasn't shipped yet... Says it will within 1-3 biz days....

Please come home to me :apple:

Ordered a CTO 17" yesterday as soon as the store was back online, hasn't shipped yet.

Just got the upgraded CPU, ordered 8GB of RAM and a 7200rpm 750GB HDD from the Egg to be installed immediately upon arrival.

Coming from a 15" 2007 MBP.

I have a similar scenario to Subbieman and would like to know what is the most ideal course of action. The only difference is that rather than waiting for a 2011 refurb I'm considering getting the new base 13" ($1,199). I usually do some graphic design with PS, Illustrator, etc. I'm not a hardcore gamer but would like to be able to run something like Civ 5 (or a game along those lines). With that in mind, what would work best for me?

Interesting hangs...

I'm seeing some interesting hangs with my new 17" 2011 MBP. I think I've got it pretty narrowed down but I want to see if anyone else is seeing it.

Symptom: Machine Hangs with SPOD. All apps lock up with the SPOD on any IO and new apps or ttys can't be opened

Hypothetical Cause: My home folder is synced from a Windows (SMB) share and when syncing with the built in Filesync engine I noticed these lockups. My mac pro and old 13" MBP syncing from the same home directory have no such issue. The issue occurs if I just copy a large number of files over SMB as well. Rebooting the laptop into Win 7 I see no such issues. Everything syncs just fine.

My question is whether anyone else has tried copying a lot of files or listing large directory over SMB and seen a similar issue? SMB is a very chatty protocol and it's possible that it's a rapid stream of packets that's causing the issue. That's theory though.

Just Bought High-end 15' MBP Hi-Res Antiglare

Stopped by the Apple Store today and picked-up the new High-end I7 15' MBP. Got the high-res anti-glare screen. WOW. What a huge difference. I upgraded from a 2008 2.53 MBP dual core glossy screen. Love the antiglare screen. So much better than the glossy. The speed is fantastic. Looking forward to playing around with it tonight. Curious to see how quick I can rip some DVD's (Handbrake). I am going to drop a OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB SSD in it when they are out. After that, should be blazing fast. Good stuff Apple.

Oh them "Not Yet Shipped Blues"

I'm talkin bout them low, low down "Ships: 1 - 3 business days" blues.

15" 2.2, 500GB@7200, Hi Res Antiglare, no extra software.

Order Date: Feb 24, 2011 at 07:41 AM PST

And a few thousand refreshes from now, I'll finally see "Ready to Ship" and can then track my l'il moneymaker on it's long journey home. :D
