Ordered an 13" MBPr in "black-friday" (256GB / 8GB / us keyboard).

Seems it is still stuck in Shanghai, only got an arrival scan, no export or departure, last update 2nd of december.

UPS status says "on schedule" for friday....but i don't really trust it.
Could i recieve it at time?

I had been wanting to upgrade from my 2011 MacBook Air 13" to one of the retina models, but wasn't in any particular hurry. Then, my wife told me yesterday that she thought we should get our daughter a MacBook for Xmas. I had been planning on giving her my Air when I upgraded mine, so now it became a mad rush for me to decide what to do. My wife was initially not too keen on me giving my daughter my "hand me down" as an Xmas gift, but our daughter had expressed excitement a while back when I told her I might give it to her when I upgraded, so I think she'll be happy. I'll clean it up nice and put it back in the original box and wrap it up under the tree. :)

As for me, I was debating between the 13" and 15" rMBP (and even found myself investigating some Windows alternatives, like the Lenovo Thinkpad Helix). Having missed the Black Friday deals, and seeing a lot of configs out of stock, and no signs of any great new deals, I figured I probably needed to hurry up and make a decision. I really love how small and light my Air is, so the added weight of the 15" (not to mention the added cost), pushed me slightly towards the 13". Plus, one of the few discounts still floating around was a 13" rMBP (8GB/256GB) for $100 off from Best Buy (so, $1399). I also happened to have a big chunk of Amex points from a card I used to use a lot but no longer use at all, and their ShopAmex site partners with Best Buy and they were giving an added discount (essentially making the points worth more than usual).

All told, my points saved me around $500, so I have to pay out $950 on my Amex. It stated that it should ship out in approx 4-6 business days.

Last week, at Black Friday, I ordered a 13 inch MacBook Pro Retina. (8gb ram - 256 gb) Estimate shipping time 3 - 5 business days.

At this time it's still not in the status of prepared for shipment :(

To make it more difficult, I'm now hesitating to cancel the order and go for a 15" base model...

Just canceled my 13" and went for a 15 inch MBPr.

Hi everyone,

I got my Macbook Pro 15" Retina (Base model) online on black friday. It took just 1 business day for delivery to my home. I live in Toronto, Canada.

It's my first time using a Mac...it's very exciting so far.

Newbie

Just bought my first Mac. A Macbook Pro 13" Retina with 8GB RAM and a 512 SSD. Have been using Windows since it was born, very happy so far - learning all time.

Just placed an order for a rMBP 15"/2.3GHz/16GB/512GB ssd. It's more than I had planned / need, but I couldn't resist when getting a 15% discount, free shipping and 30 day return / exchange.

I received my rMBP today, opened it, turned it on expecting some degree of yellow tint and I was surprised to find that the display is flawless, white is actually white.

No, you have yellow tint, I can see it from your post. :D ...JK... show people here, they will found not only yellow tint but also other defects...

I also ordered 2.3ghz/16gb/256gbSSD model, and it was shipped from OH? I was thinking all BTOs are coming from China, not anymore I guess.

My refund finally came through for my 2nd 15" return. Just ordered the stock mid-level 13" and hoping to get it sometime next week!

I ordered the 13" 2.8 i7/16GB RAM/512GB SSD a week ago. The wait for it to ship is excruciatingly painful....:(:(

I really hope it gets delivered on the 13th-20th as promised.....I paid for expedited processing or shipping or whatever it is too.

Finnish retailer Gigantti had their own version of Black Friday a week later. Never seen such a good discount on new Mac products before. I've been thinking about a 13 inch, but I couldn't decide to go for one on such short notice because of potential lag on scaled resolutions, so just to be safe I took the plunge on the 15 inch with dGPU instead. :D

I just ordered a 15" rMBP with discrete graphics card :D
This is my first time owning a macbook
What should I check once I receive my macbook to know its alright? I hear a lot people talking about yellow tint, whats that?

Eagerly awaiting delivery of my rMBP
Got a 2008 unibody MBP 15" that feels like it's on its last legs, particularly when running VM (and is coming unglued in the back...gotta fix that!)
Getting through work a 13" rMBP 2.6, 1TB, 16gb -- ordered mid-Nov, theoretically arrives tomorrow!

hi Everybody!
Today a premium reseller of Apple (I-Connect) had grand opening here. they were offering 10% off all mac including macbook pro in store.
I wanted the MBP with retina display 13" i5, 16GB ram & 512GB flash drive, but they don't have it as it was a BTO unit.
They suggested that I buy MBP with retina display 13" i5,8GB Ram & 512GB flash drive and they will upgrade it to 16Gb RAM for me in a few days time, by adding the RAM into it?? so I took the plunge and pay for it.
Now I am worried, does that mean it will affect my warranty cover or apple cover when they add the RAM for me?? is there a difference with RAM from BTO and premium reseller ( i know this could possibly be a stupid question, please bear with me)?
Have anyone heard or have done this before? Should I have just forget about the discount and order from the Apple website?
Thank you guys

I think the Ram in the rMBP is soldered to the board. Didn't think they were upgradeable.

Victor

On Tuesday I ordered a new Haswell 15" 2.6/16/1 TB/dGPU. It will hopefully arrive sometime tomorrow. This is my first Mac since a PowerPC iMac from 2001/2. I'm so anxious to try it out!

Has it shipped? Waiting for mine feels like an eternity...

How accurate have Apple's shipping estimates been historically?

Bah, humbug! Delivery pushed back to 12/16.
Was really looking forward to playing w/it this week. Sigh...

I just checked my credit card and I was absolutely baffled to see that the ~$16 hold that was placed on my Amex is now gone....since it's been a long time since I charged anything to this credit card, I'm hoping it's a positive sign for my MBPr....:D:D

Hopefully.
