Just got the base model 13" rMBP from Apple yesterday and it's been AMAZING! I was used to getting 1-1.5MBps with my FiOS at home and now I'm seeing 6-8MB/sec just with better hardware from my PC laptop! The screen's great to look at and it's SO fast! It's my first Mac since the original iMac (I miss that little guy). Who knew PCIe flash storage would make so much of a difference?

Also got the college discount. I just showed the Genius a pic of a friend's student ID and I got the discount+gift card :)

Just ordered a new battery, 8GB of RAM (upgrading from 4) and a 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD! For my mid 2010 MBP

I gifted my 2011 MBP to an immediate family member with a crucial M500 512Gb SSD and 8Gb of RAM when I got a new 2013 11.6" base MBA brand NIB last christmas on sale at the local PX for $806.10 (that was a great price then with a sale and couple coupon codes that were allowed to be combined)!

I wanted the USB3 and low weight of the MBA and the battery life finally got to where I needed it on the 11.6" machines with the 2013 models:D

Very happy with it as my portable take everywhere, with my iPad machine!

You'll love what the added RAM and SSD does for your 2010 machine!

Just received my new rMBP 15" mid 2014 version, and again the bottom thing is flexible and makes noise when pressing. They have now sent med a replacement, hope it's alright. Please DO check yours out, I am surer the bottom is flexible.

Just received my base 15" late 2013 and it's amazing, except for one thing: when I put any pressure underneath the right side of the laptop you can hear the fan rubbing against the case. Can't use it on my lap until that gets fixed, which is pretty annoying. :(

Going to the apple store tomorrow, hopefully they have a quick turn around.

Real nice upgrade from my late 2008 15" other than that though.

What did you find out?

I just placed an order for a fully loaded RMBP
3.0GHZ i7/16GB RAM/1TB SSD

It's going to be run through 2 x Thunderbolt Displays

Can't wait

What did you find out?

Absolutely nothing. They didn't know what the issue is and decided that due to the amount of repairs they have backed up in store and the fact that it could be any number of things (fan, bottom case, top case...) they're going to ship it out to a repair depot.

Unfortunately it looked like they didn't actually do anything with it until last night, which is when the repair status page updated to say shipment to the repair depot is pending.

Might call them up to whine and complain and find out what's happening, school started and it's a real pain not having enough battery life to make it through the day on my old MBP.

Hopefully I can get an extension on that 14 day return period to account for the week+ that it'll be out of my hands. :( If there's any other issue at all I'm gonna send it back, don't want to deal with a potential lemon.

edit: I will say that it seems like it's a very uncommon issue, I can't find anything on the internet about people with similar issues. Hopefully it's just that somebody forgot a screw or something while refurbishing it.

Just got my 2014 rmbp with 16gb and nvidia from bestbuy after their discount of $125, $100 student, and 10% movers got it to $2042 and tax exempt :) Liking it quite a bit as it just replaced my gaming desktop since I have a baby coming very soon.

Just ordered the Mid-2014 15" base model from BestBuy. Got it for $1799 (it's $1899 currently and I used the Education coupon which is $100 off) no tax because shipped to oregon. Caint wait

Picked up a 2012 15" rMBP off from a local forum user more than a week ago. Condition was flawless with zero scratches and came along with 1 more year on Apple Care and Wireless Keyboard.

White carbon fibre sticker just came in today from slickwraps.com . Cant wait to apply on the rMBP

I ordered a late 2013 13" 2.4/8/256 rMBP from B&H that's due to arrive tomorrow. It's replacing a mid 2010 MBP.

Just ordered the 15" 2.5GHz rMBP 2014 off the Apple Store, arriving Friday with Pre-Noon delivery.

My first real Mac computer, this slow ass Mac Mini doesn't count :p

I'm pretty excited :D

Ordered a 2.6 i5 rMBP 13" with 16GB and 256GB SSD from Apple.ca on Saturday. Estimated delivery date is the 3rd of Sept which I guess makes sense, though I was really hoping it would be here by Friday so I Could use it for a trip on the weekend. C'est la vie, I guess I have to put up with my Lenovo T440s for another few days ;)

Seems like it's been hanging out in Shanghai forever though. Hopefully it's on the move behind the scenes.

One thing I was kind of annoyed at was that I wasn't able to order expedited delivery from Apple. I'd have gladly paid extra to have it here by the weekend. I've had camera equipment overnighted from Hong Kong before so I know it's possible to not get stuck in the delivery cycle for a week ;)

Ordered the 15inch base model for 1740€ using Apple on Campus along with some accessories like a Brenthaven Bag.

Very excited as I haven't seen one in action, yet. Should even be arriving tomorrow, which would be awesome.

Just got a 2011 Macbook Pro 15-inch with the i7 2.2, 750gb HDD. Not a new shiny one but needed something portable that I won't be crying the blues when it gets beat up. Paid $500 for it, added a Samsung 840 Evo 250gb SSD, and 16gb of ram she is flying now more than capable machine. Going to put the 750gb HDD in optical bay and make a DIY Fusion drive, giving me 1TB of fusion drive. I have a fully upgraded BTO 27-inch iMac for home with the PCIE Fusion drive and 4gb video it is a beast, so this will be my little road warrior machine!

Watch out for the GPU dying. The 2011 15" and 17" are getting notorious for that.

Don't beleave everything you read. Yes I'm sure several have failed its electronics. 10,000 signatures yet millions and millions sold. A thread with million view haha scary. People with problems like to vent and make a scene I know I did with my 2011 iMac had issues. Yet people claim 2011 iMac is great. You must remember only people with issues speak up the others are out enjoing their product. So even if 1 million failed I wouldn't be worried. Iam sure many of you had yours fail, but welcome to life. It is a laptop if your silly enough to use it like a desktop and push it hard day in and out your begging for trouble. I would bet 90% of people who burned theirs up pushed their macbook to hard. Heat+laptop ventilation=problems. I'm sorry if you beleaved the Apple ads and thought a MacBook Pro could handle hard hd editing etc. I have a 4gb video card for that. People need to use their brain not what their told and use these machines how they can really work.

I figured someone would chirp bout that. Btw this is being wrote on a 27-inch iMac that everyone said not to buy they have yellow screen issue, guess what I ignored them to and it's flawless.

Update to my situation:

Picked up my rMBP from the apple store today (even though I asked them to ship it to my house...) and it's been fixed. They replaced both fans to stop the rubbing.

Finally I can enjoy the machine I ordered nearly two weeks ago :D

I thought I saw somewhere a post of proper display settings for the rMBP...can someone point me in the right direction?

After returning my base model 15 inch retina, I finally received my higher spec'd 2014 model with the 750m discrete graphics card. Currently typing on it right now and am extremely happy!
