I called but they said nothing wrong with the order, I'll keep the thread posted just incase any updates.

Here's an update. I payed for 2-3 day shipping and this order will now take 2+ weeks to get here. Do you think they'll refund the expedited shipping cost?

I honestly don't know, don't have a lot of experience buying from apple online but if you have the time you can always give them a call (last time i was on hold for 35-45 minutes  )

My early 2011 MBP decided to stop working yesterday. I decided this was a good excuse to get the top spec 15" rMBP! I am impatiently waiting for it arrive!

Ordered my refurb October 2013 rMBP. Considering the updates have been nothing but small spec bumps, I feel the discount was good!

My early 2011 i7 15" MacBook Pro finally ate the dust (black screen and random shutdowns) so I ended up running to the Apple store close by to make a purchase. Came out with a brand new 13" MacBook Pro i5 entry level. Shall see how the downgrade goes (screen wise and spec wise) but already I am seeing a lot of improvement from my 2011 mbp. Now just waiting for my ip6+ to arrive tomorrow ;) good end to the week!
My 2011 i7 15" MBP bit the dust also! Lots of this happening lately! :(

I needed a computer right away for a project so I ran to the Apple store and bought the high end 15". It was almost $3000 with tax! Ouch! I returned that because I found a 2012 (15" 2.7GHz, 16GB 768) on CL for waaay under $2000. It still has a year of Applecare so I was stoked. A week in, I realized it had the IR problem, but got the screen replaced and the new screen is awesome!

I've been a mac user since the mid 80s and this is my first glossy screen Mac. However, I'm not a fan of the glossy so put on an anti-glare film. It doesn't degrade the image or colour at all. Happy once again!

From the archives, the Apple family (can you guess the contents?)...

Similar thing happened my late 2011 15", gGPU died last week . Didn't have the funds to upgrade to the retina's and the 13" unibodies are just a downgrade. I ended up getting a mid 2012 refurb. I had the 2011 maxed out @ 16GB of Ram and had a SSD so I'll just move those to the new MacBook when I arrives today or tomorrow.

Well at least I'll have usb 3 now. 2011's only had usb2

Just Pulled the Trigger

After weeks of lurking in this forum learning as much as I can, I just pulled the trigger on MBPr 2.5gHz, 16GB Ram, 512GB SSD and bundled with 3yr AppleCare. Got it from Adorama with whom I've always had good luck in the past. I've used nothing but PCs for the past 30 years so this is a totally new experience. Now the waiting...anxiously.

Congrats! I am getting the same one!

I had a late 2008 macbook and that's the extent of my experience with OS X before I sold it shortly after.

Today, UPS says that my Mid-2014 MacBook Pro is out for delivery as of 5 hours ago. Can't wait to get home and hopefully be in time to get it!

Well I have it as of an hour ago. This thing is so slick, so sexy.

Looks so nimble but packs more power than my huge ASUS G55VW.

Now I just need a HDD for backup and other stuff and a nice new backpack.

I am so pleased with this thing so far.

Nice! Congrats!

There aren't many reasonably priced thunderbolt drives/enclosures yet, but lots of USB3 drives/enclosures. I use bare drives and Macally enclosures.

Have fun with it!

I just picked up a second Western Digital 2TB drive for 100$ so I got a good deal there.

Now just to set up Time Machine in a reasonable way.

I am completely new haha.

My new 15" Retina MacBook Pro 2.5GHz 1TB w/ dGPU arrived on Tuesday (Samsung LCD and Samsung SSD). I just finished setting her up and officially made the switch. I also purchased AppleCare, a Thunderbolt to FW adapter, and Lighting 2 Adapter.

Just about to go pick up my new MBPr13"! So excited! The next post will definitely be from there :)

I thought I would just ask though if you guys have any recommendations for apps/software? I'm switching over from windows and I work as a web developer so if anyone out there has some hidden mac gems they use to make their lives easier or more productive I would very much appreciate the advice.

Nice, I also purchased the same spec, it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

Have a look at Sublime Text, there are many guides out there how to customise it for your particular needs. I use it both at home and in the office - it was well worth the purchase.

I am using Spectacle now for window resizing/snapping like Windows 7 & 8 have.

It's free and easy to use.

Sublime is fantastic but I just got used to Coda 2, have you try it?

I have Coda 2 as well, I mainly use it as a MySQL client! Most of my clients use Windows and as Sublime is available on both platforms I love the fact that I can use the same workflow on both OS's.

Yeah thats mainly why i use Coda because of the DB management.

I can't help but notice this computer makes my hands sweat and it feels hot to the touch. After about a week, my temps idle around 60-70C. Is this normal? My thinkpad never went above 50 idling. It's making my hands sweat all damn day.
