Just got my early 2015 13" rMBP a few weeks ago. Sold my iPad Air and Mac mini to pay for it. Needed something portable and powerful. My iPad Air just wasn't cutting it for me as a laptop replacement, and my Mac mini didn't have the power I needed for audio recording/editing.

I love everything about this laptop, but I'm having some major buyer's remorse right now. I know it's completely illogical. I tried using my iPad Air as a laptop and it was insanely annoying to me, even on an iOS 9 public beta build with all the new features save for Split View (it was a first gen iPad Air.) But I keep thinking I made a huge mistake selling my iPad even though I never used it. I think it's because less than a month after buying this, Apple got on stage and told me that the iPad was the future of personal computing. Kind of made me feel like I made the wrong decision.

I think it's just that I spent a lot of money on my new machine--I always get like this when I get new stuff. Hopefully it passes soon, because it keeps me from enjoying my new gear.

Got tired to wait and hope for skylake or whatever. Ordered a base MBP 15 from this year to replace my air. The wait, that is the worst. In the meanwhile I'm getting ready to be flabbergasted with my first 15, my first retina and my first quadcore.
Happy!

Proudly announcing I just joined the Apple community three days ago. Got my 1st MPB 15 inch with iGPU mid 2014.

What I can say so far exceeded my expectations. Overall experience is great. I already took it everywhere I could - I dont mind 15inch - it is very light and thin anyways. Way lighter than my - but still good - Elitebook 8560w.

Retina display - Whoa! I mean wow, just wow. Details, smoothness of everything in this display is carrying me away. I love it. I am very demanding on displays. This IPS panel is fantastic. I dont know how but I feel this glossy display is still far better than other competitors` glossy displays. I think it still has less reflections in it. Now I can watch fullHD movies without any compromise!

Trackpad. I never felt more confident using the trackpad. My older EliteBook 8560w has a really great touchpad. It is big, buttons are comfortable to press. BUT, when I had a chance to use the trackpad on MBP I found out that I dont need mouse at all. Just my tablet with pen and the trackpad. It analyzes my touch with a very accurate precision so I wont make any misclick, I wont miss anything. And thanks to the OS X system - scrolling is very fluent.

Keyboard. Who types with all ten fingers as I do? Assemble! :D I think this keyboard was developed just for us. It is very quiet and pressing is so comfy and confident. I also do LOVE all the shortcuts above F-keys - Brightness, Sound etc. So handy..

Battery life. Does it have an atomic reactor in? It lasts so long! I can carry it whole day and I still have some juice in it :)

Wifi antenna - I guess it is pretty sensitive and catches a lot of signals. Thumbs up for it.

My purpose to use the MBP - Photoshop, Photography, Graphics. All these things even when traveling and that is what I love my MBP for. I have it all the time along.

I ordered a 13 inch rMBP i5 2.7GHz/8GB/256 a few days ago and received it yesterday. I received a model with the i7 3.1 GHz processor instead so I contacted customer support and was told that it's not an issue. A free processor upgrade though I would have preferred a memory or SSD upgrade. Still, just another perk of buying a refurb. :D

I just ordered my very first MBP 15" - refurbished for $2119.00, saving approx $200, which is going towards my apple care. Now I just wait for it to ship. I have been reading these forums for months (thank you btw for all the information and posts) and finally bit the bullet because I can't wait anymore for the rumored redesign and skylake upgrade. Which, for my purpose (hobby photo and video editing) and portability - replacing a very old 2008 laptop that weights a ton, I consider this investment to last me a long time.

Same here at the same exact price, should get it this Wed. I'm replacing a beat up 2009 13 inch MBP. I was struggling on whether to go cheaper without the AMD Radeon R9 GPU, but I'm spending plenty either way. I'm going to wait to make sure everything is okay and sure that not returning it, before I get Apple Care. Probably wait about a week or two.

I've got a 2013 15" base model and the 2015 15" with AMD card in home trying to make a final decision. It's a tight race and I think I'm going to keep the newer one as its a desktop replacement, but it's over $700 more.

The retina 15 is really a beauty. Received mine today and I'm really happy with it.

I just noticed that I got a free upgrade on the processor. I had ordered a refurb 13/2.7/16 ram/ 256g ended up with a 2.9.

Seems to be a common occurrence. I had order the 13/2.7/8/256 but received the 3.1 GHz i7. I've heard similar things regarding receiver larger configurations of RAM/SSD.

Wished I got the 3.1 with i7. 2.7 to 2.9 not a big difference
Actually, you probably wouldn't notice the difference between your model and the 2.9 either, besides the fan speeding up more quickly that is. I'm actually considering returning this one and getting the one I had intended to get, the i5 2.7 model. I would have preferred a free RAM or SSD upgrade instead.

Why would you not want the upgraded processor for free?
I'm holding out for Skylake rMBP. Reading the other forum gives me (false) hope !

Because I see no benefit to having it. I have a comparable i5 model and when doing certain CPU intensive tasks, the fan does not speed up as quickly or get as loud as that of the i7 model when doing the same tasks. I'd prefer having a quieter laptop than one with a processor that gives little to no improvement for most tasks.

first mac, old machine, but bought it new from Apple mac pro 13.3 non-retina mid 2012. so good so far, my iPhone has turned me into an Apple addicted lol

I too ordered a refurb 13" 8gb / 256 / 2.7 Ghz and it will be here on Thursday, i couldn't hold any longer, I am sure I won't regret it.... now if they could just speed up the delivery ;)

Hi folks,
Just bought a 2015 refurb rMBP 13" to replace my 2012 Macbook Air. I have a shipping date of Oct 8. The rMBP is the 2.9/8/512 version. My Macbook Air was the 1.8/4/128 version.

I really like the MBA but I'm looking forward to the rMBP. I just hope the rMBP has a similar weight and feel compared to the MBA. I really like how the MBA "feels right" to me. I know its subjective, but how the laptop feels in my lap (where I use it often) is important.

I am replacing the MBA simply because I have outgrown it and upgrading it wasn't really worth it to me.

I use the laptop in my music studio attached to a dock w/ external screen/mouse/keyboard on a daily basis. This use case was the reason I went with the rMBP compared to a similar MBA. I use virtual box and Logic X frequently. When not in my studio I am doing typical school work or web browsing and I carry the laptop with me to work every shift.

I have my eye on a 2015 refurb MBA that I will get instead if I end up really not liking the rMBP, but I don't think that will be the case.

I had both (OLD AIR and OLD RMBP), and forget about having the same feeling, the air is on a league with the retina Macbook... the ammount of weight seems small but you'll feel it and the shape of the Air makes it feel even nicer..

All in all as i said earlier in a thread it's a matter of compromise... little more wieght and size but definetly more power..

I am too waiting for a 2015 rMBP should come tomorrow!!!

Hey guys, had a refurb macbook air (that stuffed in in the 14 days timeframe) so i sent it back, and sold my old gmaing pc in the meantime. So i have just ordered a 2015 rMBP with 256SSD

Cant wait! I enjoyed my time with the air and getting use to coming from windows.

ppcybay,
Yeah I really struggled with buying the rMBP vs. the MBA. It took weeks for me to decide. I really like the MBA feel. I hope the rMBP is similar. If not I'll return the rMBP and immediately get the MBA I had my eye on.
