My 2015 8/256 13" rmbp arrived. I bought it used. There are a few minor nicks and scratches.

I made an appt at the local apple store and everything tests out perfectly according to their diagnostics.

I am a bit ambivalent about buying used. On the one hand, I got a stellar deal. $1K for the computer along with 3 years applecare and microsoft office pre-installed.

OTOH, the minor nicks and scratches probably do bother me a little bit.

Also, I'm a little surprised at the difference in screen brightness between the rmbp and the mba. The mba display was extremely bright.

These are not huge issues, but the lack of a "new car smell" leaves me feeling deprived.

Top of the line 15 inch MBP arrived earlier this week. Was an upgrade from a late-2011 15 inch MBP. I know Skylake computers may come any day now, but this upgrade is still amazing for me. Great computer that I look forward to using for a number of years.

Couldn't wait for Skylake so I went ahead and bought a 2015 13" rMBP (2.7/8/256) from eBay.

I'm currently using a Mid-2014 15" rMBP (2.5 i7/16/500) and I've always felt at home with the smaller size. Loved my Air when I had it!

Just received my 13 inch retina pro, base model refurbished from the apple store. 2.7/8/128. Moved down from a 2011 15 inch pro 2.0/8/500, major change in storage but have learned not to keep so much junk on my laptop and rather to have it on an external hard drive. absolutely loving the screen, and the size/weight.

So I am in need of a new laptop (rMBP 2.7/8/256) by the end of March before I have 3 months of straight travel. The only reason that I am holding out right now instead of jumping on one of the deals that are popping up or going the refurbished route is the rumor of a redesign. Thoughts?

Just got a new 13" Retina base model. With the others in here that recently purchased one even in the face of an impending Skylake upgrade. I needed a new personal laptop ASAP, got a significant discount on a brand new one, and figured why not. I could have potentially waited it out another month or so with just my phone, but the price was right and I took the plunge.

I'm sure I'll be super jealous of whatever's to come with the next upgrade, but oh well.

Thinking of MBP 13 Retina - question - does the screen have "ghosting / burn" effect if you leave static background on for too long?

I just finally went ahead and bought a brand new 15" rMBP. Couldn't wait any longer. My used 2014 13" Air was having some issues and I've wanted a 15" rMBP for a while. Really tried to hold out as long as I could for the new models but I absolutely love the rMBP I have now. I'm sure the new ones will be cool and I would have loved to have a Pro in Space Grey but I needed something for web development NOW, not 1-2 months from now.

They really are fantastic machines, aren't they? I looked at it this way: I'll use this computer for probably 5 years, by which point the technology that led to the MacBook will have led to some really interesting advances across the Pro line. It's the same reason I waited several iterations before getting a Retina MBP to begin with. Let them iron out the issues and perfect the design first.

Totally agree. If you follow the "Wait, Apple will come out with something better soon" mantra, you'll never buy a single product. To be honest, outside of the additional color choices, I'm not 100% I'll even like the changes they come out with. I'm not a fan of the new rMB keyboard and who knows what ports will be on it. I'm very happy and content with the rMBP I just bought. Definitely a great decision.

Todays the day!
I joined the apple fold 3 years ago, buying a 2nd hand 13" base model from a mate, which is now 6 years old. Its still running ok, but with an upgrade to my camera and bigger RAW files to deal with, I felt it was time to take the plunge.
Im using my Macs for mostly photo work, but am looking to maybe get into a bit of video, and I have wanted a bit of extra screen space for some time. So yesterday, I took the plunge and ordered a new from John Lewis (uk) who are offering a free 3 yr warranty until the end of the month.
I have opted for the 15" base model, which should be far more laptop than i'll ever need, and i'm hoping it will last me for many years to come.
Hmmm, now what to do with my old 13".....

Hello all!

I'm a writer and had been using PCs since I was 16. My hubs surprised me by getting me the MacBook Air a week ago, but after further research, we exchanged it for the 13in rMBP (2015) and I couldn't be happier.
Have Scrivener up and running (with none of my near 90,000 words lost!) and I'm back on my way.
I look forward to learning all there is to know about my new machine, even outside of my work.
Best gift ever

Can't wait any longer. Got a MJLT2LL for $1,750. I don't care for new Iris as the dGPU will take care of what I need. I had a Surface Pro 4, but too many sleep issues and returned it. Hopefully this one turns out nicer and I can use it a long long time.

In one day last week, I bought a 2012 cMBP (15" 2.6MHz/16GB) and 2011 cMBP (13" 2.8/8), both in mint condition for $1050 (for both)! I bought them to replace a 2012 rMBP (15" 2.7/16/768) and 2008 MB (13" 2.0/4). The day after I sold the 2008 MB and the rMBP is for sale now! :D

Hi, I'm new here :

I was on the fence back in October, and I'd like to chime in and say that I'm infinitely happy I decided to take the plunge with a 2015 MBP Retina 15", at the highest model.

I edit documentaries on rock and roll scenes around the globe, on a C100, and have just switched to Premiere CC.

This thing screams, and I'm super happy with it. I upgraded from a 2010 low-end MBP.

Couldn't be happier, and with the waiting continuing, I am glad I did it.

Anyways, all the best.

You have the 2015. 2016 is not out yet

Right. In 2015 Apple released the 13.3" rMBP (March 2015) and then in May the 15" rMBP. If someone buys the rMBP now in 2016 it is still the 2015 model, as that is the last year in which refreshes were done. If you look at "About This Mac" you'll see that it says " 15-inch, Mid-2015."

I just purchased the 2015 base-model 2.2GHz 15" rMBP which was on sale for $500 off (i'm Australian, paying the ridiculous Australian pricing of Mac computers, so I see that as a great deal).

I'd been using the 2012 Retina since Christmas 2012 and wanted to upgrade.
I still love the design of the current MBP's and if they do release a new design in a few months, I will probably upgrade in 2018 to get the 2nd iteration.
