I just bought the 13" rMBP. I don't believe there will be any meaningful changes anyways until next year.
Hey, just got my first MBP -- 13-inch early-2015 MBP w/Retina.
This is a really, really ignorant question. But I swear, I swearched the thread and I searched the web but couldn't find an answer...
Is there no longer a power indicator anywhere on the unit, or am I just blind?? My 2007 MacBook has one. My wife's 2011 MBP has one...but it would be nice to know if my MBP is indeed fully shut down before I close it and put it in the case...is there a definitive way to know without having to spin the thing around and watch the little cut-out apple?
Do you have the force-touch trackpad? If so, it will only vibrate when the system isn't fully shutdown I think?
Okay, that's weeeeeeeeeird! (not to mention a BAD IDEA -- software controlling hardware functionality??) Yeah...when it's shut down, that thing is NOT clickable at all! I'll see of the same is true for when it's simply in the midst of shutting down, but yeah, I think this'll have to do.
There is not... A bit off topic, but why are you shutting it down? Just close the lid and sleep it. You lose 1-2% per day maybe.
Well, I did just that last night. I put my rMBP (not even two weeks old, btw) to sleep last night at about 11, 94% battery power left. Awakened it this morning, around 6ish. 77% battery power. So, yeah...I'm going to continue shutting down.
Thats's abnormal. You have something running in the background.Well, I did just that last night. I put my rMBP (not even two weeks old, btw) to sleep last night at about 11, 94% battery power left. For what kind of tasks do you buy it? I'm about to buy this model or the one with dGPU too, and I wonder what will be your main use of itI just bought my first Retina Mac.

I wanted enough power to dual boot Windows, graphics work, multiple VM's, and just a little future proofing. My dual core 2nd gen i7 is still kicking and works great, the quad i7 should be good for years to come. For what kind of tasks do you buy it? Thanks and enjoy the laptop!
Same here!Same model as me. Fantastic device, excellent choice!
I ordered a refurbed 2015 15" 16gb RAM AMD370x 1tb MBP to replace a refurbed 4gb RAM 500gb HD 13" 2012 MBP. I had not one bit of trouble, never heard the fans, never saw a spinning beachball during the three years I used the 2012. I regret now replacing it but I have been getting into hobby photography and photo editing and was filling up that small hard drive and thought that I might begin to have problems. I am not highly technical, just knew I wanted no regrets later that I hadnt bought "enough". I did not need portability but did need the smaller size of the mbp compared to the imac that I would have rather had. So why do I regret...I had 3 kernel panics the first week I had it, after third time I called Apple and they had me shut down/restart in Safe Mode, then restart normally. Its been 3 weeks now with no more kernel panics but who knows. Then there is that loud fan noise! So I am not enjoying this 2015 refurbed one like I did the 2012.
I guess its just me, too, but I am not appreciating noticeable difference in the larger retina screen nor a noticeable faster speed. Maybe the issues right off the start just soured me on it, IDK.
That's why I'm doubtful about buying a refurbished machine. You can have no problems with it, like your first machine, because maybe it comes from a returned unit, but on the other hand, a refurb machine is also one that have been repaired due some fault...likely the second machine has had that error before and someone returned it...I hope you don't have to deal with that anymore!
OK so i'm about to take the plunge and purchase a 13" rMBP (March 2015 model)
8GB, 256GB, i5 2.7.
Question. what if any are the disadvantage of buying refurb over new.
I'll only be saving £180 / $250
The savings would go towards buying Final Cut Pro
Thanks
Seems like a good move looking at the front page, I bought a similar config during Xmas.Ordered today.
