GF change, the virus stays!

My gf didnt allow me to buy the new MBP. So I'm picking up the 2015 MBP tomorrow, and take her out for dinner from the money I saved. I hope the dinner is worth it.

How much worse is the base 13" 2015 model compared to the base 2016 model? Please make me feel good.

Just went ahead and ordered a 2015 refurb macbook pro.

Was really on the fence between having the latest and greatest in terms of the TouchBar as well as new design. But I really couldn't justify spending about $1000CAD on the difference. In total the refurb was a touch under $3000 (without apple care yet) compared to the $4100 I would have spent getting the new 2016.

Specs are:
2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache
15.4-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2880x1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch
16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
512GB PCIe-based flash storage 1
720p FaceTime HD Camera
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and AMD Radeon R9 M370X

I'll mostly be using this for web development and ios/android on the side. Also do some work with Lightroom and Photoshop.

Did I make the right decision??

I still think you should go into an Apple store and checkout the touchbar. You never know. You might have a little regret later on. Human beings are unpredictable :)

After making the call to not upgrade because I didn't want to divert resources away from other family financial goals, my company decided to pick up the tab for the new laptop. So I'm in.

Ok, I exaggerate a bit. I dont want to bore you with stories about my girl and I. I'm just wondering if I did a good purchase with the 2015 base model. But I have to say, I'm happy to see there are still people down to earth these days.

It was a terrible purchase because you let "your girl" disallow you to do something. Was it her money?

Bought mine, but not coming until 5 December earliest! Anyone know if these estimates tend to be accurate or slightly conservative?

I.e. Is there any chance of getting mine early? :D

I was waiting for this update all year to make to switch to mac and got priced out of it. Just got a 15" 2015 MacBook Pro 250gb from eBay £1350 brand new. Was tempted by a new 13 but wanted a bigger screen with the plus of having sd card reader.

I ordered mine at my local Elkjøp store here in Norway, and managed to score a 20% discount on it aswell, now I just have to wait for delivery! :) It´s priced at 24,990,- NOK here ($3023) and I got it for 19,992,- NOK ($2418), so its a quite big discount for a all new model!

What are the chances of the touch bar MBP being in stock in-store? iPhone 7's still showing 3-4 week dispatch a month later but hoping to pick up the MBP in store.

After seeing the new ones, I just got a 2015 refurb. Yeah, it doesn't have the touch bar, but it DOES have SD card ports, regular USB ports, and I don't have to carry around 10 adapters to do what I want. Coupled with the fact that with four kids, Magsafe has protected me more than once. The 2015 is the same as my work one, and is waaaay sufficient to do what I do with it. (Most powerful thing I might run on it would be Portal on steam, emulators, etc.)

Current model: 2012 13" MBP Core i5, 2-3 hour battery life, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
Ordered: Refurb 2015 13" MBP Core i5 2.9, all day battery life, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

Should be here on Monday. Just need to procure a Thunderbolt cable to do the migration. One kid will get the old 2012 one.

Just ordered maxed out 13 with touch bar to replace my old and rusty 2010 MBP.
Should be fun, anlthough delivery between 9 and 15 dec kinda hurts.

First time poster; first time MBP owner.

Here's the rundown on purchase.
  • 2.9GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB VRAM
  • 1TB PCIe-based SSD
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • KYBD/USER'S GUIDE
  • COUNTRY KIT
Order currently states it'll be here by Turkey Day!

[doublepost=1477893418][/doublepost]Ordered a 15" 2.6 GHz / 512GB SSD / Radeon Pro 460 4Gb

I bought a 2nd hand 2012 MBPr 15". Apple Genius said there's no issue with it. I did a stress test on the GPU with HEAVEN for 8 hours. Should I keep going?

After eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new MBPs and having sold my old 17" 2011 MBP earlier in the summer and switched to a second hand 13" 2015 as a stop gap, I was all set to buy the 2016 15" machine.

However, (and I guess we knew it was coming) with the loss of all the 'legacy' ports and the huge price hike in the UK I found I couldn't justify the outlay (close to £3,000 for the config I wanted) As I will never really make use of the additional grunt the new machine provides (I'm a hobby photographer and so use LR and Photoshop in terms of intensive programs).

Therefore over the weekend I pulled the trigger on a 7 month old 2015 15" MBP with the 2GB dGPU and 512GB SSD, and apple care until March 2019, second hand from Ebay for £1,400 delivered. Half the price of buying the new one, (albeit with lower performance and no new touch bar to play with) :D

Bought a refurb:

Originally released March 2015
13.3-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2560-by-1600 resolution at 227 pixels per inch

8GB of 1866MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory
256GB PCIe-based flash storage1
720p FaceTime HD Camera

Intel Iris Graphics 6100

Still considering returning it and getting a 2016 version with 16 GB RAM. The refurb store didn't have any with 16 GB :(

I'M HOMELESS NOW. They closed thee thread :-( Kinda have no point in coming back to this site now.

Yeah, I don't know where to get over my hangovers anymore.
I still didn't buy the 2016 MBP, I don't have enough money and I want to wait a little bit for reviews and benchmarks.
But sooner or later I'll join this club.
I already waited so long, a couple of months more won't be bad.
I'll prepare memes.
Are you with @Dydegu?
:D
