Been monitoring Apple's refurbished store and saw 2015 MBP 15" being snapped very quickly. So I just placed my order as soon as the model I want was available. It's gone now :D

Just found a 15" 2015 2.8ghz 1TB MB Pro for $2000 on Craigslist w/ Apple Care until 2018. Good price !? Saw it on the refurb store for $2620 before taxes.

I ordered a new 2015 15" Retina MacBook Pro from apple on October 27 right after the release of the new touch bar 2016 ones. It came in the mail a few days ago. Coming from a 2011 MacBook Pro that only has 4gb of memory, the 2015 model is still a pretty big upgrade.

I'm not quite ready to let go of the ports that are still included on the 2015 model. I'll probably upgrade to the all USB-C model in another few years.

Can anyone tell whether new macs sold with Sierra come formatted with the new APFS file system? are there any tangible advantages over the old fs?
People kept saying that osx needed a new fs so badly, does this solve whatever they think needed be solved?

edit: upon more reading, it says it'll be available on bootable partition in 2017.

Anyone think $2550 for a fully loaded new, sealed in box 2015 15" MacBook Pro is a good buy ? I was going to buy a used one in CL for $2000 flat but the seller flaked. Found another one for this price new since he purchased the 2016 model and couldn't return this one anymore. Thoughts?

Amazon has them for 2399 16gb ram,512ssd, AMD, just bought a brand new one from them.

Just out of curiosity, why buy a maxed out Non-TB version for $2,199 when you can get the faster TB version with 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM for the same price?

I ordered from the web site and no option was given to upgrade the Hard drive at the time of my order.

Edit in fact After just checking the apple.com site you still can not order a different hard drive for the TB 13 inch.

That's because the $1,999 model is the one with the 512GB SSD. In fact the hard drive is the only upgrade from the base model.

I picked up a 2015 15" 2.5GHz, 512GB, M370X on ebay for $1700. Still has a couple years of Apple Care on it. The same model was $2100 for an Apple refurb.

I'm happy with it so far. Definitely a good performance jump from my Late 2011 2.2GHz.

Got the same MBP recently, without AppleCare, used from an Amazon seller for $1200. The prices there aren't always that good- I was looking every odd morning until this one poppped up.

I wanted something still in warranty but then read this article and figured the price + flat rate repair in the USA was still a good price overall:

Ran the Apple hardware test and looked at battery cycle and everything checks out!

I'm moving from a non retina 13" MacBook Pro 2012. Call me conservative... I feel good about getting the last rev of a model that's been around for a while and been refined. Sticking with familiar ports feels good too!

That's a great deal! And your logic with the flat rate repair pricing makes total sense.

After one full day of use, I must say the 2.8ghz, 16gb ram, 2GB Graphic card 2015 15" model is so damn fast! $2500 laptop is a huge purchase for me but no regrets. The FCP X effects/render time is practically non existent which is such a huge upgrade compared to my mid 2010 13" with 2.2ghz dual core, 4gb ram. Lol

How does it compare to your old MBP in performance and screen quality? Where have you noticed the most differences?

I have the same (mid-2012 13") and am either considering the same upgrade you did, or the new 15" MBP with Touch Bar + AMD 460 GPU.

I'd been pondering my next purchase for a long time now. A few months ago a used Mini became my "main" computer, though I spent most of my time on an iPad 3. With a need to do coding and something faster, I that about the iPad Pro 12.9 + keyboard, but that wouldn't quite cut it for programming and being able to reference stuff at the same time.

Thought about the rMB - loved the form factor, couldn't get past the keyboard. 2016 MBP felt better, but still noisy for my quiet home environment.

Just ordered a refurb 2015 13" MBP, $1189 256/8GB. The in-stock status fluctuated quite a bit today. Enough for coding and web/email stuff. Am I proud for ordering old tech? Nope. And I have few issues with USB-C only. But I love that old keyboard and MagSafe!

Just caved and bought late 2016 15" pro with higher end amd card and 512 SSD. This will be the first and last computer I buy that costs over $3k. I feel dirty but I need it.

Sold my mid-2015 15-inch rMPB in June just to buy the upcoming upgraded model.
I have been using Apple products for the last 10 years and thought of NEVER EVER going back to Windows and Microsoft. Today I actually have a second thought about switching over once again.

The NEW MacBook "Pro" is just a peace of **** compared to what it could have been. Apple need to stop going for thinner designs all the time and excluding ports. As a PRO user I need my outputs, and would swap a slightly thicker unibody in order to fit a bigger battery. Give me 15h of battery instead of 10. Give me 32GB of ram instead of 16! Give me ports I need.

It's so obvious that Apple doesnt care about it's pro users anymore and that makes me feel so sad. It just dosent work to release a "gimmick" product like the touch-bar in order to make it feel new. I dont care about the touch-bar, I want power and battery.

In mpow I would like to see the old design but with the new Sky-Lake and on option for 32GB + 1 USB-C. For me, that would be a PRO machine.

Well, I will buy the mid-2015 model once again since I think the latest 2016 REALLY SUCKS.

It says 24 hour ship date and arrival of June 10-11

I got the education deal with the free ipod touch ... 1728 total with tax.
[doublepost=1479042133][/doublepost]hi i got the educational discount

The retina screen is night and day compared to the non-retina... no surprise there! I was actually surprised by how much bigger the 15" display is as well as the overall size/width of the laptop body.

I had upgraded my mid-2012 with a Samsung 840 Pro and 16GB RAM. I probably could've stuck it out for another year with it- I did notice myself hitting some walls with loading and lag. There is absolutely no lag or slow down with this mid mid-2015 and I can see it lasting me 5 years.
