I just couldn't get on with the touch bar, and had all the time a bad feeling about it, so i cancelled my order. Got myself a 2015 2.2Ghz new MBP 15 for 1650 Euro. I will just wait and see how this goes, and the 2015er will serve me well for 2 more years, till then we will have 32 Gig of Ram, new colours and so on.

You bought into the hate. They are amazing, easily the best laptop on the planet. Blows my 2013 out off the water. Touch bar is great. The sound system is amazing. Really satisfied.

I got the same thing but with the 455. Its amazing you will love it.
I am glad you think so. Coming from a pre-unibody 2008 MBP, I can't wait for the speed. And to stop getting the "Your startup disk is almost full" message every time I boot up lol.

Been watching the Apple Store Canada for a 2.8GHz 1TB 2015 rMBP and they came back up today. $1255 cheaper than the comparable 2016 I specced out when you factor in the taxes and everything. Delivers Nov 29th, couldn't be happier. I was deadly close to pulling the trigger on the 2016 but the lack of a good display option kept me in limbo and then the new machines benchmarking lower that last year's model pushed me the other way.

I really hope they release a real Apple display and if they do I will re-evaluate the situation then. Maybe once they're done designing furniture for the spaceship they'll be able to focus on their products again.

So like many of you, I was waiting and waiting, and then could not get my head around the new ones. So I've decided to get a 2.5 or 2.8 2015 rMBP with Radeon and 1TB SSD. However, I cannot find them anywhere! And not at the refurb store either. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Or is one likely to turn up at the refurb store if I just keep checking back?

I've seen them pop up on the refurb store every few days recently but they do seem to disappear quick. I think I saw some new in box on eBay that you might want to check out.

Use refurb.me

You can search for the model you want and set an alert on it so they will email you when it is back in stock. That way you don't have to keep checking the refurb store non-stop.

They seem to have some on eBay. I bought a new early 2015 13" from an authorized Apple re-seller which is perfect. Here is one that is available: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Apple-M...556683?hash=item3d2b4e4c4b:g:dRoAAOSwLF1X~BSh

Was watching refurb 15" 2015 (512GB, with dGPU) v.s. 2016 high end (2.7, Radeon 455, 512GB). For work, so taxes not factoring into my decision. The 2015 was 940$ less expensive (in Canada). I was almost sure I'd end up with this one.

My local apple store had the new ones in stock, and I went in expecting to confirm my preference for the 2015 model. Coming from a non-retina 2011 model.

Ended up walking out with the 2016 model. Keyboard was non-issue (though now that I've been typing on it for a day, I do agree its LOUD, but key travel issues do not bother me).

I like the slightly lighter and smaller form factor. Screen is GORGEOUS, bright and the colours are amazing.

Dongles not a big issue for me, I have a couple I need, but like the idea that going forward all will be USB-C.

TouchID is great, though not sure why its not allowed to use it after power-up etc.

Touchbar - not really using it much so far. I use BusyCal and PostBox which do not support it yet -- hope they implement same useful features as the built in apple app equivalents.

I hope the next version of magic mouse will have USB-C to USB-C power connector on it and not a USB-A to lightning.

This is my machine for next 4-6 years. My guess it will remain very consistent, except for the keyboard noise.

Thanks for this, and thanks to the person that recommended RefurbMe. I have a new position at a public university, and we are required to buy new or refurbished from Apple, so unfortunately can't take advantage of eBay I don't think. (Though I will pass on to the person who has to order it for me...)

I just went into the new Apple Store in Arrowhead Mall in Peoria Arizona and they had a lot of new MacBook Pros in stock! I snagged a 13" i7 16GB 512 space Gray. Heading home now to set this tiny beast up!

I just bought the 2016 15" MacBook Pro in Silver. 2.9 GHz, 1 TB drive, Radeon 460. I was about to order it online, but after seeing rumors that local stores were starting to get some shipments, I went to one of the Apple Stores here in Atlanta and they had it in stock. So far in the last two days I've had it, I'm loving it. (And I've only used a dongle once so far to transfer some data onto it.) Here's the unboxing video I created for it:

Got my 13 tMBP Thursday, and I've been on it all waking hours since doing work, plus prepping, testing, and researching. This is a damn nice computer. I came from a 09 MBP and it feels ancient by comparison (because it is). However, I have seen/used iterations in between - MBA, MBP 2012, MB 2015, not to mention PC's. I was waiting for the refreshed retina MBA that never came. I "settled" on the new MBP, but this thing really is as small and light as the air, with added power. The one thing that is deficient by comparison is the battery life, but it's not as bad as initially thought. It's highly variable as others have noted, and I just needed to get familiar with how processes use power. MBA is legendary on battery so not a fair comparison. This is a solid, well designed work of art. I'm so impressed with build quality and how smooth it runs. I didn't expect to use the touch bar/ID much, but I'm getting more dependent on it. Controls take getting used to, but they are starting to feel very intuitive. So impressed by the build and weight. I don't plan on keeping this one another 7 years, but this will be just fine as long as I have it. I can go on about this thing, but I'm sure you've heard it all already.

We've heard EVERYTHING already, but usually it's some BS from people who haven't touched one, pun intended. Glad you like it! I still have another month wait on the 15" I ordered on Thursday. :(

I just bought brand new mid-2015 but it was from the online store. I know that the local Apple Store still has them so might be worth a phone call.

Oh, how do you order the mid-2015 from the Apple Store online? I couldn't find it anywhere! I'd prefer refurb to save money, but at this point I'm getting a bit desperate to find a 15" with 16GB and 1TB and the AMD radeon card *anywhere*, with

Since I can find it without the AMD Radeon, I'm wondering whether I really need the GPU. I'll be doing basic 4K video editing but nothing major, but might like to do some color correction. And I can't update for four years (university pays for it). Will rendering times be dramatically slower without it?

One of the first things I did on the new MBP was fire up World of Warcraft. I'm using macOS & Metal API. Specs are 1TB, 2.7, 460. At first I was a little disappointed when I bumped up to mid settings and was getting low frame-rates. Then I changed my resolution to just above the 1920x1080 that I used on my Dell XPS 1647 and I was able to crank up the rest of the settings. I was used to playing on the lowest settings and the fans screaming like banshees on my Dell.

Parameters

I've slowly been increasing parameters individually and I'm blown away. I'm generally on mid-high settings. The most noticeable changes have been increasing my liquid quality and increasing the environmental/view/ground clutter sliders (all at 10 and still at 60FPS in questing zones).

The colors in general are super vibrant (almost over-saturated). Spells and effects make it like I'm playing an entirely different game. It's like going from Xbox to Xbox 360 back in the day.

Temperature and Fans

I did realize that Apple prefers a quiet machine to a cool machine, as it gets pretty hot before the fans kick on. The fans are much quieter than I'm used to, so I'm fine with it. The game sound drowns them out anyway. I do use a cooling pad because putting the laptop directly on my lap is uncomfortable because of the heat. The cooling pad does a great job at mitigating this (even if it's not plugged in) and I notice the laptop is cooler when the pad is on.

Bugs

I have noticed a few minor bugs. When switching resolutions, I get a crazy red and black checker board, but restarting the game fixes this. Also, a few times parts of the ground textures have become transparent, so I'm walking on thin air. I'll have to take some screenshots. This never happened on Windows.

Mouse Acceleration

The most frustrating thing is that the two gaming mice I have are so wonky with this whole mouse acceleration thing. It's very hard to be as precise as I was on Windows. It's so bad that I've started learning how to play with just the trackpad, which actually hasn't been too bad.

I've tried the whole
Code:
defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1
thing but it's not the same as on Windows. I either have to get used to it, learn to use the trackpad, or install Boot Camp I suppose. It seems the one solution, SmoothMouse has no replacement.

TL;DR: Coming from a 2010 Dell XPS, the 15" MBP handles WoW like a champ. The macOS mouse acceleration sucks compared to Windows when using a gaming mouse, however.

I have just called with Apple to order my macbook, after cancelling 2 times because I wasn't certain which specs to get. They gave me a discount of 35€ which is quite nice. Now I only have to pay 1563 euro for the base non-touch bar version, which makes it more affordable to me!

This is kind of in jest, but not really, but the best way to make the waiting time pass is to not be on this forum. I was on that shipping thread as soon as I got to "Shipped" status on my order, and it just made the wait more painful. I was on the road and lugging around my 5 pound 2009 MBP, and I didn't even think about this new beast coming for 2 weeks. Constant refreshing of status and following airplanes around doesn't make the order come any faster. In the end, I got it exactly at the beginning of my delivery window, with tons of drama in between. Heed my warning folks, that shipping thread is a sick cult.

Good advice. I'm currently in dongle mode, trying to figure out how best to connect to everything. I ordered an Apple TV along with it since I wanted one or one of its competitors, and now I'll be able to AirPlay to my TV for movies, so I got it over a Roku. I think a few of these will be my friends... https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Adapte...79756533&sr=8-3&keywords=aukey+usb+c+to+usb+3

I think that should take care of everything. Now I'm just waiting for the 5k LG display to be available to purchase. I'm hoping both of those come at the same time or the display after, so I don't have the display sitting around. That'd be such a tease.

Funny, I got a set of those adapters too. All you really need on the go. Test that they both work though. I had one that didn't. Love the Apple TV, but I honestly never airplay since my content is already in there or my Roku. Jealous of your on the way LG display. I've had my monitor for only a year so I won't be in the market anytime soon. I'm sure you know, but the dongle thread has good info on dongle/setup options.

Anyone having any luck finding a 2015 model with amd graphics and 512 - 1tb ssd on eBay for Canadians?

I find the prices are generally higher than the one I can grab off the refurbished store...

Yes, I'm in the US and finding the same thing. A link further upthread wanted $3400! I've found one in a local Apple Store but it's $3100 plus tax, which seems steep, about the same price as the new one. Ughhhhhh
