After a great deal of debate I bought a 15" mid-2015 MBP today. Microcenter has the 15" 2.5GHz/512GB model on clearance for $2399 so I decided to pick one up before they disappear. The touch bar on the new MBP is interesting but I didn't care for the keyboard or the oversized touchpad. The lack of "legacy ports" on the new model closed the deal for me.

B&H Photo has the 2.5GHz/512GB model for $2249 and they are throwing in Parallels for Mac free an $80.00 value and you can get Apple care for only $299.00 which is less than Apple's price and they don't charge sales tax if you live outside NY. It pays to shop around for all deals available if your buying last yrs model.

I'll be getting a 15" base with TB 256gb. Unfortunately all of Sydney are out of stock. The stores have the 512 but I can't justify the extra $650.

I thought about B&H for buying Apple care but didn't think about them to buy the computer. Looks like the price bumped back up to $2399? The added software is a nice value, something to think about for the next order, though I am trying to break the Windows habit. After Windows 8 was released I decided that my next new computer would not a be a Windows machine.

So far I'm very pleased with my new MBP. My old laptop is a Sony VAIO from 2008 so it's quite an upgrade for me.

Do you think we will start to see 2016 MacBook Pro's 13" and 15" in the refurbished store soon?

Just ordered the nTB 13 base model for 1200$ ☺️ Sold my 2013 15' base model because I ended up only using it at home since its not very portable for me. I'll miss the screen real estate but I'll just hook it up to my monitor at home I guess.
For anyone who lives in Japan I recommend purchasing it through the kakaku website, all electronics are much cheaper there. Got my iPad Pro and iPhone 6s there for 200-300 dollars cheaper also. Also for selling your electronics in Japan I recommend sofmap, from my experience they pay the highest price

Here's a twist: just got a 2016 MBP (15" Space Grey, TouchBar, highest end retail model) from Amazon. "Like New" condition.

$2,469 shipped after 5% Amazon store card rebate. Edit: I don't understand, but the 15" was brand new, sealed, never touched. I'm pretty shocked (came from Amazon, E ZEE electronics as the "used" seller). Nice

I know, it's trash, but I'm pumped. Better than $2,799 + tax. I'll add Apple Care, essentially for free (will find a B&H deal on it, too).

My local Best Buy has an open box 2015 (latest of the generation) 15" w/1tb SSD for $2,695 (retail $3,199). I tried to negotiate an extra 10% off with the manager but she was snotty about it, so I walked out. It's usually very easy to do, but she was cranky. I wished her luck on the sale and left. It's pristine and located in Park City, UT if anyone wants to try their negotiation skills.

Finding deals is fun!

Going to return the base 2016 13" open box I got from Best Buy at $1,349 - 10% off, paid $1,214.10 + tax. (I simply asked and they gave me 10% on the spot). Nice machine, but I'm selling off other stuff to pay for the top-end 15". Going down to one machine finally.

After much deliberation and research I just ordered a refurbished MacBook Pro 2015 2.2 ghz 512 SSD I got the lower priced one with just internal iris pro graphics since I don't need the dedicated one. I saved a bunch and got the apple care too. This will replace my old Dell studio laptop from 2009 (Win 7) it's a relic. Ha

Where did you pick it up from and for how much money? If I have any issues with my 2016 model, that will be the exact one I get lol.

Apple Store, $1869 a brand new one would have cost $2199 with these specs so I saved some money. I really don't want to deal with adapters and the mag safe sounds like a great idea although I've never used one.

Congrats. After much deliberation myself, I think tomorrow I am going to try to snag a 2016 ntMBP at my local Apple store. Eventually I plan to pair this with LG's 27UD88 4K monitor. This configuration will effectively replace my 2009 iMac and 2012 MBA.

I doubt it will be anytime soon

I plan on getting 2x the lg 5k monitors for my 15" .. since it will be my only computer .. never did the laptop plus external display setup before though

FYI - Just wanted to let everyone know that the nTB MBP is $1399 at Best Buy now through the end of Saturday. Shockingly, Apple matched this tonight.

The extra $100 difference made the nTB model a no-brainer.

Just purchased a refurb mid 2015 15", 2.5ghz/16gb/512gb/M370X. Buddy works at Apple so with sale they have on that model right now ($300 off), staff discount (15%) and no tax (Oregon) I paid $1801. Too much of a deal to pass up, and not worth the extra $800 to "upgrade" right now with how underwhelming the 2016 model is. In a couple of years once they've gotten the machine better (32gb RAM) and USB-C is the standard I can upgrade and sell the one I just bought at only a small loss.

Couldn't resist the 13" 2.7/8gb MPB at Best Buy for $1099. Gift card knocked it down to $999. My aging office PC is on its deathbed...and plan on using this with an external monitor.

FYI, bhphotovideo.com has a good selection in stock and shipping (and even a few $50-$100 off + if you're out of state will save on tax). Ordered tonight, picking it up Sunday. 2010 MBP finally bit it Friday (logic board) so 13" ntb MBP. Lack of ports concerning but using that $300 saved on the new LG 4K monitor.

hi everyone, I was looking for a 2015 macbook pro 15inch and I was interested about the refurbished models. were they all defective models or they could be also new models discontinued ? thank you

I got my refurbished MacBook Pro 2015 15" 2.2 ghz 512 SSD the other day from Apple and it looks perfect, not a scratch, everything works great and I even saved about $330.00 from buying new w/ my specs. The touch pad is really nice and works better than I expected. I know Apple increase the nits on the new model but seriously this 2015 is bright enough for me on the highest setting. It came preloaded with Sierra. The display is beautiful.

This was a better purchase for me since I can plug in my iPhone in day one and no extra cords or adapters. I downloaded Coconut Battery and it shows mine was built in Sept 2016 and it only had 8 cycle counts on the battery. So whoever returned this hardly used it at all. It was hard finding the exact model I wanted in the refurb store as they go quickly, I didn't need the dedicated graphics but I did want 512 SSD.

I also got a 2015 15''. Base model with Intel Iris Pro.

I'm mostly a front end developer / UI designer these days.

I paid full price, we aren't as lucky with discounts and refurbished South of the border.
  • Screen is flawless for sRGB (deltaE below 0.5 when calibrated) and I will never need DCI-P3 color space.
  • I very rarely use the display on my current MBP higher than 60%
  • Still has the best keyboard ever made in a laptop
  • CPU performance is only 15% less compared to the 2016 models
  • SSD performance is pretty close to the 2016 models
  • I have no need for a dGPU on a laptop (I have desktops for that)
  • Battle tested reliable machine
Not only I'm not interested in the new features of the 2016 models (huge trackpad, weight, size, screen brightness), but the keyboard and touchbar are deal breakers for me. Also the recurrent battery and GPU issues remind me too much of the 2011 fiasco which I suffered.

As for the dongles, it wouldn't be a huge deal for me, but I don't need TB3. I've had a few macs with Thunderbolt 1 & 2 and I've never connected anything other than an external display.

Hopefully in a couple of years when I need a new laptop, Apple will have a better MBP lineup.

Good as new if not better, I have bought many refurbished laptops from Apple, most just to make up my damn mind.
