After the reviews today, I cancelled my order for a fully loaded 2016 15" (1 TB, RX460) and grabbed a 2015 (1 TB, R9 M370X) instead. Saved $1000 versus the 2016.

The 2016 is a sexy machine, but ultimately I decided the design and/or the industry need time to settle down and mature.

I did almost the exact same thing, as soon as the benchmark scores came for the maxed out 2016 15", I rushed to my refurb store to place an order for the exact same model you did.

USB-C is not there yet, if it ever will, and touch bar remains to be a gimmick until substantial number of apps adopt it. I also get to keep all my USB-A, thunderbolt 1/2, minidisplay port, HDMI stuff connected out of the box. And I still have Magsafe.

Money saving aside, it is simply a much more sound investment, and the under-power-ness of 2016 sealed the deal.

I just ordered a 2015 15" 2.5 i7 512gb.
A nice upgrade from my 2011 15" 2.0 i7 which I will now sent off to get the graphics fixed and then sell

Came home yesterday and saw the surprise birthday gift from wife.
It's a 15" space grey touchbar 2.9/16/512/AMD460.

It's blazing fast. I like the touch bar despite all the negative reviews.
The built quality is very top notch.

Wife bought me my last 13" late 2011 MBP. It's still rocking after upgraded to 16gb ram and samsung 840 pro, but it stutters when playing anything higher than 1080P videos. I hope this one will last me another 4-6 years.

I mostly do photo post processing and light GoPro videos editing.
It's a great upgrade over my 13". Planning to get the LG 5K UltraFine later.

Just went to my local Apple Store to just check on inventory, not expecting anything since I want a 15" with 2.9 GHz, 1 TB, and 460 video card. Unfortunately they didn't have one in space gray that I wanted, but they did have a silver one. So, I bought that bad boy and am headed home to set it up! Got to use my education discount and saved $270 as well!

does anyone know whether there's a way to change the specs on your order without going to the back of the queue?

i want to adjust the processor i ordered without having to add 3-4 weeks to my delivery window

My 15" fully-loaded 2015 refurb (2.5, 1 TB, AMD) just arrived. Oddly, it shipped with El Capitan instead of Sierra.

After a week of contemplating and changing cart contents at multiple sites and ordered my 13" base MacBook Pro without touch bar to pick up from Apple tomorrow. Was going to order from B&H to save on tax but like the idea of using the extended return policy to make my mind up over a month+ if a $1,500 laptop with lesser specs than my $600 2011 Mac Mini will be good to use 6+ hours a day for office and outlook.

I've just joined the 2015 rMBP owners club (well, almost, I'll be picking it up on Sunday). I've spent weeks agonising over what set of compromises to accept. I was first set on a new 11" MBA with 8GB RAM to replace my ageing 2011 model but then Apple killed it. I then turned to the 13" MBA but the post-Brexit price hike made it seem poorer VFM with its non-retina screen. The rMB with its solitary USB-C port was a no from the get-go, and the new 2016 rMBPs that have abandoned the MagSafe and other legacy ports seem like an erroneous step backwards, especially given the inflated RRP. That left me with one choice, a 2015 rMBP. I was about to pull the trigger on an Apple Store refurb for £1,059, saving £190 off the new Apple price, but then found out my local JL store still had a few units left at the pre-Brexit price of £999, so my decision was made. I am slightly concerned about whether the 128GB will be sufficient, however I tend to store all of my TBs of data on my Mac Pro and numerous external hard drive backups so I should be OK using the rMBP for transient storage as long as the apps I install aren't GB guzzlers! Also I find the new trackpad almost impossible to use (I have cerebral palsy and am very heavy-handed and find the trackpad on the rMBP clicks way to easily compared to the MBA), but an external bluetooth mouse will solve this issue (I already use a bluetooth keyboard so that's ok). I'm really looking forward to the 13.3" retina display, which will be a nice upgrade after using an 11.6" MBA for years (despite having a beast of a Mac Pro and 22" screen at home, I am invariably drawn to working from a laptop due to its portability).

I had been saving for a couple of years, waiting for the new 15" MBP but I wasn't really impressed by things. So, I bought the base 2015 2.2 ghz, 256gb before the price went up and I love it. Main use is for photography/video and the ports suit me just fine.

My last laptop was a 2012 13", which died at the end of last year and my new one is truly amazing in comparison. I tried the 2016 13" in John Lewis and my old, arthritic fingers couldn't get on with that keyboard at all and I also prefer the build of the 2015, so no regrets here.

Now that's a good wife!

After looking at reviews and contemplating for some time, I just ordered refurbished 2015 13" MBP (2.7/16/256) and am going to cancel previous order of 2016 13" touchbar MBP (3.1/16/512). I'm going to use the 2015 one for about two years and get a new one when problems seem to have worked out with the first generation touchbar MBP. I'm also saving $800 with the refurbished unit and don't have to buy any dongles.

Well, I have to say, I'm a happy camper right now. Second day with the new 15" MBP and I'm loving it. I can't see how anyone can use this machine and walk away saying it can't do what they need it to. Overpriced, yes, but this thing is fast and slick looking.

I have dual thunderbolt displays and I typically use my MacBooks in clamshell mode with them, but I want to get use to using the touch bar and Touch ID, so I'm struggling a bit identifying the best layout for use with the three screens. (Awesome problem to have, I feel blessed)

I hope everyone is enjoying their new machines (referb or new) as much as I am. See pic of my setup. I'd be glad to have ideas on layouts for dual screens with MacBook Pro.

wow, I just did the exact same thing - 2011 2.0 15" to a refurb 2015 15" 2.5v/radeon. Just got it today and this is the first post on my new computer. It's awesome! Hope you have a great experience with yours, too

I had ordered a 15" MBP 2.7 GHz / Radeon Pro 460 / 1 TB model on Oct 28, to pick up in store. Estimated delivery date was 12/5!

Today on a whim went to the Apple Store, Grand Central, NYC, and was able to buy a 2.9 GHz / 460/ 1 TB model! Cancelled the online order, got it early, and upgraded to 2.9 GHz (which I was debating doing anyway).

I just had a good news bad news moment. Good news! My company has a discount with Apple and I can save a bunch of money! Bad news, my maxed out 15" is now coming 12 days later....

(2.9/2TB/Radeon 460 ordered today, due Dec 20-30.)

I just picked up a 2.9/1 TB/460 from the local Apple Store on the way home from work. I'm going to run it alongside the 2015 refurb (2.5/1 TB/M370X) I got yesterday and decide which one to keep.

The Touch Bar is neat, but the new keyboard and Touch ID are amazing...

Definitely interested to see your thoughts on this.

I just decided to go wild and buy a 15" 2.7/512/460. Finally got a big raise, time to celebrate with something lightning fast. And for $8 on amazon I can get 2 tiny USB-C to USB-A adapters and call it a day. Now for that ultrafine 5K to come out to complete the package so I can spend half my raise in one month :(

You bought into the hate. They are amazing, easily the best laptop on the planet. Blows my 2013 out off the water. Touch bar is great. The sound system is amazing. Really satisfied.

I got the same thing but with the 455. Its amazing you will love it.

After much back and forth (and even purchasing a new 2016 13" rMBP) I just purchased a 2015 15" rMPB 2.5GHz 512GB. While the new design and form factor of the 2016 models is nice, I really need the power and speed and just couldn't justify spending $2400+ for a base 15" MacBook Pro at this time. Very happy with what I was able to get for the price!
