I just ordered a Mid-2017 TouchBar 13" MacBook Pro i7 3.5GHz, 16GB RAM, 512 SSD to replace my 2016 TouchBar 13" 2.9GHz i5, 8GB RAM.

The jump in performance for me will be fantastic.... Geekbench +1500 on the single core score and +2500 on the multi-core score.

I am an app developer and Xcode and multitasking on the 2016 model has been painful. I wanted the 13" for using the laptop on a plane (15" was too big to fit on a tray table). My 15" got 13,000+ on Geekbench multi-core, my 13" got 7500.

Finally I'll be approaching 15" performance levels again.

Ordered from B&H. Should be here in a few weeks. No tax!

Calm down :) be patient :) Patience is a virtue.

Although it has made it to Germany now :)

It has been delivered!! The screen on this thing is absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I can go back to my MBA after having using my shiny new toy. :)

I also just bought AppleCare+ for this thing. I know it's probably overkill, but I feel its better to have it and not need it than to one day need it and then not have it -- especially considering how much money I'm spending!

I'm totally taking this to work to play with it ;)

One more sleep for me :D:D:D:D:D

Mine is currently in Barking ready to make it's way home to me tomorrow

I bought AppleCare for both my 2012 rMBP and my 27" iMac and so glad I did seeing as both of them developed faults outside the warranty period. Both faults would have cost more than the AppleCare. The only Apple devices I don't have it on are my Watch and Time Capsule.

The way I see it is that if I buy the AppleCare I'm pretty much guaranteed to have the device for at least 3 years (unless I do something stupid like drop it or take it for a swim in which case the house insurance gets a hammering :D)

I can't get over how huge the screen is. Maybe it's the fact I'm coming from an 11" MBA, but this 13" screen feels like I have a 15"! The fact that I can *actually* make proper use of the Split View feature alone is such a welcome change.

And with the 16GB of RAM, I can actually *leave* apps open and not worry about the computer slowing down. Couple this with the SSD's insane read/write speeds, and... well, it's like I've jumped to the 4th dimension. LOL.

Clearly I'm used to not having these kinds of specs in any computer. It'll take some getting used to, yeah, but in all -- I'm totally satisfied. :)

Hello,

Guess I'll start here first, instead of making a new thread.

So I'm seriously considering buy a MacBook Pro and I do not want the newest one nor the 2016 one. The reason I came here is to see which MacBook Pro has the best graphics card for gaming (other than the 2017 or 2016 versions). Probably would try to play Guild Wars 2 on it, and would like to see from you guys that already have MBP's which one has the best GPU that can handle Guild Wars 2 and possibly BDO (Black Desert Online).

Now obviously a desktop would be the best route to take for gaming. But sometimes I need to kill time on the go and I'll have the notebook with me, but of course can't bring along the desktop with me. So this is one of the reason why I need to make sure I get a good MBP with a good GPU.

Look on th store for a 2015 15” MBP with a discrete gpu. Obviously the higher the number is on the gpu, the better.

Thanks for the reply.

Which store? The apple store? What does discrete mean? Is that dual graphics card or integrated?

I've heard the GT 750m is supposed to be one of the best so far, but I've also heard on the newest OS that MBP's run it isn't performing well, is this true?

You don’t want a laptop with an integrated graphics card because performance will be dire. Look at the Apple refurb store here:

https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/macbook_pro/15

You’ll want something with a Radeon 370X which is $1869.

Just got my 15', the speakers on this thing are breathtaking. The only thing I'm having issues with is registering the fingerprint lol; I'll try it again at work. But its quite the step up from my 2011 Pro, I can never go back to a regular screen after this.

Just picked up my new 2017 15" MBP, 2.8Ghz, Radeon 560, 1TB, which is replacing my well loved Mid 2010 15" 2.4Ghz Dual Core i5.

Looking forward to getting home from work, unboxing and migrating stuff across.

I'm having graphical glitches on a 2016 13" TB model which is about 4 weeks old and was bought as a refurb. I take it because i'm out of the 14 day period for returns I just need to go down the route of letting Apple fix it? I have no recourse to ask for a refund or exchange?

Just thought it was worth asking the question so I know my options.

My local Apple Store finally received stock of 15" MacBook Pros yesterday. They only had space grey, but today their batch of silver arrived.

They had one or two 15" 3.1 GHz, 1TB, Radeon Pro 560 models in stock in silver (my preferred colour) so I couldn't resist.

Been using it for a few hours and I can't really fault it yet. Long time lurkers may recall the many, many problems I had with several 2016 units. The keyboard on the 2017s has certainly had some sort of revision.

Dire?? that's a bunch of bunk. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro 15, the base model with integrated graphics card, and it runs just fine. Never had a problem using Photoshop, MS Office, games, and just about everything else I can throw at it. It's snappy and responsive, and a joy to use. You'll be fine with an integrated graphics card, and definitely not "dire."

I know, I know, I'm posting again about how much I love this machine -- I'm sure you all do, too!

But the battery life on this thing? It's comparable to my old Chromebook, which lasted ~8-10 hours off a single charge. I charged my MBP up to ~100% at about 2, maybe 2:30pm today. Since then, I worked in Pixelmator for a good hour or so, watched a few videos on YouTube, played music via Spotify, chatted with friends on Discord, downloaded some apps, and browsed the web with Safari. And I'm not talking light browsing either: I'm talking 10-20 tabs open at a time.

It is currently 2:39am as of this posting, and I'm happy to report I'm *still* running off the same charge. And, according to coconutBattery, there's *still* about 2ish hours left.

Color me ****ing impressed. :)

Well seeing he actually wants to play games, you’d be dumb to recommend a MacBook with only an integrated gpu.

Hi guys, do you think I should return mbp 15 2.9 ghz and reorder a 3.1 ghz one?
I ordered an maxed out mbp 15 (3.1 ghz, but only 512 SSD) on apple.com and picked it up on Thursday...
However, I found a problem on keyboard, my O key did not function properly. When I tried to type "com" it will end up with "cmo" or "como".... unless I typed it very slowly. I did some research and it seemed to be a hardware design problem, so I returned it yesterday and repurchased an 2.9 ghz one (they don't have customized 3.1 ghz one.). Now I feel the screen is a little bit warm than the previous one and I am not sure whether to get a 3.1 ghz one... any difference between 2.9 ghz and 3.1 ghz? Thanks

just ordered 15" TB/i7/512

big difference between the 13 and 15 is the dedicated GPU/quad core vs duo core?

is there anything else different?

edit, also coming from a mid-12 retina 15, is this a big upgrade?

If you order from B&H, and there's something wrong with your unit when it arrives, can you take it back to the Apple Store for an exchange if it's within the 14-day purchase period, or do you need to send it back to B&H?

The USB-C ports on the right side on the 15'' are full bandwidth unlike on the 13'', but unless you plan to use 40gbps on both sides simultaneously then that's no big deal. Otherwise yeah, 15'' has more powerful CPUs and a dGPU, no other real differences.
