does anyone know how it works if you live in a condo building with a concierge? normally they are able to take packages while I'm at work, but I'm guessing ups requires the buyer's signature for something like this?

Bah. Ups tracking had a Friday delivery estimate and it just slipped to Monday. Once the estimate changes to a later date, does it ever recover?

I’d made plans to be home that day to take the delivery, too. Sigh.

I have seen it happen, but very very rarely.

I just saw a Best Buy open box base model 2015 15" MBP for $1250ish. Was I foolish for not buying it on the spot, or could they do better? The case looks beyond mint, maybe virgin-esque...

If your looking for almost 4 year old tech. They still can be had online pre-owned. Was the unit you looked at new?

It looked new, but I suspect it was like the ones Apple was selling in their refurb store up till the new iPhone announcement, and they were $1699 I believe. I also suspect it was a customer mistake on line, then returned to the store.

As much as I would love bleeding edge Macbook Pro goodness, I'm worried about the keyboard and touch bar. I was thinking this could bridge me till the next redesign where maybe they'll be once again Pro and not so much cute...

Hey guys,

Proud new user of a 2018 space grey MBP A1990. I9 2.9, 32 GB ram, 512 GB, & Radeon Pro 560X. What an amazing machine. It's actually my work who purchased it for me but none the less I get to keep it for all my personal needs. Just wanted to make a shout out. Quite a difference from my old 2011 MBP.

Did it come Mojave pre-installed?

Touchbar is very useful in stuff like Photoshop, Logic, Final Cut, Affinity Photo, etc... Speeds up things a lot faster. No longer have to keep hand on the keyboard and transition... it makes everything fluid...

Just received my 2018 MBP 13 2.3 8GB 512GB SSD

coming from 2015 base MacBook retina

WHAT A FREAKING FANTASTIC MACHINE!

Gorgeous display (my slightly older eyes love the standard resolution vs MacBook where I used the More space option)

Really Unbelievable Sound

Absolutely quiet under medium load: it actually switches the fans off when not needed so it sounds like my MacBook but even if the fans are spinning at 1390 or so I can only hear them in a really quiet room with my ear at the exhaust.

Freaking powerful when needed. Then the fans rev up but even then rather soft and sound not unpleasant. Also over time it gets warm in case of high load but never to the point where I cannot use it on my lap.

Me. I love the keyboard. That’s personal preference of course. Sooo precise and with just enough travel. My wife’s old MacBook Air has such a wiggly ****** keyboard by comparison. I type like a secretary on this.

Such a fantastic build quality they still get better and better on this with each generation.

A FEW GRIPES

WTF is this touch stripe??? It’s not even the same resolution as the screen. Annoying waste. Maybe I need muuuuuuch more time to learn how to use it in each of my apps. Or I’ll just keep ignoring it like I do right now.

Love Touch ID. but so many times I still have to enter my password. WHY APPLE???? I was planning on getting a much more complex password for safety and then just use TOUCH ID all the time. But not possible at the moment. If my Iphone did **** like that I would take it back right away.

Best parts are safety: no more meltdown and spectr threats and my ssd is fully encrypted and I don’t even feel it. Perfect.

Conclusion: there is no other computer with this quality on the planet and therefore the price pains but is money well spent.

I know the haters will come after me now but all you others just ignore them.

Get yourself this awesome machine and never look back.

P.S. no I don’t get paid for opinion pieces like this.

Ordered the base macbook pro 13" 2018 model. Can't wait to upgrade from my Macbook Air 13" from 2011. Very excited :D

I purchased a 2018 15" MBP with 2.6gz/16/512.. However.. It's getting returned and I have a 2018 13" 2.7ghz/16/512 on order now that should be here in a few weeks. Decided since the 13" has a quad-core now, might as well go wtih the smaller size since at home I use a large external monitor anyway.

While a new MBP is out of the budget for the time being, I did manage to snag a mid 2014 13 inch model for AU$800, which arrived on Friday. It has a 3GHz i7 CPU, 16Gb ram, and 256Gb flash storage. I can only find one very small mark on one of the chassis corners, otherwise it looks new. Screen is excellent, no signs of the anti glare coating failing, or failed pixels. This thing will serve us well for the next few years until we're in a better position to buy brand new.

Set up and running Mojave, it performs great! Only drama was trying to transfer data from our 20011 iMac, the migration assistant would always lock up and never finish the job, both from a time machine backup, and from the iMac directly. I ended up setting up the MBP as new and just copying documents etc from the iMac to an external drive, then onto the MBP from there. Battery cycle is at 400, which doesn't seem too bad for it's age.

It's our first portable Mac, and we could only be happier if it was a 2018 model, but then again, for our usage we probably wouldn't notice that much difference.

Just ordered BTO 15 2.9/32/560x/1tb showing currently delivery at 17-19 October which is pretty late for some reason.

Purchased my BTO 15" 2.6/32/1TB/560X through Adorama. I've had VIP360 so hopefully I can get it by the end of this week. Will probably go to Apple and purchase AppleCare+ with Education Discount once I receive this the laptop. Used Adorama for the tax free savings and the AppleInsider discount.

Ordered a stock MacBook Pro 2018 15" 2.6/16/256 yesterday and got it today. Coming from a MacBook Air 2013 13" with 8GB of ram and a PC built 10+ years ago and been using both Windows and Linux. Have been rocking iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 6, iPhone SE and iPhone X. Also own one Apple Watch Series 3 plus AirPods. So I suppose I'm stuck in the Apple eco system, by choice.

Installed Mojave from scratch and some essential software. My first impression coming from the MacBook Air is the screen. Amazing compared to the Air. The keyboard is going to be something to get used typing on.

I like it so far!

Just got my new MBP and it came with a dent/scratch, is this something worth talking to customer service about or should I just get on with my life?
