I just ordered a refurb MPB 18 2.3GHZ quad core with 8gb RAM and 250gb SSD. My only concern was the jump downward in storage space from my tricked out 2011 MBP, (but external or cloud storage is cheap.) But since it's really only good for web surfing and word-processing now (and somewhat slow at that!) I am looking forward to the new machine, and I saved quite a bit buying refurb. Apple will give me $200 to trade in my 2011. Worth it? Seems easy, and I don't know if I could get more selling it on ebay. What do y'all think?

After being an Apple convert a couple of years ago with a used 2012 MBA and putting up with slow photo processing I have just pulled the trigger on a 2018 MBP13, 16/512. 2 weeks delivery time is quoted and I can't wait :)

My i9 can't maintain base frequency anymore... its a little over a month old.

Just found a decent deal on a 2.2/32/512 on the refurb site, so I went ahead and picked it up. Will be here Tuesday!! I don’t think I’d benefit from the 560x too much. Wish me luck!

Ordered the tbPro with 16 GB and 256 MB. Should last me a while now as a replacement for my 2011 MBA base model.
Apparently it arrived at the store for collection today. One week earlier than advertised. Unfortunately I can only collect it on Friday, maybe Thursday if I get lucky.

If you guys go on the Apple Refurbished website, there is literally every single spec model for the 15" MBP. I'm assuming this is due to the Radeon Vega GPU announcement, but man, are there a lot of refurbished MBP's for sale right now. I just bought my base model 15" a week ago, and there wasn't as many options as now.

As a Graphic designer working on Creative cloud (photoshop, illustrator, indesign) but also Sketch (i design apps), i really have no idea on which config to get.

I come from a 2014 mbp with 16gb of ram and the intel iris pro.

Form factor, im good on that part, as i know that the 15'' is my favorite screen size.

Hard drive, good too: got dropbox pro account for real storage, an 512gb should be enough for my short term files i need to have with me.

RAM, i will upgrade to 32. Because i know the tools i use do take advantage of the available RAM.

CPU and GPU, that's where it gets complicated for me.
CPU, with all the mess around the i9, i have no clue whether i should upgrade to this or not. The i7 2.6ghz sounds like a safer option. But again, i have no idea of the gains i will get by upgrading to i9.
GPU is also where im confused. I have no idea whether those tools are relying on the GPU intensively or not, and if i should wait on the vega GPU coming soon. I have the LG 5K monitor by the way, that i can't really use right now with my current mbp (even tho it's scaled down to 2.5k automatically, fans start running heavily).

Also, its tiring to see all the reviewers just focusing on Video editing and Fortnite performance. Im pretty sure majority of macbook users are not youtubers, and i'd like to know how "Other tools" perform on a new laptop, rather than just Premiere and Final Cut.

Hope some of you can help. And i hope i ll be purchasing a new mbp soon!

I've got a 13" 2018 arriving on Tuesday next week.

Considering I'm on a mid 2009 MBP with a Core Duo processor (albeit with an SSD) this will be quite an upgrade.

My 13" 16/512 arrived today and it seems a nice bit of kit. First impressions of the keyboard aren't great but I don't think its something I won't be able to get used to, as long as it works as it should. The only issue is I can't migrate Photoshop and Lightroom properly, my account seems to have been lost in the ether between my old and new machines.

I left my early 2011 MBP for this 2018 MBP. So far, so good; I'm doing the new purchase support thingy on line tomorrow, so we'll see what new things I haven't found yet.

So tempted to buy a 15" but I'd still be paying $1500 after I sell my current laptop. It's really hard to justify that when my current laptop still runs like new and the main reason I'd be switching is a preference for macOS and Apple products.

Got this in August, and a bit late... But I got a 15 inch MBP 2018 with 32gb 2.6 1tb SSD and 560X. A bit angry over the Vega announcement. But most of my work is CPU/ram intensive that benefits with graphics than the other way around. Works great for all of my creative and productivity work.

I just bought the following:

Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.9GHz 6-core Intel Core i9 with Retina display - Space Grey

Originally released July 2018
Touch Bar with integrated Touch ID sensor
15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology; 2880x1800 native resolution at 220 pixels per inch
32GB of 2400MHz DDR4 onboard memory
2TB SSD
720p FaceTime HD Camera
Radeon Pro Graphics 560X

£3,749.00

Anything I should look out for?

Many thanks.

Just ordered:

Space Gray 15"
Core i7 8850H
16 GB RAM
1 TB SSD
Vega 20

If it has ONE BridgeOS kernel panic I'm sending it right back.

But I really want to try the new GPU. I think I could take advantage of it. And I have a friend who wants to buy my 2016 model from me.
