Just got my refurb, it's going back - ports are mildly beat up, especially the magsafe port.

really disappointed tbh. expected the top case to be replaced in this kind of situation - didnt expect to see any signs of wear anywhere.

Well I just got my Vega 20 MBP today!

If it crashes once from the Bridge OS error, it goes right back. Luckily I have a while to return it.

Did you buy the i7 or i9? Post some benchmarks! And if you're feeling adventurous you could crack open the bottom and upload a photo of the cooling fans. A lot of us are curious if Apple quietly upgraded the cooling for the i9/vega 20 model.

Refurbs should be absolutely flawless. They should have gotten more QC scrutiny than new machines. Unacceptable, return and complain.

The i7, 2.6 GHz. Vega 20, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD. I probably won't be opening it up, though, too risky :p

Here's the CPU benchmark:

Here's the GPU OpenCL benchmark for the Vega 20:

And here's the Metal score:

I don't really know what the numbers mean. Hope they're good :)

I just ordered...
- MBP 2018 (Space Gray)
- 2.6GHz 6-core i7 processor
- Radeon Pro 560x
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB storage
- Refurbished

I last owned a 2012 MBP, so I'm looking forward to see how big a step up this is. I do game design in Unity, and use Adobe apps.

I just ordered this same Rig. Refurb Space Grey. Leeeeeets Goooooooo!

Here's the Magsafe port, you can see some obvious signs of usage on the nearby ports as well, nevermind the nicks on the edge of the case also that it had elsewhere:

Is this direct from Apple? Amazon is rife with used computers that are marked as 'refurb', total scams. I'd take that in; Apple refurb should be as good or better than new.

Yep. This is a direct from Apple, certified refurbished unit. I returned it already. This is a case where I would've expected Apple to replace the top case and recycle this one.

I just had Apple replace a top half of bottom case and it came back pristine in terms of the Al frame around the motherboard ports but the MagSafe connector is definitely the original and shows quite a bit of wear. Amazingly, however they've reused the screws in the bottom panel rather than replacing the screws with a new set.
I'm not the first person to think Apple is cost cutting.

Right, and I realize that the inset part of the Magsafe is part of the board, however the frame around it is somewhat beat, not to mention Apple touts their cleaning process on the refurb site so I would expect some attempt at freshening up or chemically cleaning/restoring that inset portion. I could've lived with the inset portion being a little marked up but the wear around it and the other ports and nicks elsewhere, I just couldn't deal with considering I laid out $1700 for a machine released 3.5 years ago.

I bought a TouchBar 13” Pro from Apple just a few days ago... then I looked at Amazon.

They’re selling the base 15” Pro with a $250 discount. I don’t really need anything more powerful than the base $2399. I jumped on it since I had a whole bunch of Amex points and a $100 promo. Less than $1,900 after taxes and discounts. I’ll be returning the 13” back to the Apple Store tomorrow.

Went from a MacBook Pro 2017 15” to a 2018 version (Black Friday discounts). I honestly like the upgrade. TrueTone is really amazing. And yes, I care about such things. Also love the hexacore speeds. :D
