Just ordered 13" MBP, i7, 16GB, 512 SSD. Delivery mid-December. If there are kennel panics because of that f****** T2 chip it's going back.

I just ordered the same except i5 on Saturday. They said Dec 5th, but UPS is already saying it'l be here Wednesday. Glad I didnt pay the extra $18 for express shipping (which promised Wednesday).

Its funny that you can't wait to test for Kernel Panics and I cant wait to test the keyboard...

Haha! Yes, the keyboard too. This machine is for my 24-year old son, who's very non-techie. (He's been using a 2012 MB Air.) I want to check it fully before he gets his hands on it. Went with the i7 at the last minute -- "only" $230 extra with his education discount. He'll be doing some short video editing, but whether the i7 was necessary...?

Yikes....better buy him a snuggie too cause he's never leaving home if you keep doing that .

He's already living with his girlfriend, thank goodness. But he managed to hold onto the MacBook Air through college and for a total of six years without any major mishaps so I figure he's due a reward of sorts. Plus, I'll get his Air (I'm using a 2009 white MacBook that seems to weight 40 lbs, although my primary machine is a 2017 27" iMac, upgraded from a 2007). We tend to keep Macs a while.

Fiiinally got my new MBP 13” TB in the mail today! I’ve seen them in the stores before but this thing is really nice to use. I knew the screen would be better than my old MBA but I didn’t think it would be that big of a difference - but now after a few hours of looking at it the old MBA screen is pretty much unusable for me. Seems I lucked out taking the risk of buyig a new/sealed unit on ebay at a discount.

I ordered a MBP 2018 i5 16GB. It says "Arrives Dec 10-Dec 17 " ??

I just ordered a 2017 15" MacBook Pro to replace my 2010 15" MacBook Pro.
  • 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7 Quad-Core
  • 16GB of 2133 MHz RAM | 1TB SSD
  • 15.4" 2880 x 1800 Retina Display
  • AMD Radeon Pro 560 Graphics (4GB GGDR5)
The keyboard is supposed to be much more reliable in the 2018 model but I had no interest in getting a model with the T2 chip (bridge OS errors).

Did you buy the i7 or i9? Post some benchmarks! And if you're feeling adventurous you could crack open the bottom and upload a photo of the cooling fans. A lot of us are curious if Apple quietly upgraded the cooling for the i9/vega 20 model.
Aren't there enough benchmarks on the internet for you to look at?

LMAO

You're out here advertising Adorama and ******** on me for wanting a return policy and supposedly paying $400-$600 more, it seems like I got a nice 1+ month return policy and saved $200 by NOT ordering from Adorama.

Not sure what your problem is? I never got on you about that. I just stated some people know when they don’t need it and if someone needs it they will need to pay more and go to Apple for piece of mind.

Don’t trash this thread now.

So, when you factor in taxes, it still cost more with the education discount than buying from Adorama.
Yep. $400 for taxes plus $225 discount at Adorama still comes out way on top. But he never seems to get that.

Absolutely! I did the same yesterday, got a 15" MBP 2.9GHz i9, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon Pro Vega 20 for around $600 less than buying it from Apple. Same way I've bought my last 3 Macs and never had any issues.

Yep. When I got my 2017 from bhphotovideo I got it for around $600 less too. And when I sold it I only lost like $200.

Not sure how well this new One I got will hold it’s value but we will see. I got the same config as you but with 2tb.

Between the T2 chip kernel panics and random rebooting and the keyboard issues that apparently have not been totally fixed yet I think you'd have to be nuts to buy from a place that does not accept returns, especially at this time of the year, when Apple, Amazon and Best Buy are offering extended return periods well into January. Nuts.

Nope. Have apple support to help with that. And the keyboard isn’t a big deal on the 2018s. Also t2 issues aren’t happening really yet except one owner with the Vega models. We bought them knowing of these issues. Still not a reason to return it. I’m not going to buy a windows laptop and have bsod issues due to broken patches Microsoft keeps releasing. Lol

One owner?? Have you not seen the 108-page thread in this forum and all the articles around the Internet concerning the T2 chip/Bridge OS problems in 2018 MBP's and iMac Pros??? No, I'm NOT arguing to regress to a Windows PC, or even not to buy a MacBook. But I don't like shelling out north of $2,000 or more and having to spend my time sitting around an Apple store on day 3 waiting for a "genius" to tell me to reinstall macOS, to stop plugging in peripherals, or to disable all of the T2 functions in order to be left with a usable machine. I want and need the option of saying "take it back" and give me one that works out-of-the-box.

Yea one owner is all that has had an issue with the Vega model laptops. You need to catch up yourself dude. The Vega has a different version beta of the firmware on it and it hasn’t shown the same issues the early 2018s have. So again, do some research. Lol

Ummm, I think it was pretty clear that I was referring to all models containing the T2 chips and the new 2018 3rd generation keyboards, not just the Vega GPU models. Not sure what thread you're reading.

And Vegas have been in people's hands what, a week?

That’s enough to show the problem since it happened every day on the early ones. Lol

And I clearly was talking about the Vega model which you replied to earlier. Lol

If there is an issue so bad that the laptop needs to be replaced then the Apple store will replace it. I had a MBP a few years ago that I bought from B&H that had a screen issue. I took it into the Apple store and they just replaced the whole thing. Obviously you would hope to not have to do that, but you are talking about warranty issues, which aren't what the return period is for.
