Just ordered exactly the same.

Sooo...I changed my mind. Cold light of day, spending £4K on a laptop wasn't something I could carry on and do when in my heart of hearts I probably want the re-design when/if it arrives. Also I have specced for edge cases, vast majority of the time 16GB and 512GB/1TB would be more than fine. I have actually ended up ordering a hardly used 2018 2.6 i7 with 512GB / 560x for £1500 from ebay and 2y of Applecare left....if I end up running out of space I am sure an external drive won't be all that hard to deal with.

Apple - MacBook Pro® - 13" Display - Intel Core i5 - 8 GB Memory - 256GB Flash Storage - Silver 2017

Got it from Best Buy for 1099 ($400 off) with 5% discount and some of my Best Buy gift cards. Very good deal. Love it. The best of it is it doesn't have Touch Bar.

Picked up a mid 2012 2.3ghz i7 15 inch MBP refurb from my local Microcenter. $504 plus tax. Pleasant surprise was that the ram was already upgraded to 12 gigabytes. Tossed in a spare 500 gig SSD that I had and was good to go.

Overall excellent condition with a few minor scuffs.

I think it's still amazing how snappy even these older unibody machines are with a little extra ram and a SSD.

I just ordered a top end 2015 15” 2.8ghz macbook pro off the refurb store. Has the discrete gpu as well.
More than I wanted to spend, but at the end of the day, its like new, and I couldnt stomach buying one of the flawed current models.
I’ll use the next two weeks of return window deciding if its performance is good enough for my needs (video editing, some consumer 4k etc)

How are the 2019 MBP's flawed? They've only been out a couple of weeks and I haven't heard anything negative about them. Even the keyboard is supposed to be improved.

I just picked up my new MacBook Pro 13in 2019 today. It's my first Apple laptop. I'm a longterm iMac, iPad, iPhone user and picked up the watch last week as well.

Very impressed with this new MBP. I love the touch bar, it's really well done and useful and the keyboard so far seems fine but it's way too early to tell.

I didn't need the MBP really, I'm not a power user by any means, no heavy graphics editing here or anything like it. I just fancied going top drawer. I always wanted a Macbook since seeing the old Aluminium G4 books back in the day but never got around to getting one. I travel a lot so this will be great with my content and I can just take work apps from my Surface Book and put them on this. I went away from Apple a few years back, went Android etc but am all in with Apple now again. Love the iPhone XR and the battery life and still love the 27in iMac I got 2 years ago.

Very pleased with this MBP, the build quality is just superb.

Very pleased with this MBP, the build quality is just superb.

Longevity issues of the current models aside, the materials selection and assembly are extremely well done. Very few other laptops get close. It's something, in spite of the issues, that I notice every time I use my machine as troublesome as it was at first.

How is it for you? Curious for your opinion as I'm eager for 2019 13" as well! :)

It's a really great machine. I love the bright retina display, the battery life is also brilliant :). The keyboard feels different from the previous butterfly keyboard, it feels better and softer to type on. I love how thin, light and portable the 13" version is, it also has a quad core processor and is more than powerful enough for what i do.

I use my 13" MBP 2019 everyday, often for long periods of time when writing, i love it :). I even like the Touch Bar, i've seen many complaints on this forum about the Touch Bar BUT i really like it, it's something i use all the while, especially when editing photos in Pixelmator Pro.

If the keyboard issues have been fixed and i have no issues with this machine then i will be sticking with it for a few years. All in all i'm very happy :D

Finally decided to upgrade my old 2011 MBP. Kids are now using my machine more than me and getting time on it became comical at best.

Not sure how deep these posts are supposed to go but... the CPU difference is minor between the two offered on the highest level MBP. RAM is obvious as it is not user upgradeable. Since I do all my work via the Cloud, SSD was not needed as an upgrade...512GB is more than enough. My final choice was whether to drop the cake on the upgraded GPU. Well, as I am often doing editing on the fly (sitting on the train, or during lunch), the Vega Pro 20 seemed the logical choice... wasn't sure on the 16 as for 100 bucks, why would you go lower... originally I was going to try and go base model on the GPU but the reality of my actual usage made the upgrade more logical.

Anyways, in summary... if you are on the fly more often than at a desk, the 2019 fit my needs perfectly. I will note that in the US, taxes are a bit funky. I have to keep invoices and log my hours for ALL usage as the cost of the hardware is over 2500USD. If anyone is curious, that's the threshold for logging hours from a taxes perspective (to write off the cost of the machine or part of it). You have to maintain at least >|= 50%... it's a pain at the end of the year if you are close to that mark... you find yourself NOT using your machine intentionally... gotta love it.

I hope everyone has a great day!

I bought a MB Air last week. 16gb with 512SSD and collected it from a local Apple store.

After a few days of setting it up, I decided that I should have gone for a MBP.

So, I sent it back and bought a 2019 13" MBP TB with 16gb and 512 SSD and the 2.8ghz i7.

Just received it today even though the shipping said Jul 2nd. So, I am happy :)

All good so far. Still installing my apps.

This is to replace my 2013 iMac.

I like the way the TB works with Microsoft Office apps.

bought (and it just arrived) MacBook pro 13 inch 16 gig ram 128 ssd (2015) model from eBay. Love it. cycle count is below 200, screen is in great shape and keyboard feels brand new. I can't stand the new keyboards, and figure this will last me till they redesign and then have a second gen, say in 2021 or 2022). if the hard drive size bugs me, looks relatively easy to replace too.

I just bought a 2019 13 MBP TB 16GB 512GB 2.4GHz from Apple for full price. (No good deals to report here.)

My current machine is a 2017 MBP nTB 16GB 512GB 2.3GHz but I find the keyboard too noisy. Love the new keyboard but HATE the touch bar. In just a few days of use, I find it does weird things when I'm in Word when I accidentally hit it that I end up having to undo, but worst of all I ended up accidentally sharing my screen during work Skype sessions several times! This could have lead to some very embarrassing or even-loss-of-confidentiality moments (but fortunately didn't so far).

I don't know what to do:
- Live with it and configure each app where I encounter problems to use the legacy Fn keypad.
- Return the machine and wait for the imminent MB Air refresh and possible nTB update.

Well I do some Photoshop for work and I thought the screen would give me better colour rendition on the MBP. Colours are quite critical in my job. Also I like the idea of the TB, plus the extra connectors on the right hand side. It is a simple thing, but where I sit, charging from the right hand side is much easier. So for the extra £600 or so, I thought it would save me money in the long run.

I just bought a used 2015 MacBook Pro 15.4 inch on eBay. It has 16GB of Ram, and came with a 500gb ssd which I recently upgraded to a 1TB ATA XPG with the ssd adapter. The total cost was only $830 and it was like new condition, perfect screen. I really love the keyboard and how slim and compact this thing is in comparison to the Asus gaming laptop I had.

The reason I bought the 2015 because it's a lot cheaper than new, doesn't have the Touch Bar and butterfly keyboard, and just heard a lot of good things about the 2015 MacBook Pro and certain issues with later MacBook Pro models. I did not get the one with amd graphics since intel graphics are good enough for me and is one less thing that can fail. Really enjoy my MacBook Pro because I really like making calls from the laptop and doing FaceTime on my laptop. I hate having. to hold my phone up during face time with the laptop it's so much easier.

I've finally completed the trifecta(MacBook Pro, Apple Watch, and iPhone Plus). I have no need for an iPad with my big iPhone so thank goodness for that. Glad I got rid of that pc laptop. I don't think I'll be going back to PC because the MacOS rocks...I'm using the latest Mojave.

Welp. I finally made the plunge and bought a 2019 13” MBP. It’s the model with a quad core i5, 500GB SSD, & 16GB of RAM. To be honest I’m loving it. It is so sleek and frankly a beautiful piece of hardware. And the redesigned keyboard is very enjoyable to use. Much better than I expected. I’d give it a double thumbs up!

I'm loving mine, on my first business trip with it and it's great for travel. And these Macs could be the last ever designed by Jonny Ive!!

Just got a new Macbook Pro for work:

15"
2.4Ghz octacore i9
Radeon Pro 560X 4GB
16GB DDR
512GB SSD

I will get it next week. Looking forward to it. My current model is a mid 2014 Macbook Pro 15" which really suffers from having a 27" 4K screen hooked to it.
