got a 15" base model (256GB) during the Bestbuy sale for $2099, replacing my 2013 beloved MBA ... I switched to Lightroom earlier this year and the MBA was struggling with it. So far, I love everything, even the Touch Bar hasn't turned me off yet :)

I just picked up a display model of the base 15” space grey for only 1670! Looks basically perfect. Haven’t had a non-work mac for a few years now, excited to be back in that world.

Picked up a 2019 15” 8 Core MacBook Pro from Apple. Which felt like I’d been violated without lube!!

I wanted the 13”. But the only one with 16GB of Ram available today was a 1TB SSD version. So it was cheaper to pickup the 8 core 15” with a 512GB SSD! Plus they price matched Amazon so saved another £250.

Quite a while ago I bought a used/refurbished 2015 MacBook Pro 13" which came with everything. 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.

I'm in love with it but still learning how to use macOS. it's been about ten years since I last had a Mac.

The seller was excellent especially compared to some people on eBay! The price was good too.

Really? I didn't know Apple did price matching, which store was it?

Finally about a new MPB after 4-5 years, upgrading from a Mid-2015 15"/16GB/256SSD/Iris & Dedicated to a 2019 15"/16GB/256SSD/AMD and the performance jump is huge. I was sad to see legacy ports and magsafe go though.

Well I just picked up a pretty nice deal on a 2018 15" MBP. It's a "used" MBP, but it is excellent condition, only has 2 battery cycles. It's the i9 2.9GHz/32GB/560X/2TB model and it will be replacing my Max 2016 15" (i7 2.9/16GB/460/2TB) MBP.

My 2016 is still running fine, but seeing issues like flexgate has me worried since it is out of warranty and Apple only has the 2016 13" MBPs listed in the Service Program.

6 cores are better than 4 cores, 560X is only maybe 10% better than the 460. 2018 also has some improvements over my 2016 model like the KB.
Will be nice to have the additional RAM as well as both of my Desktops have 64GB of RAM. (12 core 2013 nMP trashcan and a Windows machine using the 8 core Xeon that was in the nMP before.)
Anyway, I got a good price on the 2018 (I think) and I get a warranty on it.

edit: Just got the MBP in today and apparently I was wrong about when it was made. It is practically new and was from the end of last month.

The keyboard definitely feels strange to use after getting used to the clicky one on my 2016 MBP.

Ordered the new base model yesterday. 1.4Ghz/16GB Ram/256SSD for 1510£ incl. the beats headphones. Hope to sell the beats for 200£. We'll see

Gonna use it for office, media consumption and light productive tasks (lightroom and logic)

This is pretty much the exact model I’m interested in. Can you tell me, is the £1510 the education pricing? Do you know how much extra the 512gb SSD would be with education discount?

How did you manage to get this spec for £1500? Those specs cost £1700

I went around and around, trying to settle on what to replace my ruined mid-2012 15” rMBP. After flirting with the idea of moving back to Windows, I was sure I would order a mid-2019 13” MBP, 2.4GHz, 1TB SSD, and 16MB RAM for $2399. The $200 drop on the SSD storage upgrade sounded like a deal.

Finally, though, I determined that, outside the keyboard improvement, little else had changed from 2018 to 2019. Others assured me that their 2018 keyboard works great and is a substantial improvement over 2016 and 2017, so I ordered a 2018 13” MBP refurbished by Apple: 2.3GHz quad core, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD for $1999. Last year I think it was selling new for $2599. A professor friend has had one for a few months and loves it.

Oh wow, I just realized something. I’m about to buy my first MacBook Pro without a cd drive, but I’m still a dinosaur and use CDs every once in a while. But not only do I have to buy their external SuperDrive, but I have to buy an adapter to plug it into the USB-C port. Madness. I’ll see if amazon has USB-C external SuperDrives.
