I ordered a 16” Max 14/40 64gb/4tb from B&H on November 1st. Because I have their promotional credit card they absorb my state sales tax which amounts to $312.

Today I got an email from them saying “We will continue to try and secure stock to fulfill your order, however at this time we do not have an exact date on when we can fulfill it.” It goes on to offer options for selecting a different product or canceling the order. Talking with them via email it sounds like they don’t expect to have it in their hands until January.

It seems shocking to me that Apple would treat their authorized resellers this way. As a retail customer I can place the same order direct from Apple today (three weeks after the B&H order) and have it in my hands by mid December!

I upgraded my original order to exactly the same as yours and I got the identical email from B&H yesterday. I am contemplating what to do next.
This is not surprising to me at all. IMO B&H seems to handle launches poorly. I’ve had some bad experiences with them getting cameras after launch. I’ll order as soon as it goes live and it’s like it falls off a truck and I cant find anyone who knows where it is, and then it’s suddenly delayed over a month and then I get it at some random time two weeks before or after the new date.

I‘m completely shocked that my order directly from Apple hasn’t switched to preparing to ship yet after seeing so many orders after mine already arrive. I mean, it’s not a holiday in China! 14” SB M3 Max 16/40 64GB 2TB ordered 11/6. Still showing 12/7-14.

Really appreciate you posting your past experience. I normally don’t purchase anything at launch from them. Just bad luck timing this time around.

My guess is that they over sell the stock they’re allotted and don’t care if they piss off customers in the process because money. It’s a pattern. Then by the time they change dates it’s too late to order from elsewhere and get it in a reasonable amount of time.

I got my 16" M3Max (14/40, 64GB/4TB) today, shipped via DHL. Posting this information for anyone else who might be looking to see what DHL path things take.

Ordered from apple website: November 19, 2023
Apple Delivery estimate: Dec 5-7
Credit card was charged: November 20, 2023
Item picked up by DHL: Nov 21
Apple changed delivery estimate to Nov 30.
Delivered: Sunday, Nov 26

Notes: I was surprised it delivered on a Sunday - they called to validate I'd be home since it was signature required. The DHL website never once provided an estimated delivery date until after they put it on a truck this morning, so I had no idea how long it would take to get here. Also the tracking is really spammy with customs messages, including one from Cincinnati so I didn't know if it was going to have to go through there to get here (UPS goes Alaska -> KY -> Seattle). Overall the delivery portion was stellar since they called to validate I'd be here, but the tracking situation sucked.

Final path was Shanghai -> East China -> LA -> Seattle -> My house.
I was pretty happy that it got here exactly a week after I ordered it. I suspect they had some of this configuration already built up and ready to go as it went to shipping really fast. This is the third configuration I've ordered - no more changing my mind after this one! :)

Detailed Tracking in DHL was as follows (Piece ID removed for privacy and each timestamp is local to the location it's listed next to)

In fairness to B&H hey never promised a date. My concern is that I ordered the morning after launch and people who ordered direct from apple weeks later than me have received their product while mine is still estimated to be at least five weeks away. It’s on Apple to provide a balanced allocation to their authorized resellers. If B&H is selling more than their allocation then their allocation is too small. I get prioritizing their direct sales because they don’t have to split the markup with a retailer but this amount of imbalance is bad practice IMO.

asking the class for some info ---

so i got a , i assume, 'custom built' macbook 16 inch 128gb 8tb variant in black. its shipping using dhl. i have a longer than 10 character tracking number. did any of you have a long "ecommerce" dhl track number? from what i was told from a dhl rep, anything longer than 10 digits/characters is a dhl ecommerce option.

just asking if anyone who reads this had such a long number and was the final delivery with dhl or usps? im in los angeles.

the machine is currently at a local dhl delivery hub thats 3 miles from me. its not slated to be delivered until wed, but if i can go by and pick it up and not have to worry about these jokers trying to delivering it, that would be the way to go.

The number I got from Apple was 10 digits, but there's a "Piece ID" number that you see in the tracking that was much longer once you click through to track the details. Not sure if this helps. My final delivery was with DHL. I would be surprised if it they handed it off to USPS. Does yours show signature required?

At the rate my shipment is going (and being handled by DHL express) you’ll get yours before I get mine and I ordered earlier and it shipped earlier. Sigh. Really wish it was being handled by UPS.
You got yours before mine lol, Mine is still in customs clearing since Thursday lol

Has anyone had any luck in getting their MBP help at UPS CC for pickup ? I attempt thru the app and via email and it seems there is a restriction that only allows to change date and deliver to a neighbor ? I have active MyChoice subscription.

DHL Express is very much the opposite of express. My order shipped out early Sat morning (Nov 25) US time. As of this morning, it's only made it to the Cincinnati, OH hub. And I haven't seen a status that it's cleared customs yet, which from this thread sounds like it can cause a delivery to get stuck for a day or two.

I've gotten used to getting deliveries 1-2 days after placing an order. This feels like a throwback to the days when standard orders took 5-7 days to get to you after they've shipped. Not to mention the 4-6 weeks everything took to get to me in my youth.

I was hoping Apple's estimate of Dec 1 was conservative and I may get it earlier, but looks like it's accurate. But, I was promised Dec 5-7 when I put in the order, so that would still be a few days ahead of schedule.

My friend ordered on the 21st and his is on the truck for delivery via DHL. I think his shipped about the same time. His tracking showed it yesterday in Beijing and now out for delivery lol(edit : he has it on hand now!)

Picked up a 14” Space Black M3 Pro (12/18, 18/1TB) from Best Buy over Black Friday weekend. I like it a lot. The SSD is twice as fast as my M2 Air, and the color is sharp. Apps open really quickly.

The best part is that it was a hardly used open box model that was even cheaper than Best Buy’s already good Black Friday discount (and no Plus membership required). The battery had 3 cycles, and the packaging was complete (except for the paper wrapping on new Macs). Only 16 days of the warranty had elapsed.

This is a keeper.

Another week, and still no change at all on my November 6th order:

14" SB M3 Max 16/40 64GB 2TB

Still showing "processing" and December 7-14 delivery. Everyone else's delivery date moved up except mine.

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure every single person in this thread who ordered a week after me has already received their MBP. Why does Apple hate me? Did they finally figure out I used to write for 9to5Mac and they're punishing me? Haha.

I've been checking stores and the only ones that ever come in stock are way up north in Chicago which is about an 11-12 hour drive round trip, not including stops. Don't have time for that right now. I've also been dealing with my Anker 577 Thunderbolt hub that's on the fritz, and Anker support has given me nothing but trouble. I'm especially going to need this dock after my MBP arrives since I'm swapping out my iMac for it. My Keychron keyboard order is also taking forever, but I guess it's just as well since my MBP isn't here yet. I've got someone to sell this iMac to when it arrives and they're taking the peripherals as well.

That’s crazy.. can’t believe you haven’t gotten it. I wonder if it’s the space black that’s holding it up

Purchased a new (refurbished) 16" M1 MBP late Wednesday night. Said it'd be delivered Monday at first, then today, now it's looking like Monday again tho perhaps tomorrow. Shipping seems to be fishy but it's the holidays I guess that's expected? I got silver too, for some reason I kept trying Space Grey over the years but just didn't like it as much, going for the keyboard POP again.

i still wait for my PP prepaid 11/11 order too. The 14/30 Max 14 inch, with 2TB. Big authorized reseller in Germany, 300 EUR lower than the Apple price. Original delivery was quoted 12/5. soon went to not available, switched back to 12/11 and now again no delivery date available. This storage option on the German Apple Store at the time of order was already first week December, now slipped to 12/20. I don’t know If it’s high demand or supply chain issues for this ssd size, strange. 1 and 4 tb sizes are available, but 1 is too small and 4 too expensive and overkill for me. Hope I get it still this year. kind of pissed, you think you get a good deal and then such issue, already shelled out 4200 euros and nothing happens and nobody can tell you what is going on.

I bought a certified refurbished M1 Pro MBP 14 (10 core CPU, 16 core GPU, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) for $1350 from Micro Center after almost purchasing the base M3 MBP. I don't regret my decision at all; this computer is still a beast.

After setup, though, I noticed that in settings it said that my limited warranty would expire on 4/19/24 instead of the 12/2/24 date that it should be. I called Apple to have the warranty coverage updated, but they were unable to do anything.

I will reach out to Micro Center and try to get them to throw in an extended warranty for my troubles, but I don't plan to return the computer. It was clearly certified refurbished from Apple and is in pristine condition.

Any trouble spots that I should worry about on this model?

crap.. that’s I ordered on the 14/11 a 2TB 16 inch from an authorised reseller in the UK and pretty much same story, was originally quoted 2-3 weeks, then 25th Dec, then 14th Dec, and now 21st Dec. I started getting anxiety on previous 1TB models as I was hitting 700 GB mark so went with 2TB but kinda regretting it now…

That's crazy yours is taking that long, I got my 16 SB M3 Max 16/40 64GB 2TB last Thursday. It was a total of 8 days from order to delivery here in FL. Mine was considered a CTO so I tracked it from China all the way to the states. Hopefully you get your MBP soon!
