Just ordered a Space Black M3 Pro 16" with 36 Gb RAM and 1 Tb SSD.
It will replace my 2019 MBP16 i7/16/512. A bit more expensive compared to my previous MBPros (2009 13", 2014 15" and 2019 16"), so I hope it will be worth the wait and the price hike :)

After two cancellations and changing which computer I was going to trade-in, my new laptop will arrive today. I went with the 14" Space Black Macbook Pro Max/14c/36/1TB. It will replace my 16" 2019 MBP i9/32/1TB in all ways except playing pc games, which in this it will be a POS.

Interesting choice, why did you decide to decrease the screen size? I have been in doubt until the last moment.

I never really liked the 16" screen.. its too big for everyday carry but perfect for trips.. The 14" was the one thing I was sure of.. all of the other stuff -- ssd, ram, and whether or not to trade in the m2 air or i9 mbp kept messing me up. I really hate giving up my mobile pc games.

Got to pick up my M3 Pro 12/18 18GB 1TB Space Black today, happy day!
I ordered it last week from a local retailer, getting warned that delivery could possibly take weeks. Yet today they mailed me telling me I could come pick up my device. Loving it so far! Such a nice crisp screen, such a difference from the Dell work laptop I've been using for the last couple of years. So glad to be back in the Apple universe!
It'll take me some time to get used to the 14 inch screen coming from a 15 inch PC but I felt the 16 inch was too heavy and big to lug around to university and work.

Holy crap - did you order two laptops for that price!?!?!?!? 😆

RE: binned vs unbinned. There are probably better explanations in the thread somewhere, but a 'binned' chip happens when they go to make a M3 Max chip, and they test the CPU, and realize some of the cores aren't working right/performance isn't what it should be. Your order above shows a non-binned chip, meaning you're getting the full power out of the chip as expected.

When looking at the options for the M3 max chip, the top chip is "binned", the second one is unbinned:

View attachment 2311548

I can never remember how many CPUs/GPUs it has, so I'm lazy and say binned/unbinned.
this is really very helpful. you explained it like i was five and i got it!!

Waiting on my Space Black 16" MacBook Pro. I ordered late, wanted to see it in person first. Original date was Dec 1 -7, but after little while it was quoted Nov 21. Won't be today, maybe tomorrow. It's coming DHL from China, in Cincinnati now on the way to Baltimore. Usually Apple uses UPS for me, I am not impressed with DHL. Their status doesn't show a delivery date, and there seem to be a ton of customs messages, on holds, etc. But other than not being happy with DHL I am not worried I suspect it will come tomorrow or worst case Friday.

Anyone had delivery from DHL? Apple says it’ll be delivered the 29th but DHL doesn’t show a date at all. Historically with UPS deliveries Apple shows a super conservative date. Box is still in china right now so don’t know if it will update once it hits the US (final destination is Seattle area). I’m hoping it will get here on a day I’m not at work since I have to sign for it. I have no idea what path it’ll take since I’ve not had apple use DHL for my orders before.

all of the chips are binned or capped (which is a nice way to say binned). They do not allocate 40 cores and hope they are all ok to make a 40 core machine. There are probably 44 cores there.. If they can get 40 out of them, fine. If not they become 36 core machines. I know it sounds nerd cool to use the word "binned" but it's not accurate.

Doubt it’ll be delivered tomorrow/Thanksgiving.. but if it does. That’s impressive lol

Received my 14’’ MBP M3 Max/48GB/1 TB two days ago and I love everything about it. Strikingly fast, excellent battery life and fan noise only with highly demanding tasks (and even then much quieter than my 16’’ Intel MBP 2019).
Also enjoying the portability compared to 16’’ and not missing the extra screen estate so far.

I ordered a 16” Max 14/40 64gb/4tb from B&H on November 1st. Because I have their promotional credit card they absorb my state sales tax which amounts to $312.

Today I got an email from them saying “We will continue to try and secure stock to fulfill your order, however at this time we do not have an exact date on when we can fulfill it.” It goes on to offer options for selecting a different product or canceling the order. Talking with them via email it sounds like they don’t expect to have it in their hands until January.

It seems shocking to me that Apple would treat their authorized resellers this way. As a retail customer I can place the same order direct from Apple today (three weeks after the B&H order) and have it in my hands by mid December!

For what it’s worth I placed an order around 6th of November on a BTO 16” m3 max through an authorised reseller in the UK. Was given 2-3 weeks when ordering, then got a date of 25th December a week later and that’s apparently from Apple.

Same BTO config from Apple direct is available for pickup in 2 weeks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess that’s what I get for 0% financing + best price compared to others.

But yeah, equally shocked that the authorised resellers get shafted to that extent.

I upgraded my original order to exactly the same as yours and I got the identical email from B&H yesterday. I am contemplating what to do next.

ive had the last 3 refreshes of the maxed out mbp 16 inch. the first one i got through bh because i had their card and had a good 0% apr. i got that same email but stayed the course as i was in no rush.it was about a month to get the machine, which i thought was ridiculous. the last 2 (early 2023 mbp 96gb/8tb variant) and now the late 2023 128/8tb variant i ordered direct from apple to get it sooner and not deal what that. also im sure bh have a waitlist so its not even sure where your name is on that list as im sure many people are taking advantage of the tax free option on the payboo card.

So my new 16" arrived on Monday. It took me a couple of days to spend any time with it beyond installing and transferring files. Coming from a 2016 Touch Bar, it feels like a massive upgrade in speed. The keyboard is sooo much nicer to type on and the display is great. The space black is ok, I'm not convinced it's better than space grey, but it makes a change. I am amazed they didn't put the special coating on the inside?! That seems really stupid as it definitely marks, not badly, but more noticeably than I hoped and I have dry skin on my hands. I've barely heard the fan at all, which is lovely. As a developer, the compile times using gradle/java/intellij are more than twice as fast for large projects. The memory management is good, but don't believe the BS about it being magic. If you need virtual machines or docker containers there aren't any magic solutions, but it's nice to be able to virtualise the full production setup of my current project and still have 12-16GB RAM free.

I didn't ever think the Touch Bar was necessary, but I do kind of miss it for a few things like the autofill, volume/brightness slider and some custom shortcuts, however I'll just relearn/create the keyboard shortcuts. A physical escape key is very welcome. I'd have liked a Touch Bar and function row, but it felt like Apple lost faith in it. I think without Apple pushing it and creating layouts for third party products it was always going to end up as a short-lived gimmick. I've hated all the touch screen laptops I've used, so it struck a balance that still worked for a touch typer.

[2 Pockets] Afterplug External Hard Drive Travel Pouch for Laptop, Reusable Stick On Holder for Wireless Mouse/Earphones/Portable External HDD/SSD—Seagate, WD, LaCie, SanDisk - Gray

anyone use a product like this to expand there storage? if so what's your thoughts... trying to decide im going to return and upgrade my Mac to 4tb.. or just go with this...
I have a couple of external SSD's already...
and a NAS with 20tb+... just not sure how I want to proceed..
I've not used something like that before - but keep in mind that putting something like this on the lid of your laptop (with a SSD in it) might put inappropriate pressure on your laptop screen if you leave it on while in a bag. It would really really suck to break your screen.

Very good point. That is something I have not considered

I really doubt it would damage the screen if there is a bit of room. I always toss the laptop with other things in my bag. Hope it doesn’t leave marks.

At the rate my shipment is going (and being handled by DHL express) you’ll get yours before I get mine and I ordered earlier and it shipped earlier. Sigh. Really wish it was being handled by UPS.
