could Apple increase the display resolution in an update to say 1400x900 ?

maybe when snow leopard comes out?

I think that is one thing I would've liked to have seen the most...a higher resolution on the 13" and 15"

15.4 should've gotten the option to go to 1680x1050 also.

I'm not saying his does have the issue, but it's the same display. A guy earlier pointed that out. Maybe it's a non issue, but it should be noted. I'm not sure I want a computer that comes with a display known to have issues. Just common sense.

The issue with the Macbook Air was actually horizontal lines, not vertical. Personally I don't think it was the display anyway, I think it was a problem with the Air itself.

Thank you very much for the pictures. Can you tell us is the computer hot? Does it seem to run cool? Does the SD card slot work well?

The thing runs really cool to me- I've been using it for about 3 hours now and I can't feel a hotspot. My powerbook would burn my legs but I must say I haven't done anything processor heavy.

SD card slot works great- pops up a SD card icon on the desktop and your good to get your stuff off. My Sony cameras card is thinner and doesn't work though.

No vertical lines here at all...after following all these threads for months- I think it is damn near perfect (maybe I got lucky)

As for battery- I've been using it for about 3.5 hours off charger and it says 56%- pretty darn good.

I don't think the display was at fault either. Only thing I can say about the color is that the blues seem very slightly purplish. I need to find those color profiles that people have posted.

Either way, people praised the Air's display and now it replaced the UMB- I guess thats an improvement.

That is some nice battery life. I can't wait to get mine. Any chance you can post a picture with the sd card inserted into the slot? Thanks again for all of the info and pictures. You beat Engadget and Gizmodo. Very nice. ;)

I'm sorry to ask you about this again. When SD card is inserted, does it stick out (by how much) or it goes all the way in like DVD in its slot? Thanks. :)

I posted this earlier...it doesn't go all the way in but sticks out about a centimeter (I said like the same amount of the magsafe plug minus the actual cord part or...you know what-I'll insert it and take a crummy picture with my iPhone.

Nothing on my order has shipped yet. The iPod said it would ship in 24 hours and that was at 2:55 yesterday. AHHH!

I ordered the 2.53 Ghz model. I upgraded to the 128GB SSD but sadly it won't ship for 1-2 weeks because of the SSD option. Looking forward to it and my free iPod Touch will arriving in a day or so. :)

Ordered one yesterday. I used my Mom's AE card because she could get points from the purchase. Apple called me and asked about the card company number. I told them this card was issued in Hong Kong and I gave them a HK company phone number. They said they would give me a response after 2-3 hours. It didn't happen.
So...
I just re-order it with master card which doesn't give any bonus point.

Ok Im home and I opened it. My LCD model # is 9C9F. I can tell you the viewing angel is 100 times better than the old Uni MacBook. In fact, its better than the Uni 15" MacBook Pro (not the new one). Very nice machine.
I had to remove the 10 screws on the botton to replace the hard drive. Once the bottom plate is off, you have access to the hard drive, battery and memory.

That's a relief to hear as a probably buyer of the 13" MBP. I was at a friend's house today and just sitting next to her browsing the web on a 13" UMB (late 08 rev, I think) kind of scared me about the screen quality. It had a crappy viewing angle. Hopefully the new screens will put those fears to rest for me.
