was just trying to set mine up for return but I can't restore my backup from my 14 pro to my 13 pro because 16.0.1 isn't available for the 13 pro. Don't know what to do. Do I need to install the public beta on both to get a backup version that can be synced?

This. I have to swap out my space black 256gb for another as I have some issues with my screen and I keep refreshing the iPhone availability site and nothing at all is populating. I didn't think demand was this high this year.
Me neither. Haven't seen a PM at all since the first few days after preorder. Saw a few regular Pros before but gone just as quick. Hope some PM start showing up by Friday when I pay my 13PM off. I don't remember it being so bad other years.

You can generalize whatever you want, but there are some real reasons that the results of THIS poll are likely not representative of the general phone-buying public, here are 3:

1. Sample is not randomly selected. People self-select to participate based on the title of the thread, which is literally `The “I returned my iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max” Thread`. The title is written to explicitly attract those that have already returned their phones.
2. MacRumors users, as a population, cannot be assumed to be similar to the general population.
3. I posit that people who are happy with their devices tend to be on the forums before receiving their device, only to return again if they ever have a question about their device, or when the hype starts for the following year's iPhones.

You can't just invoke the word Science as if it were an incantation that magically makes your experiment hold water.
  1. All polls have a purpose and focus. For instance, political polls. What you've pointed out here doesn't make the poll invalid. In fact, as can be seen by the results, many people have answered no to the poll and have not returned their phones.
  2. Macrumors users, as a population, cannot be assumed to NOT be similar to the general population. You can't just make an assumption like you've made a fact without proving it out. And if anything can be said about this population, it's that it's bias toward Apple, which would validate these results even more.
  3. You can posit this, and you may be right, but your belief is not some generalized fact, and certainly doesn't support this poll being invalid.
This is off topic/derailing this discussion. If you want to discuss the science and practice of polling, start another thread or do it elsewhere. This is a valid function on Macrumors and many polls are done.

Yes, they are. Right here in this thread we're already seeing the use of this "10%" number independent of context, as though it's a figure drawn from some real-world data as opposed to a worthless "poll" on a MacRumors thread.
If it's so worthless and you therefore find no value in this then why are you spending the precious time you have on this earth in this discussion?

I can't compare a phone with squared edges to another with squared edges? Wasn't that the complaint, how horrible it was to have squared edges and Jobs would never have allowed it?
The complaint I have is the squared edges, the weight of the phone, and the size of the camera bump. I never liked the squared edges even under Jobs, but that specific iPhone 4 does not really have any camera bump, is small and light and nimble. The camera bump is a significant issue for me.

At this point I may turn to the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

All polls can be criticized, which is why political polls have received a lot of criticism over the past several years. Nothing you have said invalidates the poll here. And the results may be even more valid since it may be the case that people here on Macrumors are bias toward Apple.
There are enthusiasts, the seasonal drop-ins, the people looking to solve a problem, and finally there are trolls.

The self-selecting group that chooses to vote in this group is materially different from market reality.

If you really think 14% of folks are returning their phones, try shorting the stock. Market response to the 14 Pro is quite strong. Apple is even increasing capacity to produce more Pros based on reality - real world market demand. Apple's stock is up 1.5% today.

The MacRumors poll is simply not reality. But if it makes you feel good that you can justify that you canceled your order, even in this poll, you are in the minority, by far. The truth may hurt but consider that you are not Apple's target audience for the Pro.

Add me to the list. I'm coming from an SE2, and liked my wife's iPhone 13.

The 14 Pro is more unbalanced and heavier than I expected, and doesn't sit on our Magsafe charging pads correctly due to the massive camera bump. My wrist isn't used to the bulk of this phone. Going back to my SE to think for a while! Might end up with a 13 Mini in the end, I think.

I went th the Apple Store to get my 14Pro. The store did not set up eSim Card or Pair my Apple 7 watch.
I had to go to TMobil Phone Store and spend another Hour to download the sim card. A regular SIM Card could be installed in 10 seconds. Then I had difficulty Pairing the Watch which should of been done at the Apple Store. Over $1200 for a Pain in the Ass Phone. All for a Better camera to go to Thailand with. I should of Bought a Used Nikon D850 for a little bit more. SIM Cards are easy. Im glad Apple made my life miserable just so they could save a Buck and Increase Profit. Apple Sucks but Android is Worse. No USB C !!! WTF Apple just keeps milking us as Usual. We are fed Up with your Greedy Marketing. I will cut back on Buying like the rest of the Smarties. 9 months in North Thailand should relax me.

I understand the need for better cameras, but the bump is getting ridiculous. At least place them all horizontal across the top (rather than in one corner) so that it won’t wobble when touching the screen. I’m sure there will need to be a redesign at some point if they just get bigger.
That would make them seem to be copying google, ala pixel 6 and 7. They won’t want to do that. 🤣
But yeah, that wobble drives me nuts, have to use a case.

You are making statements that are not proven as fact trying to attack a poll and then trying to attack me in way by saying I posted this poll to make myself feel better.

The poll is valid, and this is getting off topic. If you find no value in this, why are you spending your time here.

No USB C yes! Man this is annoying that it doesn't have USB C as well, as I've switched to having USB C on all my devices... except the iPhone.

Coming from a 12 Pro to a 14 pro and I really can’t tell the difference in weight. I can comfortably use it with one hand and it still fits places where my 12 pro use to go.

The only thing I will miss are my One Piece cases from Casetify.

A lot of people are saying why you are returning it, without saying why you bought it in the first place. Did they even need a new phone? I guess it's not that big of a hassle to buy and return it, but I would still try to make sure I'm at like 95% sure before purchasing.

Or is this just something people do instead of going to the store to see it for themselves?

I’m going to keep my 14 Pro Max because:
  • I researched the phone before I ordered it
  • It’s exactly what I expected based on reviews, pictures, videos and Apple tech specs
  • Weight and form factor are as advertised
I'm cancelled my order because:

  1. I researched the phone and tested it out before I took receipt of it.
  2. It's not exactly what I expected: the camera bump is so big and awkward that it was not comfortable in my testing to use it.
  3. Weight and form factor are too heavy and too bulky. I have never owned a Max or Pro. I've got a 12 and came from an iPhone X. So for me this is a huge step up on the weight and bulk department.

Did you read my original post. I ordered it, and the order has been pending. I went down and tested the phones and dislike them, and cancelled my order. I ordered when orders opened up to ensure I had a decent delivery date IF I decided I liked the phone after I tried them out, which was my plan.

I need a larger screen as I just can't reliably type on the 12. I find the larger screen I'm able to type better in my testing.

certainly doesn't support this poll being invalid
The poll is certainly "valid." Its results exactly reflect the votes of the users of MacRumors who opted to view the thread and subsequently vote in the poll.

I never tried to claim it was any more or less than what it is; you're the one that brought your ... understanding ... of "Science" into the thread 🤡

Real talk to all who were disappointed and returned their devices: I hope you find satisfaction in a new device before your current device fails to serve you properly, and I hope you enjoy your current device until then!

Let's be honest: Very few people actually need this phone. I'm still happily using my 8 Plus. Friend is very happily using her 7 Plus. Another poster here said the 6 Plus is still working fine for him.

This is spoiled brat territory here--or people looking for a temporary thrill (emphasis on temporary) by fondling the latest shiny object from Apple.

I'm curious... why not opt for the 13 model? Perhaps 13 Mini? I think the 14 is an upsell to push users toward the 14 Pro and if users not interested in the pro models should settle for the 13 series (imo).
I actually compared them both. The slightly better battery life plus the satellite sos was enough for me to go with the 14 this go round.

So long. Have a nice trip.

Depends. These jeans 13PM fits fine. Some it just barely fits.
The top left corner sometimes slightly sticks out, but it's not an issue for me. Most of my pants are Uniqlo (Japanese brand). I don't know if they maybe have bigger pockets, but I've really never had a problem.

Unless photo quality is a major selling point I think most people would be fine with a iPhone x.

I stayed with the iPhone 13 pro and just upgraded the storage.

Apple's marketing of the iPhone 6, its last sensible phone, touted thinness and comfort: "iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are engineered to be the thinnest ever, delivering a bigger display in a design that is still comfortable to hold and easy to use."

Haven't heard much about thin and comfortable lately, have we?

As someone upthread said, Apple has indeed lost the plot.

these were the phones that bent right?

At some point you have to think user error. This isn’t rocket science. You don’t know how to pair an Apple Watch?
