Yup, returning it. I thought I would give the pro a try again, nope. Never liked the weight. Too damn heavy for a phone. Feels like a brick in your pocket. And when viewing when lying down it feels like the phone is going to drop on your forehead. Apple really pigeoned holed themselves into continuing to use cheaper SS instead of their much more premium 7000 series aerospace grade aluminum. They promoted a much cheaper metal on the pro models because it would boost their profit margins, and they can market it as being tougher. But notice on the marketing they never market it as being more premium metal at all. There is a reason for that. They simply cannot. Now they have a problem with weight and have no way out other than going to titanium. Stupid Apple, real stupid.
‘Also Dynamic island I do like, but not in leu of keeping the phone.

People here are biased towards Apple for sure, but they are also many times more critical of minor flaws in their Apple devices than the general public. I've never had someone I know return a phone for customer satisfaction who isn't an Apple enthusiast. If it flat out doesn't work, then sure they'll exchange, but very rarely return for a full refund.
You make assumptions that are not fact. You have no evidence that people here are "also many times more critical of minor flaws in their Apple devices than the general public". Come back with evidence to support that and then actually statistically quantify the standard deviation in that subgroup. Until then, there is no evidence that this poll is any less valid than the many other polls out there in the world.

Well I love the 14 pro. I had the 13 pro, moved to a 13 mini to try for a while, and had every intention to go back to a pro.

Right now, while I am really enjoying a LOT of things about having a pro again, and was even toying with getting the max, I am missing the mini. Gosh it’s just an easy phone to handle.

Thanks for the insight man, good points.

I like the DI also, definitely better than the notch, and I really love the macro photography. Trying to decide if I love both of those things enough to not go back to my mini - do they outweigh (no pun intended) the mini. ;-p

Let me just add I’ve been totally pleased with the phone since I got it, but the more I handle it, the more I wonder if I want to deal with the weight of it for the next year Or more.

Yea on some with smaller pockets the corner peeks out a little. I like the pocket on the pair i have no because they are wide enough to put the 13PM in horizontally
Interesting. Just another indication of how different we all are because my thoughts are the exact opposite. When I went from a Pro to a Pro Max I found that the PM sat more comfortably in my pocket because it ended up being narrower in my pocket. With the Pro it was small enough that it would turn sideways (horizontal) which I think is what you are saying that you prefer whereas the extra width of the Pro Max means for me that it won’t turn sideways in my pocket and stays upright and aligned lengthwise along my thigh. I find this way more comfortable and it doesn’t create an obvious phone-sized bulge in my trousers.

I just now cancelled my order. I was at the Apple Store yesterday and tried the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Currently using a 12. They are so heavy and the camera bumps are absurd. The design is just not great at this point. They’ve seriously lost the plot here.

Wish I could swallow Android but I hate Android. So here I sit, with a 12.
But you’re missing out on Dynamic Gilligans Island

I think it is fair to say most people on this forum are enthusiasts who have a much better knowledge of the iPhone product line than the general user population. So I am amazed by the number of people who ordered this phone and are now returning it because it is not what they expected. I have to agree with another poster speculating that there appears to be a lot of impulse purchases maybe just because it is the latest and greatest or maybe because there is competition to be among the first to have one.

Those phones are now used and can't be sold as new. If Apple wasn't the ultimate ATM machine you might expect them to charge a re-stocking fee.

The camera bump on the 14 Pro is massive … I’m coming from a 12 Pro and it’s crazy how huge the bump is. I hope this does not become the standard

was just trying to set mine up for return but I can't restore my backup from my 14 pro to my 13 pro because 16.0.1 isn't available for the 13 pro. Don't know what to do. Do I need to install the public beta on both to get a backup version that can be synced?
Anyone else facing this - yes I just updated both phones to 16.1 beta, was able to transfer data at that point, and then after the transfer I restored my 14 pro to 16. Returning it on Friday, gonna check for new AirPods pro.

This is unequivocally false. I’ve been using max and plus size phones from Apple since their inception, and have had no issues carrying them in my front pocket.
"No issues" as in, if a brick fitted why not carry it as well?

These treads are always interesting to read. I have been an iPhone user since 2008 with the 3G and usually upgrade every 2-3 years ( though there have been one or two instances where I upgraded back to back.

I have never returned an iPhone because I didn't like it for X reason. I do research and watch tech YouTuber impressions, tech site impressions, and read reviews of the previous year's iPhone before upgrading or picking up a reserved phone.

That way I know what I am getting before I buy.

These phones aren't made for people who actually need to carry them around in standard pants. No one in my office uses them (many have the smallest phones possible).

Men cannot fit these phones comfortably in their pants. Women can put them in purses, but I've heard more than a few complain about how uncomfortable they are even to hold! The square edges cut into your hands. It's noticeable, especially because of how heavy they are.

Steve Jobs has definitely left the building. There are evidently lots of bobblehead "yes" people at Apple just picking up paychecks and never saying no to stupid ideas that flow from managers. We've all seen this behavior before.
I wear standard pants and they fit into my pocket.

I also carry purses much bigger then my waist bag that I like to utilize more because it leaves my hands free and it not only fits the new pro, my work iPhone but also my keys (with never ending key fobs now being attached as I get access to more and more doors/garages not only within my office building but condo.

🤷🏻‍♀️

I just spent another hour at the Apple Store. I tested the 14 and 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max... the difference in the weight in terms of how much heavier the Pro is vs the non-Pro is significant. After testing again tonight I confirm my same position that they're too bulky and the camera bump is just a no go in use for me.

There was a woman there next to me seeing a Genius and she had a new iPhone 14 Pro and she put it down on the counter and it just looked so absurd how it was tilted and angled because the whole phone just rests and pivots on that god awful bump.

I did you one better. I ordered ahead of time in case it passed my testing, then went down to the Apple Store when they became available for Demo and tested it, then cancelled my order.

The main reason is the design of the phone which I dislike.

Fixed ©.
It’s not as if apple didn’t release the specs ahead of time. We knew how much it weigh, how big, the look, etc.

If it was really the design then did you order blindly or?

Notice you’re brand spanking new too that just happens to be an ex hockey player with 4% fat.

I’m nowhere as tall, fit or athletic but I can with one hand, use phone without any issues.

Damn if you're an adult and find 7.3 grams "so heavy" you might want to consider lifting some weights or doing some pushups.
They were referring to carrying around weight. Which it is heavy. That is why i am returning mine. I will just get the 14 for the weight benefit. The SS is a cheap metal but all the bobble heads on here think its premium and defend Apple to the end regardless. Not realizing the regular model is made out of metal that cost 4 times as much! 7000 series Aluminum is a alloy used by Aerospace industry for satellites and space craft. It was made to replace titanium at a lower cost. I find the phone heavy and i am a bodybuilder. I am sure you are too👌
They could sell ipoop and people on here would buy it. 😂

How could I possibly know if I liked the phone without actually trying it, not just looking at pictures online and seeing specs? Answer: I can’t. Once I handled the phone and tested it then I made my decision.

Imagine if people thought the same way as you. Why bother trying anything, including cars, looking at houses, etc. Just look at pictures and read specs.

😂

I can use the iPhone with one hand too, doesn’t mean it’s very comfortable.

Because it’s very obvious design wise it’s not that different from the iPhone 13?

And it’s comfortable in one hand. I merely mentioned this ability since everything else I lack in comparison. I mean, I can barely do one push up.
